First time visiting and plan on going back. Loved this place. Upon entering you are greeted with several bar signs great for selfies. Left side is the gift shop and lots of things to choose from like growlers, shirts, beer, hoodies, etc. Kind staff. We unfortunately missed the tour. The bar has some food and snacks. The back wall has several beers and ciders to choose from. We sat outside and has 2 firepits, extra seating and even seen a band playing ($2 bill) that made our night relaxing. They also has a food truck out front of entrance with a variety of choices. Restrooms were clean as well as the entire location. I seen a few children and dogs outside along with everyone else. They had cornhole and several board games outdoor/ indoor. You can order food/drinks from the bar outside at a screened location. They have beer and cider flights as well. Parking is across the street and no crosswalk. So be careful. read more

We stopped at Stevens Point Brewery on a Sunday afternoon. It's pretty chill which was nice. Plenty of free parking across the street. The inside is spacious and charming. The outside is an amazingly large backyard with picnic tables and some bags games. There's a little stage so I can only imagine they have entertainment in summer sometimes. Beer is tasty and reasonable. You can opt for a tasting but if the bartender is not busy you may be able to try a taste before you commit. Descriptions are accurate and they have something for most every palate. Food options are pizza, which is tasty and served hot and fresh. Bartenders are full of good personality. Great atmosphere, great beer & ciders and great service. The inside is really cool with a high ceiling and simple decor. There was live music but not too loud, we could still talk and hear each other. It was chilly when I was there and they had a fire pit going outside in the beer garden. We liked all the beers we tried. I think the prices are very reasonable. I was bummed the store was closed. I hope to check it out next time I'm in the area. Also take a tour. We enjoyed our visit to the new tap room! I loved all the historical photos, neon signs and industrial decor. They had over 20 beers or ciders on tap. There were cozy booths and also large tables. A band was playing so it was a good crowd and mix of patrons. We will return the next time we visit. read more

I remember as a kid biking here when they only made lager. I would ride up and put my head under one of the large leaking exterior vats to "taste" the beer way back when! MEMORIES! Parking is across from the brewery. They offer brewery tours. Their visitor center sells beers and ciders. They also have almost anything else one would want with a Point statement on it. Took the brewery tour. Lasted about 40 minutes. Our guide, Pierce, was very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. What a sense of humor For only $10 you get the tour, four 7oz drink samples and a souvenir glass. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. I would visit again if in the area. read more

Wonderful brand new tasting room that looks historic like the building. The pressed copper ceiling is very cool. The beer selection and cider selection were amazing. I love how they always have seasonal beers. We enjoyed the Carmel Cider (on the sweeter side), the Pickle Gose, the raspberry kolsch, and the Oktoberfest. It was a perfect fall day to enjoy the fire and food truck out front. If you have a chance take a brewery tour. The guides are amazing and the history impressive. read more

Great taproom and patio. Beers were excellent. Staff were unfriendly and had zero interest in assisting customers or being helpful in any way. I expect more at a craft brewery. We sat at the bar and our first round came in nice glasses. When my wife ordered a second beer, the bartender gave it to her in a plastic cup. When my wife asked why, he said that too many people steal the glasses. Ridiculous! We have no interest in drinking great beer out of plastic. Loved the space and the beers, but won't be coming back and dealing with staff like this. read more

Interesting beer options, as well as CiderBoys and gourmet sodas. We were in Point for a very specific frame of time and had very little free time in that window. But we still wanted to stop in somewhere and sample some local brews. We were primarily interested in CiderBoys, and it turns out...they are produced at Point Brewery as well. We weren't going to be able to attend an entire tour during our short time in town. I called to ask if they had a tasting room where we could buy a flight, or if it was possible to join for just the tasting portion of the last tour of the day. They said we could join the group for just the tasting, it would cost the same amount ($5 for three ample tastings, and a souvenir pint glass), as long as we could get there by 35-40 past the hour. We were happy (and able, with our schedule) to do this. They scheduled us for the next day's tour. When we showed up, we just checked in with the woman at the register. When the tour group we were joining made it to the tasting area, she brought us down to join them. Before you got to tasting, the guide does a rundown of all of the offerings. Point Beer, CiderBoys, and the hard and gourmet sodas they also make. I do wish that you got one more sample, because there were a lot of interesting looking and sounding things I wanted to sip on. Thankfully, my sister was my companion and she and I don't mind sharing our various tasting in order to sample a higher number of things. Also...their samples are generously sized, so sharing doesn't mean teeny-tiny sips. I appreciated that a second employee was brought down to assist in the tasting, since there were so many people. They probably could have had three bartenders to help with the tasting and been even better staffed. A couple of the things I wanted to try (a few of the ciders) weren't available during the tasting, which was disappointing. But there were plenty of other things that I had not expected to see on tap or in the cooler that filled my needs. We had a short, but delicious, visit here. If you like trying local beer, and are in the area, I would certainly encourage you to consider visiting Steven Point Brewery. read more

