This review is not for the Dentist because I've been hearing good reviews about him, but this is for her front assistant/scheduler VERONICA. I work in medical field, but so far she has the worst customer service ever.! My husband's got a referral from our primary dentist to see Dr. Baba for a root canal. I called the office and tried to schedule him for an evaluation. She asked me the basics and asked about our insurance card or number (which I can't provide for some reason) I even told her that the office already sent them a referral email but she kept saying she didn't receive anything so I had to call them back and re-send it to her. She told me she'll follow-up within the next day but I never recieved any call. Then I had to call again and she scheduled us to see the doctor (just in case) in a certain date this month and that she will try to see the benefits of our insurance -- AGAIN. Which only means until now she didn't do anything about it. She told me she'll call me before the scheduled appointment, but then again, WE DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY CALL. So I called her last minute and ask about our scheduled appointment for tomorrow and she said that she's glad that I called becoz it's almost time for her to go home. (Dafuq do I care? You didn't even do your job!) and Until now, she doesn't know how much benefit we can get from our insurance (which only means again, she didn't work on it) and put me on hold becoz for the last 10 minutes "she'll try to call the insurnce company". And for the last time as of this moment, NO CALL RECEIVE FROM HER! Nice one, VERONICA! This is very proefessional of you! Way too much arrogant and very incompetent with dealing things like this. I am pleased to say I just had my 1yr followup visit for a root canal done last summer....& as with everything in this office....it went smoothly!! (For those like me who need to know these things: they are taking Covid seriously: masks, gloves, plexiglass around the receptionist area, Covid questions when you book the appt, temperature check, & a peroxide mouth rinse upon arrival......so don't put off your root canal!!!) A little background: Now, I've had numerous fillings, crowns, root canals over the years. But, the nearby dr in Orange that I was sent to (& his aggressive, angry staff) was so dreadful on my first visit, that I had to bring a friend to sit in the room & advocate for me.....as I was sobbing with fear as I went back for the second half of the procedure! So, I called my dentist & asked for someone else! He referred me to Dr. Baba!!! From the moment I called Julie to set up the appt, I relaxed. She was so cheerful, understanding, and helpful. Once I arrived, I knew I was in good hands. Not only was Julie nice.....the whole office was!!! Ashley took great care of me....& Dr. Baba is both great at what he does....but also explained everything completely, & was joking with me & his staff. He & Ashley were having a fun conversation about old rock bands...trying to stump each other....the silliness put me at ease. Nobody Wants a root canal.....but if you need one?? I highly recommend Dr. Baba and this office in general. I called with a dental emergency. I was in excruciating pain due to an abscess at the root of one of my incisors. I could not sleep. Dr. Baba agreed to see me and stay after hours with his assistant Ashley. They saw me at 5:30 PM! They worked until 7 pm and got my root canal done and got me out of pain. I am beyond impressed. Dr. Baba is an amazing Doctor. He did my first root canal about 6 years ago and a few weeks ago my second root canal. Him and his assistant work really good together and are always playing some great music while they do their work. The facility is really nice too. I was referred to an endodontist that was much closer to my house but since my first root canal was such a good experience I was willing to drive the extra 5 miles no problem. If you are looking for a good experience with a root canal this is the place to go. I'm really glad I went to him for his experience is unsurpassed. Dr. Baba and his staff are amazing. I have been very scared of dentists so I held off on having a root canal procedure performed. Plus, I am a mom, a student and I work full time so I have little to no time. So when I booked my appointment I had major anxiety. Well all that stress went away as soon I walked into Dr. Baba's office. The staff is very friendly and they have positive energy. Let me tell you! Dr. Baba has the hands of an angel. Never did I feel a shot or any of the pinches he warned that I might feel. He was super thorough in explaining everything. He made me feel very comfortable. The best part about the procedure was that after the numbing medication wore off, I never felt that awkward tingling feeling. It was actually a