I love coming here for a nice relaxing lunch. The food is always delicious and comes out rather fast. The menu is dynamic and specials are sometimes things that I wouldn't normally think to choose, but they impress me every time. What could be better than having in-house fresh baked ingredients?! The staff are always very pleasant. And there is a reason the items at the adjacent bakery sell out quick! Seating is limited as the place is small, but I have never had an issue getting a table. There is also a nice area for outside seating on those nicer days. Overall, the prices are fitting for the quality you get and it's fun to do some browsing at their store items while you wait. The baked goods and breads are absolutely phenomenal. I love the Asiago bread, it is amazing on its own but also makes great bread for a sandwich. The actual sandwich menu here rotates often, which shows their dedication to using local ingredients that are seasonal. They have wonderful options that account for allergies and vegetarian options. If I could, I would give this place a 7/5. It's that good -- that it deserves two extra stars! On my way out of town last week, I stopped by this place with modest expectations. WOW. I did not ever think a small town like Point would have such an amazing bakery. Like if Stevens Point is remotely on your route, make sure to do a pit stop here -- it is worth it! Lots of great savory and sweet gluten-rich treats, with a slight twist to make them inventive and delightful. This has got to be one of the best bakeries I've ever visited in my whole life. The only sad thing is because of covid, you can't go inside, so you have to order without being able to see what you're getting. The menu was pretty small (the place is small), so I ended up getting a few things that I normally would avoid (asiago soft pretzel and some monkey bread). Those things that I'd normally avoid?? Possibly the best versions that I've ever had in my life. The pretzel (not pictured bc I ate it ALL) was soft and airy on the inside, while leathery and chewy (in the best crusted gluten type of way) on the outside. There was some herbs and cheese on it and it added a wonderful flavor -- although at the end, it was "almost too much" but didn't quite get into that overwhelming place. I would DEFINITELY order the pretzel again, but it's big enough that you'd either want to share it, eat only half, or eat it on a pretty empty stomach since it's pretty filling and flavorful. The monkey bread -- was surprisingly out of this world. Again, the bakers are on point with their ability to create beautifully fluffy insides that contrast with a great texture outside. In this case, the outside was delightfully crunchy in that way you get when you've got crystalized sugar on it. Aside from that, I also got two cupcakes. The cakey part was wonderfully moist with a dab of extra flavor in the center. The frosting -- I'm a super fan of. It's almost my favorite type of frosting, whipped and airy with a medium amount of sugar. It's not the gross sticky or heavy frostings used by other bakers. Cupcakes are worth it. And finally I got a poptart thing which was pretty good too. Definitely felt like eating a gourmet poptart! They even have a website where you can pre-order and it makes pickup super easy https://www.toasttab.com/the-main-grain-bakery/v3 The only warning is that sometimes what they'll have goodies on-site that are not listed online. Like I can't figure out what that poptart thing is called bc it's not listed anywhere! And the individual serving size cupcakes aren't listed as things you can pre-order, but they were available for purchase on-site in limited quantities. All to say, there are surprise treats to buy on arrival. read more

Main Grain is the stuff dreams are made of! The staff is always patient if you take a long time to decide (which you will, because their bakery items are abundant & each one is fabulous). My first ever dessert was the blueberry cornmeal cookie. Crumbly, perfectly sweet, & very wholesome to taste. I soon got addicted to the flourless peanut butter cookies (even better!) during my early days of fitness when I became more aware of the effects of gluten on my metabolism. Orange almond cheesecake does not disappoint! The oatmeal cream pies are insanely delectable, & actually pretty filling, for a dessert. I don't know quite how they get the glossy finish on the dough of the fig bars, but it adds a touch of crunch to the rich, juicy fig filling. I'm picky about ratios in food, so I don't like when other sweets, say donuts, are all dough & no jelly. Main Grain does not short you on filling with the fig bars, or with anything else. I recently tried the orange pecan cinnamon roll (yep, that exists), & again, the ratio here is superb. No shortage of orange-cinnamon butter between the flaky layers of soft dough, plenty of icing & nuts! For the eatery side, I've only been there once, but I enjoy their variety of locally-sourced, wholesome soups & the Andes mint that comes with each entree. I think their innovative style of ordering & serving is impressive & efficient, taking some of the social awkwardness out of the public dining experience. We came to Main Grain with our friend to pick up some breakfast pastries. Even in the parking lot I could smell the deliciousness of baked goods. When you walk in the smell intensifies and you see a cute display of mouth watering treats. They have some good breakfast options like scones and muffins, to the more decadent cupcake. I went with the chocolate orange scone. It was sooo good! The flavor reminded me of the chocolate oranges that you smash to eat. Nice balance between the citrus and the sweet. The scone itself was well baked. A little crumble to it, but still moist enough that the entire thing doesn't just fall apart. We also got a loaf of their asiago bread. When we got home we made some simple toast with it as dinner, and it was delicious. Really well made bread with good flavors of cheese and herbs. How wonderful that the Main Grain is situated next to Emy J's. The establishment is small but you have access to see the bakery and the bakers working on their creation behind the scene. They have a ton of goodies to offer and it's all organic. You can taste each of the ingredients, love, and care that went into it. The buttercream that sits on the cupcake is dense but it doesn't taste overly sweet or artificial, which I love. The sticky monkey pull apart bread is amazing. It's a dollar or two for the goodness behind the glass so pick a few items or try them all. Cash only. The cashier was helpful and was knowledgable about the items available. You can sneak next door to get a hot or cold beverage to pair with the goodies and walk to Pffiner Park or cozy up inside and savor the moment. read more

Stopped in while driving through town for work and I'm obsessed, I will definitely be stopping in my next trip through town. The variety of baked goods is spectacular and they even have discounted day old baked goods, what a wonderful idea. We purchased 2- 1 day old fire crackers ( a sort of cheddar biscuit with red pepper flakes, yum!) for only $1! Also bought two loafs of bread: and Asiago thyme loaf and cranberry almond, for both it was only $12 and they were still warm. We used Main Grain for our wedding cakes. Sarah Jo was so accommodating and willing to create a flavor for our wedding cake that wasn't on the list. They made a blueberry lemon cake flavor and I asked if she could do blackberry instead and she didn't bat an eyelash. She also agreed to make donuts for our taste test because we were leaning toward donuts instead of cake. They don't even make donuts in the bakery but she agreed to just for our tasting! Now that's customer service! Sarah Jo was very friendly and willing to make anything we could dream up for our cake. The flavors of the cake for our testing were spot on and you can tell she uses quality ingredients. I was thrilled to find out she sources ingredients locally whenever possible. The wedding cake was exactly what we described and we heard nothing but great feedback from our guests about the cake. We even saved the top tier of our cake in the freezer for our year anniversary and it was still delicious, a year later. This place is great. I can't say enough about how good all the breads they make are. For that alone I highly recommend them. If you have a sweet tooth like myself, the oatmeal cream pies are epic. What a lovely bakery! We stopped in on our way through town because my aunt has often brought bakery from this place to share with us. I am in love with their scones, especially the chocolate espresso (although they are all delicious!) On this visit I got their orange chocolate, which was very good. I like that their website lets you know what you can expect to see in the bakery that day. My husband had a chocolate chip cookie, which he said was very good (although maybe just a bit too soft in the middle...he thought it might be soft to the point of slightly raw.)