We stopped by Point Brewery while returning from Bayfield, WI. The directions for parking aren't clear as we didn't know where to park. That's quite an old building and we saw the beer garden towards the back. Had the flight and hubby tried a few beers. There's a big patio where some games so there were kids playing. We stopped by here when we were headed up to Eagle River. Since we had no experience with SPB we got some bottles and a 12-pack of their Lager. We didn't love their Bock beer, it was OK, and I really didn't like their Pumpkin Ale (it was highly rated so it must be me) but their Scotch Ale was delicious and their Lager was great. When is the last time you had a great Lager? I really can't recall my last great Lager as I tend towards Stouts, Porters and IPAs but these guys have a winner. On our way back down we bought another 48 cans/bottles as we simply loved that beer. They also have sodas; our 16-year old loved the Kiddie Cocktail and their Creme Soda. I also bought the Milkshake Porter (haven't tried it yet). We love New Glarus beers but we would choose Point Special Lager over Spotted Cow. read more

We went on the brewery tour for $7. With that we received four 7 ounce samples + a souvenir pint glass. On the tour, there were questions asked that were rewarded for a correct answer with another 7 ounce sample. My wife and I had a great time there in the beer garden. There were picnic tables under a tent. Tables with chairs. About the only downside were the port-a-potties. However there is one bathroom in the gift shop. Tour guides were informative and for tough questions they were willing to find out the answer for you. Do not ask for recipes, the Brewmaster only knows, and he's not leading the tours. read more

A group of us did the $7 tour and I would do it again!! Sam was a great tour guide!! The tour came with four 7oz pours (beer, cider or soda) and a pint glass. Sam would ask some trivia questions during the tour and you could earn another beer ticket. The gift shop is small and became very crowded after the tour (waiting in line for beer) but everyone was friendly and talkative. We truly enjoyed our time at Point Brewery! read more

We stopped in for a tour which included multiple tastings. The tour itself was interesting as they do a lot of brewing for other breweors and have a long history- the actual beer making process is your standard your fare. They give you a lot of tastings (4 I believe) included in your tour price. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because there is no indoor taproom and so we had to sit outside to have our drinks in the rain. read more

Getting straight to the Point: take the tour. While camping in the Adams/Friendship area, we decided to take a little field trip up to Point to take a tour of the brewery. Reservations are required and it's $5 for adults/teens, $3 for kids, and free for five years old and younger. Closed-toe shoes required, and the tour is not accessible - you must be able to navigate stairs. The tours are guided and tightly run. You get a lot of info and history of the brewery (third-oldest continuously-run brewery in the country) and a chance to view all facets of the brewing process from aging to storage to bottling. It's a good length, but gets you to the bar quickly. We went with kiddos who are five and six and they thought it was fun. Our tour guide was super enthusiastic and you could tell she truly took pride in her job, the brewery, and the city of Stevens Point. The best part of the tour, of course, was the tasting at the end. Each person gets three 8 oz pours of beer and/or soda, plus a pint glass to take home (kids get root beer mugs). I have to be honest - I always thought of Point as a basic cheapo beer, but it turns out they have a whole line of interesting stuff including a bunch of limited run and experimental beers exclusive to the tour-end taproom. I ended up being able to try four beers of my own (bonus of coming with small kids - there's no way they're drinking three sodas each) and tried sips of a handful of others in my group. The Casper white stout was really tasty and surprising and unlike anything I've had. Their pumpkin beer was among the best I've had (definitely more like pumpkin pie than just pumpkin itself), and I enjoyed the Milkshake Malt (though it was a little more neutral of a taste than I anticipated). The gift shop has a good variety of items in a range of price points; I got the kids some root beer logo shirts for $8 each, and picked up a patch for just 25 cents. They've got plenty of six packs for purchase, including samplers of beer and soda. I ended up grabbing a six pack mixer of soda to take home since I didn't sample any in the brewery, and was gifted a beer sixer by my boyfriend's parents. Long story short, it's a great activity for the whole fam and worth a bit of a drive if you find yourself in the vicinity of Stevens Point. read more

I've lived in the area my whole life and hadn't toured the brewery until this fall. It is only $7 and you get a free pint glass and four samples. Nice gift store with great Point merch. The tour was great and I couldn't believe how big the building was once we got inside!! We scheduled our tour ahead of time by calling the gift shop and it made the experience seamless. The beer garden had live music and friendly staff. Parking is in the giant lot across the street. A lot of my family in the area hasn't toured the brewery either and I've told every single one of them to check it out. HIGHLY recommend! read more

I originally had Stevens Pint beer a few years ago at an Ale House in Orland Park. I enjoyed it. I decided to hit up the brewery during my WI Dells trip. I had no idea what to expect. There were more people there than I thought on a Monday morning. Haley was our tour guide. She was very friendly and did a great job with presenting information and keeping the group interested. They offered extra beer tokens to those who answered her questn correct. The beer sampling was excellent. They offered a lot more than other breweries I've been to. You also get a glass too. We took the Friday tour. Make reservations. This brewery is 150 years old. It was awesome. They still had working parts from the its very beginning. You could tell the tour guides had a little routine. They talked fast and wanted to move along. We went up some pretty rickety steps, all the way up three levels.. Loved it.. Especially the beer tasting at the end. The mainstay beer is Point Special made with corn. It is delicious. Right now, they have a few others on draft. Their soda is not to be passed up either. We had made it a "point" to visit Steven's Point on this trip because of Steven's Point Brewery. We are familiar with their beers, we can buy them in St Louis and have also seen them in Iowa. I did not do my homework, this is a large brewery and they have grown past the stage where they have a bar where you can have a beer. Good for them, but not what we wanted to find. I was at least expecting something like the Schlafly Tap Room in St Louis. It turns out that they have a gift shop and the only way to sample beers is to take the tour, which we missed. I really don't really need a gift shop and I can buy the beer without going there. There is no reason to visit Point Brewery unless you want a brewery tour. So that you understand, my rating is for the place, not their beers. read more

