I'd actually love to give 6 stars because this is the best BBQ I've had since moving to Utah! I'd also like to apologize to my other bbq spots as I will likely not return to them. The staff and Steve are all very welcoming and friendly and take your order at the counter. We had burnt ends and pulled pork with a tater scoop and jalapeno poppers. It was all amazing and perfectly seasoned. Nothing needed to be covered in bbq sauce. They also have beer and offer local picks from talisman brewing. The inside is well decorated with a motorcycle on the wall and law tigers stuff throughout. I'm excited to visit on a warmer day so I can sit outside and enjoy the patio with the river. read more

Have always wanted to try Texas style bbq and this place definitely hit the mark! We tried the brisket, burnt ends, sausage, turkey, pork ribs and Dino ribs. Every single thing was so juicy, tender and packed with so much flavor. I'm not a huge sausage girly but theirs was kind of addictive, along with everything else. First visit to this place wife and I went with a friend. Inserting place and layout. Both inside and outside seating and the place is large. You order at the counter food and drinks. Pay find a table and they bring it to you. Good selection too. Of beer and wine. Brisket which is what I had was very good. My wife had the burnt ends and liked them very much. I've loved a few things here: Drunken chicken is fantastic. The pulled pork and ribs are very good. I'm wanting to try the beef ribs. The sides have been great as well, the potatoes, the cobblers, the veggies, the jalapeno poppers: all excellent. I'm really conflicted here and want to give these guys a solid "5" but they just keep missing on the brisket. 4 visits now and the brisket has been off every time. Three visits have been too dry and tight, and the fourth was served a plate of fat. All bbq spots can be judged by the brisket and I really want them to get this hammered out. Atmosphere is great, you can sit inside or by the river. Condiment add-on bar is solid and I hope they add a couple different sauces. Service is good and they cut your meat in front of you and have yet to not have the scale tip in my favor, A couple more visits with fingers crossed that they get the brisket dialed in. read more

This new barbecue spot in Ogden is set to be a hit! We got there about 7:15 and most everything was sold out for the night so we were only able to get the burnt ends, tater scoop and the pulled pork. Those burnt ends were so delicious! The "taters" had a bit of a heat to it and the pulled pork was juicy. It also came with a slice of bread, which I would recommend be opted for a Texas toast slice as it was a bit lackluster and stale. They also offer some locally brewed beer, which is amazing to see businesses supporting businesses! The staff were friendly, and they have indoor and outdoor seating available. They also offer meat smoking classes, so you can learn how to be a pitmaster at home. Looking forward to trying this place again and we will be there earlier to make sure we are able to try more things! read more

First visit to Steve's Black Sabbath BBQ (a la carte) on the pricey side. Food was fine. Service inexcusable. Toward the end of our meal, in discussion with our server, why we haven't received our adult beverage. To our surprise, our server hastily grabbed our tray of food from our table, and harshly said "you're done, good bye!" and quickly disposed-of our food in the garbage. We sat Stunned! On our way out, I briefly shared our experience to the Steve, the owner. He provided no concern, no displeasure, or opinion on our experience. REAL Texas barbecue in Utah! I am from Louisiana and WELL versed in Texas barbecue. I can attest that eating at Steve's is like I went through a wormhole into the heart of Texas barbecue country. The meat is smoked perfectly & the chicken is SO juicy (yes, even the white meat - which is hard to do successfully). The service is ALWAYS outstanding & Steve and his team are friendly, outgoing, and always check to see how you are enjoying the food. I really enjoy the laid back counter service without the pressure of a sit down restaurant looking to turn tables for tips. We love the patio as we can bring our dog (ask for a pup cup!). Love that he changed the corn to the south Texas corn (it's an amazing flavor bomb) from the corn on the cob & Steves reluctant addition of a "slaw" (we don't do sale in the south). Tried this for lunch today for the first time. The service was excellent. They were kind of slammed with online orders and people in the restaurant but the line moved in good time and the staff was super friendly. The owner gave us samples while we stood in line and the staff also offered to let me try one of the sides to gauge the spice level. The food was yummy overall (I had the brisket, potatoes, Texas corn, apple crumble, and a soft drink). The brisket was tender and juicy, the potatoes were tasty, but nothing to shout about. The corn was buttery and sweet with a little kick to it. The crumble was ok. (The sides and desserts are much better at Lost Texan. Greater variety, better tasting overall.) The design of the restaurant was a bit odd. Only large round tables or one center bar with high stools. So be aware that small parties will either need to belly up to the bar or take up a massive table to sit lower (like the two of us did). I was disappointed that there was only one meal/ platter offering, "The Talisman." It is a great deal considering it comes with a beer flight. But I was there for lunch and planning to work afterwards so I didn't want any alcohol. So if you don't choose The Talisman, you have to order everything a la cart. That got pricey fast. I like the fact that at Lost Texan I can order a 2 meat or 3 meat platter that includes sides. That means greater variety at a better price. I'm not saying I won't be back, but if I'm in the mood for brisket I'm probably more likely to go to Lost Texan for the superior side options and the better overall value. First of all, I am from San Antonio Texas, so I feel qualified, I can talk about Texas barbecue. So we went to this new place and I really like the barbecue. The brisket was very good, but that was all I had. My husband had pulled pork, sausage. He was very happy and said it was great! We did not try the chicken this time. The meat is served on a big steel tray so you can just have your own tray, or combine all the meat on one have everybody in your party eat off the same tray. That is why the meat is sold by the oz/pound. I wasn't too thrilled with the sides. ( please understand I am extremely picky) I had the barbecue beans and the coleslaw. I didn't like the coleslaw which had corn in it and it was just sour. I couldn't find salt and pepper. prefer a sweet-and-sour dressing. it was not a creamy dressing, it was vinegar based . the beans were just ok . I prefer pinto beans that aren't sweet. I could taste a bit of barbecue sauce in there so ... Which I don't like for Texas pinto beans. My husband had one jalapeño popper, Which was kind of expensive-- five bucks for one popper. He also had the mac & cheese, which was OK. One thing we would have a barbecue in San Antonio is pickled beets with onions, but they didn't have this. (Maybe Steve might consider adding beets to his lineup .?) I'm not sure which part of Texas he is from. I think maybe Dallas area You've got to consider Texas as a huge state and there's a lot of styles of barbecue. All in all, I would go back again for the barbecue and to see if they've got something I missed about the sides The service was very helpful and friendly. We love this place. Like Steve, we are true Texans. Spent most of our lives there and we know good barbecue. Steve is friendly and silly and personable and always around. Rich and the rest of the gang are always super helpful and friendly and go above and beyond. My husband had two flat tires on his e-bike due to riding through some stickers, and Rich gave him and his bike a ride to the bike shop! It was so amazing! The music is awesome. Love the overall vibe. And if you need something to do on a Sunday afternoon, go by and have a cold one, some lunch, and listen to the music and hang out. The side of potatoes were awesome.I did not like the "asian style" coleslaw, to me was not actually asian style because it still had a white dressing. My son and I travel often for his junior sports. We have had BBQ all over the country,including Texas. We like BBQ but candidly, I have never had BBQ to rave about until now. We over ate and loved every minute of it! Truly the best we have ever had. The chicken wings are tender and fall off the bone moist. Brisket is moist and flavorful and the ribs are fantastic. Did a pulled pork Sammy, all good. My son (18 ) and all carnivore, said it best, no sauce needed! The staff is very welcoming and accommodating.
