Went through the drive thru for smoothies on a Wednesday afternoon. It was super quick service and no one was in line. I got the mother earth smoothie which had mango, banana, blueberry, ginger, spinach, yogurt, and honey. This was super tasty and refreshing, with a little earthiness from the spinach. It had a great kick of ginger, so I assume that they use fresh ginger instead of powder. We also got the takes 2 to mango which was raspberry, mango, banana, yogurt, and honey. This smoothie was a lot more tart and tangy than mother earth, but tastes very fresh. Definitely want to come back for some more smoothies! read more

What a fantastic cafe! Wish I could have tried multiple drinks and bevvies in our stay here, but alas, we could not. Of course I have to give a huge shout out to the barista who was working as she was the sole one there which turned out to be quite a busy Thursday afternoon. She was so efficient in handling the 6+ orders that all came in at once. An absolute gem of a calm personality and super efficient. The cafe itself was super "cute" as my wife and sister would say. Plenty of indoor and outside seating! The tables are really unique in their top designs and overall, feels less like a college cafe and just an awesome place to hang out. Also plenty of treats and ice cream for options to eat! Now for the cappuccino review. Oh yes, I did of course get a cappuccino and as all those who strangely read most of my reviews know this is the meat and potatoes of my cafe reviews. Cappuccino:4.5/5 Excellent cappuccino! Foam to milk to espresso ratio was perfect despite how rushed the barista was. An absolute delight to the weary traveler on a Thursday afternoon! Would for sure recommend it. Quaint little coffee place.... heard the coffee is excellent here.... However, we chose to partake in the smoothies. We enjoyed our smoothies- however, both had mango and they were out (total bummer)- yet... they were kind enough to add whatever we wanted... so I added raspberry and rather enjoyed my new creation.... This place is nice, but there paper straws where not the best. I couldn't even use it, and my girlfriends paper straw didn't last longer then a minute. The cashier didn't seem like he even wanted to be there. He forgot the muffin that we ordered. There wasn't that many people there. I have seen some people with sandwiches and chips, but when I asked about the food menu, he only pointed to the display case at the end of the counter. read more

I appreciate the local spots in Stevens Point...this place is no different. Comfortable setting, which hanging art and comfortable music. Friendly and casual staff, which brought me back to my time in Seattle. Limited menu of wraps, sandwiches, soups, and salads...which is just fine! Really good Bison wrap, fresh and delicious! Had a randomly ordered almond milk latte, which was made to perfection. I've also heard from co-workers the soups available are amazing. Will no doubt make this a weekly lunch stop! read more

With all the "granola and tree hugger" charm of a college town bistro, this place offers something a bit different than the traditional fare. I just got some ice cream here, the birthday cake flavor, and it was good ice cream too, and pretty cheap for a small cup. There also accept Belly rewards card, which is also a nice was to reward frequent customers. Emy J's is a little nice shop, that has great music, and atmosphere to dine it. I was hoping for a better experience here. The hype was nothing. I went in for ice cream. It felt cramped inside and the people sitting down looked uncomfortable. I would be too if across the table are a line of people waiting or order or bending over to look at the ice cream freezer. After I got my ice cream, I left. There was no where to sit and it was too hot to be inside. The only thing I enjoyed was the ice cream: The Elvis - peanut butter, jelly, and banana. Absolutely love the food here. My friend's and I visit maybe once a month, and it provides both vegan and non options. The burritos are great! The atmosphere is usually relaxed- I would suggest going on an off time if you want more of the dining room to yourself. It gets quite busy around noon and such. For the most part, the staff is friendly and helpful. I've had one or two snarky experiences, but nothing personal and nothing to persuade me not to continue dining here. read more

One of my favorite study spots! Strong free WiFi, ample seating, great outdoor patio. There are some little niceites that make this place special, like a selection of board games to play, a dog water bowl on the patio, lots of local goods for sale. I've gotten a variety of drinks here and have always been pleased! I even requested a "frozen matcha lemonade" (not a menu item) and the baristas were happy to make exactly what I wanted! I like my lemonade flavor more sour than sweet, and this was exactly that! I got a scone once and it was quite stale and bland. I came one day with an intense craving for soup and was pleased to see a Lentil & Swiss Chard soup featured. I was disappointed when told that the soup was "on it's last leg" and not recommended. I ended up going with the "Dollie Llama" veggie sandwich, which was fine. There are a lot of other yummy looking items on the menu and quite a few vegetarian and vegan options, so I plan to try more. read more

Coffee: I appreciate what Emy J's is trying to do, along with roasting their coffee in house. However, I just find the coffee to be lacking. Most of the coffee is over-roasted and loses all its uniqueness and just tastes charcoaly. The baristas are adequate, but lack any real technical skill. I notice a lack of continuity between the different baristas. Some are capable of pulling decent shots and steaming milk, some have very bitter or sour shots, and scalded milk. Overall, it is still better than what you typically find in this area - it just needs a little push to get over the hump and into true specialty coffee. Food: I actually enjoy the sandwiches and wraps here. They are nothing super-special, but they are reasonably priced and are a good mid-day meal. The food does come out a little slow at times, but it's never been too big of an issue. Service/Atmosphere: I find this to be a comfortable place to sit and chat for a while. It's simple and homely. The staff overrall is friendly and helpful. read more

Huge coffee and tea selection, great smoothies, delicious ice cream, AND a full lunch menu made with mostly local products= just what Stevens Point needed. I love the menu's variety- everything has a unique twist, such as the sweet potato quesadilla that I had yesterday...yum. It's always bustling, yet there is pretty much always somewhere to sit- and free Wifi! It's kind of a bummer location because it isn't very conducive to walking there, but everything else about the place makes up for that one thing that isn't really their fault. read more

We waited 6 minutes before being acknowledged at the counter to order food. It took 11 minutes to get our food. Oops. Wrong order as they missed the Gluten Free wrap. 24 minutes later, we had our Gluten Free wraps. I had the Sumatran and it was awful. Way too many onions! The Mango salsa was good, but way to much cilantro for my taste. My boyfriend had the Pesto Chicken Wrap. He said it was fair, but not enough stuff on the inside. The food was ok, so I may return. However, the service was horrendous and that makes me not want to go back ever. read more

I went to Cafe Expresso (it's inside Emy J's) looking for some vegan soup, which they didn't have at the time. However, the manager? was nice enough to offer me the next day's soup which was vegan! It was delish & I was super happy to find that it was made from local ingredients too. They can make anything on the menu vegan if you ask. The only problem I had was that although the bowl of soup was decently priced at 3.25, the rest of the stuff on the menu was quite expensive, especially since it is the same price vegan - the flesh (meat). Overall, it's a great place though & I will be back. I love the atmosphere. Emy J's was very disappointing... they didn't offer any vegan desserts or ice cream, or anything for that matter. I give this place 1 star, but Cafe Expresso gets 4! read more
