Moving is a bitter sweet moment. You're leaving behind the life you once knew and you are headed into the unknown. It can also be a stressful time. In order to mitigate some of the stress associated with moving I wanted to hire movers. I lived in a one bedroom apartment and needed to move for work. I contacted Gifted Movers and Miguell answered me back within a decent amount of time. He was able to provide me with a better cost than the other moving companies and I did appreciate that. The other companies left the price up in the air too much for me to be comfortable and I felt like I would be leaving the door open to be taken advantage of so I went with the price that was a little more fixed. I chatted with Miguell a few times leading up to the move to try and give/gauge what things would look like on the day of the move. As far as time and the amount of furniture I had to be moved. A week before the move Miguell called and asked to have the move switched from the Saturday I had planned for to the next day being Sunday. I agreed since I imagined I would still have time to be settled since we were to start at about 9 am or 10 am with the move. I was asked to provide a list of the major items ( bed, dresser, couch, things of that nature) I also provided pictures of the home (unpacked and the square footage) to give a better idea of how much stuff we would need to move. Moving day comes.. I assume we will start around 9 am but that is not the case. Miguell does call me and let me know but at this point he is unsure of when he will be able to make it and provides a window. At this point we still have most of the day and I don't foresee this taking all day. The window comes and goes. Around 2 ish he arrives with his employee. We sign some paperwork and they get started. As the move goes on I cannot help but notice the treatment towards the employee by Miguell. He was frustrated and I get it was hot but I did feel sorry for the guy. The teaching moments that I felt could have been provided were instead met with irritation and ridicule. It reminded me of when a child struggles with homework and instead of trying to teach them you try to yell at them a little more assuming fear will make them get it. I felt it was unprofessional and just not nice in any human interaction. The gentleman also had some type of deformity from birth making one of his arms significantly smaller than the other. Most of the time he was doing a lot of the heavy lifting alone inside of the truck. Time goes on and Miguell complains to me about how much stuff I have. I packed 90% boxes for an easier move and to make sure things fit in the moving truck better. He felt like I had too much stuff for a one bedroom apartment and that I possibly deceived him in some way. I tried to be as transparent as possible providing pictures and a list of all the bulky items. Since I am not a professional mover I cannot recommend a truck size or offer any help in that aspect. The service elevator goes down making the trip to the truck even more of a hike. This drags out the process and is eating into the time we do not have. Since today is Sunday and I work Monday I am running out of time to clean this apartment and get home (an hour north). We get everything packed and they leave behind what doesn't fit and they did a very good job packing w/o wasting space. I head to the new place they follow. I leave my mother there and give her money so that she can pay them since I still need to travel an hour back to my old place to clean up after the move and gather all the things left behind. The night for me ends at 3:45 am and my alarm for work goes off at 4:00 am. I never made it back home. I had planned to have my house in a decent order to be able to be ready for work the coming Monday but I was on the road at the time I should be almost heading to work. I get back to my house later that Monday and realize the seat cushion to my couch is missing. I contact Miguell and he explains to me he has no idea what happened to it. I search my house one more time with no luck and I contact him again to see if it was left in the moving truck he calls and tells me he thought I was joking and that he does not know where it is and that maybe they dropped it in the stairwell. Mind you I paid to have my couch wrapped since it is white to protect it from getting dirty. I found it 2 days later on the 1st floor in the hall. My coffee table was also broken I saw it happen but at this point I just didn't care anymore. This was definitely a life lesson on so many levels. I'll be better prepared the next time I hire movers. read more

Bottom line- They got the job done.... I really thought i was going to love this company. After looking at their reviews and all the smiling pictures. I had really good luck with a different moving company a few years ago but they were busy. Communication was good, they worked hard, however they give you a time from of an hour on when they'll be there. This was first thing in the morning too so not like they're helping other customers. So that was hard to plan for when we're on a time crunch. We used our own truck and not even 1/4 of the way full they start talking about how all this stuff isn't going to fit. I knew it would, we had rented a plenty bit truck, even the website said it was for a 2 bedroom home. This was a small apartment. Their packaging/Tetris skills were decent i guess but glad we got the bigger truck because they didn't plan things out that well, there was a ton of wasted room. All we needed was helping loading and they charged a $100 driving time- I guess to the location that was right there in the city, so felt a little jipped there. And the last thing was I guess he brought his young son. Maybe like 4 years old? Which would have been totally fine, but he never mentioned it, or said hey I brought my little helper or kept an eye on him. Nothing. So when they were packing I had to keep an eye on him because there were multiple times he was getting into stuff he shouldn't have been. He was super sweet and actually had more of an interaction with him then either of the helpers. Did they get the job done? Yes. Are there things they need to improve on? Yes. read more

Migell performed a professional and timely move for me today. As him and his team had to tackle multiple floors to complete my move, with several large items. The task was handled with care and efficient packing. Even with an item left behind in his personal vehicle, Migell contacted me to make sure it was returned to me. This was greatly appreciated! But make no mistake, item was missed because he was actually taking of it by not packing it with larger items. I by no means saw this as a knock against him. This in my opinion was a huge plus! I never got to hire Gifted Movers for a recent move. After three days of emailing and calling, sending furniture list and taking photos of objects that Miguel asked for, he could still not give me an estimate and suggested that he could move me at a fixed rate that was twice what I eventually paid another mover to do the same job. The Gifted Movers made things far more complicated than necessary and the experience was an aggravating waste of time. The other company gave me a reasonable estimate on the phone without asking for how many pieces or boxes I had, and they stuck with it. read more

From beginning to end, Gifted movers was professional and courteous. Mr. Miguel was the first to reply to my moving inquiries and saw us through until the end. The movers were courteous and went above and beyond. The rate was very reasonable. I have already recommended them to my dad for his move in the future and look forward to using Gifted movers Moving Company for our next move. Not only did the Gifted movers arrive on time, they were so friendly and paid special care when moving my items. i must confess, the conditions in my new place were not ideal (it wasn't finished yet) and the guys worked around it. Alright - I was satisfied. They were inexpensive for the amount of items I had moved. They left my kitchen unpacked and I had to go back and do that myself which I didn't like. They also scratched my TV stand a bit. I don't think they are great about more detailed packing, and are a small operation, but they were good for a couple smaller moves and did it fairly quickly. read more
