Solid hardworking crew!
Aspa C.

We had a recent great experience with a Moxie Movers team! I had put down a deposit in advance, got an email confirmation of my reservation, a phone call from the crew chief, and text check in to start the day. It felt good to know we weren't being forgotten (I've heard too many horror stories of movers not showing up). They helped us unload a rental truck into a self-storage facility. The truck was very full and they had to work quite hard ferrying items deep into the bowels of the facility, deftly navigating an elevator and longish hallway. They fit everything into the unit with Tetris-like precision. No space was wasted and yet nothing seemed overly crammed or in jeopardy of future damage. Pro Tips: They do take credit cards but there is a processing fee so cash seems preferred. They did not have dollies/hand trucks with them but we used the ones we had rented from U-Haul as well as what the storage facility had on hand.

These are boxes unsecured by any ratchet straps loaded into a POD shipping from Richmond to NM.

Remember when you were in college and you'd call your friends to help you move? This is Moxie Movers. Except my move involved moving my whole home into a POD across country. The first mixup occurred via email when they told me they didn't Pack only moved. This was after I put down a deposit. A second email corrected that, but most reviews didn't mention packing so I packed half my house myself. No attic and only 3 boxes in shed were left. I am a single, senior. It was August and hot. Next, I became concerned after watching many YouTube videos that my furniture wouldn't fit in the largest POD. Jesse Whitacre came over one day to advise me on whether or not it would be adequate. He suggested I get rid of at least 8 boxes, a desk chair, two dressers and a brand new $700 stationary bike. I got rid of them all. By the end of the job the POD wasn't completely full (not good, items can shift) and I had lost items I didn't want to part with. As a note, I didn't move any of my major appliances. Moving day arrived and they were 30 minutes late. Packing wasn't their strong suit, they were right. At the end I watched exhausted as they packed my China closet with Crystal and fragile China into a 4' tall, taped bottom box throwing in my heavy cast iron pots in the same box. I really felt they just didn't care. I don't know even wrapped in paper how any of those glasses will arrive unbroken. At one point, I opened my handbag and there were several remotes and cables to various electronics?!???!! No clue why they were just thrown in my purse instead of packed with the item they went to. But the worst part was a few weeks later when I went to add a box to the POD prior to shipping. All of these photos show heavy items without ratchet straps. I bought straps, in fact we had straps left. As you can see in the photos; there is room left but worse the ratchet straps are behind the boxes. Who on earth packs a POD this way? Probably your teenage friends from college would. Call your buddies and skip Moxie Movers.

They moved me from a townhouse in Williamsburg, VA to a larger, standalone home in Richmond, VA. In between, we stopped off at a 10 ft x 10 ft storage unit to pick up more stuff. Apparently, there was some miscommunication between the sales guy & the moving team because their piece of paper did not mention going to a storage unit. However, they took it in stride and told me we'd still go if that was what I discussed beforehand. Will was the foreman, and he was great! I could see his experience as he directed his guys with how to move bulkier pieces of furniture. The team wrapped & padded all of the furniture well & were responsive to my requests when I asked them to move something to a different part of the new house. Considering I was with them all day (10 am to 9 pm), they remained patient. I took off one star because they lost the power cord to one of my TVs. Luckily, it was a universal cord. I went out & bought another one & they reimbursed me. Mistakes happen, and they were apologetic about the mishap. The price was fair. I received three quotes, and their price ended up being around the same amount as the others. I chose Mover Dudes because they were great in answering all of my questions and quick to respond throughout the process.

I received a prompt response to my Yelp Inquiry, and was able to work out an estimate. The day of my move my husband had gone out of his way to make every aspect of the move difficult. He had been living in the house for 5 months tearing it up with trash everywhere, letting the cats urinate on the floors... it was filthy. The cherry on his revenge sundae was keeping the a/c off the entire time. So it was a hot box of horrible. The movers who came out assured me everything would be taken care of, and they did it. They worked in the 80+ degree temps, with the amonia smell for several hours without complaint. Our troubles unfortunately didn't end their. When we got to the storage shed, they found a baby cotton mouth inside. Just my luck! They still took it in stride, with help from my dad the snake was removed and my furniture got stored safely and efficiently in my container. Thank you so much for being their for me and helping me with my move. Recommended A++!

They charge by the hour $230+, so that should also have been important info. Hot day but they don't start until after 9 a.m. for a very short distance ( under1 mi.) The guys were nice, polite and clean-cut, as they advertise. They thought it would take 3 hours to load, but it took 4 1/2 (cha-ching), then it took 6+ hrs instead of 4 to unload. If they'd filled the elevator and brought a full load it wouldn't have taken so long ($$$). NO FOLLOW-UP from co. Expected a "How did we do" call or email or even text. NOTHING. Don't brag about customer service when you don't provide any. Had glass in a picture broken and they responded relatively quickly but they sent a Final - "Courtesy payment" of $30. No way will that cover the repair, but that's all they'll do. Rip off! Paid for extra insurance, so they'd pay to have it repaired completely. Rip off! BTW, since they said they didn't have room in the truck they left things at the house. I asked them to move it all downstairs so I could do it later. They didn't. They left lamps, boxes, pictures, small furniture upstairs - it took me 5-6 loads to get all the stuff they "left". Think twice before hiring. Get them to come and see your stuff. Be prepared for the actual price to be TWICE what they "estimated".

I had an extremely frustrating experience with this moving company and would not recommend them. I…read moredon't understand how they can possibly have their current level of Google reviews. Do not trust these reviews. From the start, the crew was clearly unprepared, untrained, and poorly equipped. One mover was injured within the first 10 minutes, and there was no first aid kit available. He didn't even have work gloves and I had to give him a pair of mine just so he could continue working. Which I had to let him keep given the was bleeding inside of them. A major issue was the amount of time wasted. Nearly 3 hours were spent wrapping every single item imaginable, including inexpensive things that didn't need that level of care. None of this was communicated ahead of time, and at $180/hour, it dramatically inflated the final cost. Meanwhile, crew members were scrolling on their phones, vaping, and sitting around listening to music in my empty bedroom. Crew members also used my restroom in both of my houses and left a mess behind each time that I had to clean. Even worse, many of my items arrived scratched, chipped, or dented. There was visible damage to my home on walls, railings, and fixtures. The crew handled furniture carelessly, often moving heavy items by themselves without any teamwork and hitting everything along the way. They also began unwrapping by belongings before even unloading them off the truck. This made the wrapping I just paid $180 an hour for feel like a total waste of time because now my belongings and my new house are taking the full force of their carelessness. I emailed Cavalier the next day and expressed so if this to them. The claims team called and told me they would send forms for damages and service feedback. It has now been over a week, and I've received nothing. The only follow-up I've gotten is a marketing text message asking me to refer them to friends and family, which honestly feels insulting and completely inappropriate given the situation. Overall, I paid far more than estimated for poor service and damaged property. This experience did not reflect the level of professionalism the company advertises. I blame Cavalier for charging clients prices that make you expect seasoned professionals and instead they send you kids that they have not bothered to train one bit. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this experience. DO NOT USE THEM.
