I still think this place is just the best place for breakfast in Marshfield. The now owner was a server when I was a kid and really creates a "Mom's Kitchen" kinda feel. Portions may be a bit smaller, but I never leave hungry. I've always had good service here. The people are friendly. The food comes out pretty quickly. The space is smaller and quaint. A bit of counter space is available along with two large communal tables. There are also small tables if you're not up for talking with new neighbors. The decor is dated, but that is part of the charm. Between the homemade food, kind service, and decor, coming here feels like a visit to grandma's house. It's wonderful! What a great place to find. Cute and cozy with smiling faces to welcome you. We both had omelettes and they were the best we have had in a long time. Filled well and cooked perfectly, best part not at all greasy. Served with homemade toast and mixed fruit. Jam and marmalade in bowls on the table. No plastic jam packets or creamers in sight. We would be regulars here if it wasn't an hour away. We will still manage to get here as often as we can. Not open Sunday so no after church drive. read more

This place has the best salad dressing I have ever had in my life. Well it's as good as any homemade deliciousness any family has tucked away in a secret recipe book. This is a small diner with a limited menu, open for breakfast and lunch only. But you won't be sorry you stopped in. I didn't have the experience of the other reviewers who mentioned slow service, because within ten minutes of taking my order, my breakfast was on the table, hot and perfectly cooked. I ordered the peasant omelet. It was a little different than I was used to in that it had meat where I'm used to a no-meat variety. But I have to admit, I may be a convert. The toast was the bigger "texas toast" variety. The table had a small bowl of what tasted like homemade strawberry preserves that was a perfect accompaniment. I especially liked the fruit that came with the meal. It was nice surprise. The portions were pretty large and it was good that I was hungry. I'd hate to have wasted it. There are only a few tables here, ranging from a two-top to a ten or twelve-top, so I can understand how this could easily become a go-to place for a group wanting a place where they won't get lost in the crowd. Despite all the tables being full, the waitress managed to keep up with everything, making sure the coffee was topped off, and no-one had to wait too long for their food, coffee, or change. read more

So fresh, fast, friendly and delicious. I loved the communal table, the cosy atmosphere. While it was packed on a weekday for lunch, everyone was hustling and the food came out quickly. My mushroom omelette was simple and just right. We were impressed by the variety and quality of the fruit that came on the plate with our omelets. This is a good little gem in town a block off Central. The Yelp map, for me, was not entirely accurate. The bonus at this place is the fruit that comes with most meals. The bread is homemade and you get one slice. They only take cash or check. The food is good. I don't think I would make this a regular spot. read more

We were in Marshfield for the first time, running an errand. Dropped into The Kitchen Table for a late breakfast. Lucky find. Off the main street. Intimate setting. Everything was great. I had an omelet which was perfect. My wife had eggs and pancakes also great. We noted how good the whole wheat bread was (I guess they started as a bakery so not surprising) and got a loaf to go. Service was attentive but not bothersome. When I commented to the proprietress how good our meals were she said they were made with love - and you can tell. read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way home from camping. Very cute place. Had an amazing lunch. They are only open until 2 and we got there at 1:35 and they were very welcoming and accommodating! Had their spinach dip omelette and my husband had the Caroline's salad. So much warm turkey on the salad. Both delicious. They make their own bread which was so good and they make their own vinaigrette. Also a must try if you have a salad. I also topped my omelette with their homemade salsa! Yum! Hidden gem! Thank goodness the Perkins in Stevens Point had no cars in the parking lot, we took this as a sign to go elsewhere and that's when we found The Kitchen Table. The service was attentive, explaining a few menu items before we made our decisions. My husband had 2 eggs, potatoes, toast with a side of bacon. The eggs were cooked well, the toast was good ( ask for the homemade strawberry jam, it's excellent!) and the bacon was thick cut and cooked through without being dried out. I had the Eggs Benedict which was excellent. It was served over their own wheat bread with thin nicely sliced ham and perfectly poached eggs and topped with a rich creamy hollandaise sauce. Both meals were served with fresh fruit mix. The fruit mix itself was great, not your standard cantaloupe, honeydew and a couple of grapes mix. You got apples, orange sections, watermelon, strawberries, banana, kiwi as well as the usual grapes and cantaloupe. Overall it was a great breakfast. Wish we could've stayed for lunch as their homemade pies sounded delicious! Well worth a visit. read more

I feel a bit guilty for not giving this place five stars.....but, i feel that is what it is. It is a favorite with the locals as is indicated by the groups that were having lunch together. The place is quite small with a sort of low ceiling making me feel a bit cramped. No booths, and tables were a bit crowded with the person at the next table. I had a bacon and cheese omelet which was very good. It came with fresh fruit and home made toast. The fruit was very good but the toast...wasn't! I love toast, what i got was warm and limp buttered bread. Not my favorite! My wife had a tuna sandwich with tomato and cheese on home made toasted whole wheat bread. She said it was delicious! One unisex toilet was clean and overall the place was very clean. Street parking and restaurant is located just off the main street. Prices were a tad on the higher end with my omelet was $8.50, probably higher because of the fruit. I could have a third piece of toast instead of the fruit. Staff was pleasant. Confession: I haven't eaten here since I was a teenager. Growing up in Marshfield, the KT was a staple. We kind of chuckled at the fact that the menu had never changed (since they opened; 1979?), and there were no (I mean NO) substitutions allowed. Since I was a vegetarian, I always ordered the gigantic fruit salad with honey lemon dressing. Looking at the photos and reading the reviews, it seems the restaurant is essentially unchanged. And that is awesome. I eagerly await brunch there next time I'm in town. Fruit salad for me! :) read more

I'm a pie fanatic. I've eaten delicious pies in 48 of the 50 states, and the slice of cranberry walnut pie I had at The Kitchen Table just might be the very best pie I ever tasted. Big walnut halves, juicy cranberries & an incredible brown, flaky crust. The meal was excellent, too. My wife & I both had a bowl of Southwest Chicken soup, with homemade wheat toast. Superb. And so was the service. The Kitchen Table is one of those little mom & pop places that wouldn't get your attention if you drove past. (It's a block off the main drag.)