Good tour, very good beer, great value. Pretty interesting for being one of the oldest breweries in America, but you wouldn't know it if they didn't tell you, unfortunately. The tour was only half an hour, but that's okay because tasting all the beers was the best part. They have great variety, with many national award winners among them. After tasting the blonde stout, root beer, and others, I was surprised that my favorite was the Point Special - which is the original, stalwart of the brand. It was probably the best "regular" beer that I've had. A brewery tour is rare in my area, so maybe I don't have the same standards of Wisconsinites, but I say this was awesome - therefore 5 stars! read more

This wasn't my first brewery tour, but it was my first brewery tour where my bf and I were the only people on it. No, it's not that it's unpopular. It was a Monday. Who takes brewery tours on a Monday afternoon? We do, apparently. We had spent the weekend in northern Wisconsin and were driving back. It's always our mission to hit a brewery no matter where we go and this trip was no exception. On the way up we went to Great Dane, in Minocqua we went to Minocqua Brewing, and on our way back we made a point to go to Steven's Point. Luckily, they give tours on Mondays at 1p.m. so we made a reservation (not that we really needed one) and hauled ass to get there. We stopped for breakfast beforehand and knew we were going to be about 5 minutes late, so we called and told them. They said no problem, we'll wait for you. Ahh, the luxury of being the only people on a tour. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a giant pointy head, aka their mascot. The story behind it? I don't remember exactly, but I think it was along the lines of "some dude liked beer, and to emphasize the point in Steven's Point (the town), we gave him a conehead." Umm, sweet? We checked in, paid our fee and were taken into the brewing area. By this point, having been on as many tours as I've been on, I can tell you how to make beer in my sleep. However, it's always neat hearing about the history of each brewery, which is why going on tours is always worth it to me. This one was cool because since it was a weekday, we actually got to see things in production. People were running around, doing their thing, and when we got to the canning and bottling part, they were actually doing it and we saw it all going down the line and getting packaged! We also learned that Steven's Point brews beer from other breweries to help them out since SP has more space than smaller places. Who would have thunk it? Our tour guide was cool. She listened to us complain about Chicago beer distribution rules and did her best to answer my bf's complicated questions about the beer making process. After we saw how everything was made, we were taken into a garage like area where they do the tasting. You get three tickets I believe, and you get a beer of your choosing from the tap. The beers were pretty good. Some were a little overzealous on the hops and teetering on being bitter, but overall, I'm a fan. We just chilled and talked to our tour guide about random things and then we were on our way. I don't always see Steven's Point beer in the Chicago area but now I know that they have legit stuff, even though they're a pretty big distributor. Way to go, coneheads! read more

Amazing history with fun brewing facts and local history. Don't let the size of this building fool you... They create and bottle so many beers and ciders. The crew here deserve so much praise. The award winning recipes are fun to try. Family friendly with sodas, ciders and all different types of beers. $5 gets you the tour, a glass and 3 great size samples. If you like it, buy some on your way out and even have a gift shop full of clothing and gifts. Look for brew master Gabe! He is a local legend and master mind behind a lot the creations. No tasting room. Tasting is only offered on tours, which fill up and then your out of luck for the day. I hope I don't spoil anything for anyone here but all brewery tours are basically the same. Cooking, cooling, fermentation, and packaging with a snarky name. Whomever set up the customer experience here is a beer or two short of a 6 pack. I have been to Point Brewery a few times. I have done the tour and have jumped on just at the end for a tasting. In general it is an ok Brewery. You have to book a spot on the tour a head of time. This last time we were there, we just wanted to do the tasting, as the CiderBoys options that were supposed to be there were new from the last time I had been there. We were able to hope in with a tasting group at the end of a tour. With us taking some spots, the tasting was full and there were a lot of us. They guide had a second bartender join them and it is a good thing they did because even with the 2 of them, they could have used at least 1 more. I was actually disappointed in the tasting options. I was really hoping they would have as more of the CiderBoys options. Even though they were on their tasting menu, they did not have them for sampling. It is a good brewery and was a fun tour the times I had previously gone on it, but it my last stop left me wanting more. I would still suggest you stop by for a tour, a tasting or just to buy some stuff. read more

This is a totally worthwhile tour to do, $5 for the tour, plus you get to try 3 products at the end (8oz cup of each), and pint glass on the way out from the gift shop. The tour guide did a nice job of reviewing the history of this brewery and the basics of brewing as we went throughout the facility.