pretty awesome procedure and I felt no pain. Called left message to schedule, no return call after a week. Spoke with staff, they argued about talking with me when they hadn't, offered an appointment 5 weeks out, whilst I have an active abscess needing immediate attention. Asked to have doctor informed, no reply back. This firm was recommended by friends, but clearly don't care about new clients. The doctor is not supported by caring front office staff, this is an indication if the kind of care, or lack I'm gonna to receive in the chair, no thank you. It's too bad. Had my first, and hopefully last, root canal. It's never a fun experience when you know you're going to have someone carving a crater into your tooth for several hours, but Dr. Baba and his staff made the experience as wonderful as they could possibly have made it. Julie and Ashley were absolutely amazing and Dr. Baba was informative, gentle, and accommodating. I have TMJD so instead of using the block he usually uses to keep patients' mouths open, he allowed me to adjust and open and closed as needed throughout the procedure to alleviate future soreness in my jaw post procedure. He also makes absolutely sure that you feel absolutely NOTHING before starting work on you. His team is extremely friendly and they all work amazingly together. After my procedure, I was told I would have some soreness around the tooth for a few days to a week, but I just had the root canal yesterday and I'm chewing on nuts and protein bars on that tooth just fine! The only thing so is my jaw, but that is because of my TMJD. Should I (God forbid) ever need another root canal, this will definitely be my first choice. read more

Before he performed my root canal he kindly took the time to let me know all my options and even explained to me what he was going to do/look for during the procedure . It was a breeze . When he numbed my mouth I felt nothing, forever grateful since I am terrified of needles. I had to get an emergent root canal so my dentist referred me to Dr. Baba's office, and they were able to take me in the same day. Anxious and afraid for my first root canal, I came into the office and was welcomed by friendly employees, Julie and Ashley, in particular, even though I was their last patient for the day. Let me start off by saying, I don't have the best teeth and I knew, eventually, I'd be in need of root canals. Just those two words terrified me! So I did my best to take care of my teeth and make all my dental appointments in the hopes that I would not need any serious work for a long time. Fast-forward to crashing on my roller skates, jaw first, cracking my jaw in multiple places as well as several teeth, breaking my arm in two places and tearing my rotator cuff. I was devastated - and mostly about my teeth. After having my jaw wired shut for 5 weeks, I started on my dental work. A prosthodontist said I would need several root canals and recommended Dr. Baba for the work. This was not going to be a normal root canal. I could only open my mouth a small amount since my jaw was still very fragile, held together by plates. I was still in pain from the other injuries, but just wanted to bite the bullet and get it over width. After two surgeries, I've been in and out of many doctors' office now and out of all the surgeries, procedures, appointments from my ordeal, Dr. Baba and his staff were the BEST PART of the entire recovery experience. I first talked on the phone with Julie who was warm and understanding. She assured me the root canals weren't going to be any where as bad as what I was thinking. She really put my mind at ease and kept me from dreading the day. Dr. Baba's assistant, Ashley was amazing in taking care of me, and getting me to relax. And Dr. Baba was the best Dr. I've ever had. He was so kind and understanding, very delicate with my jaw, always telling me what he was going to be doing and what I would feel, which was pretty much no pain at all. He made sure of it. He gave me breaks knowing my jaw would tire easily, and a couple of bathroom breaks. He and Ashley had great rapport and had me giggling once or twice. The whole procedure was as easy as it could have been. I've already had two root canals by Dr. Baba and will be having my third soon, and I'm not dreading it one bit! In fact, I'd prefer a root canal over another dental procedure at this point. One thing I want to stress. If you are in need of a root canal, see a specialist. Don't have your family dentist do it. This is very specialized work. And I've heard some stories by friends who have had root canals by general dentists and none of them went well. Oh, and I'd recommend Dr. Baba every time. read more

Dr.Baba is AMAZING!! I had to get a root canal for a mass I had above a crown. He told me initially it MIGHT take 3-4 sessions for him to get it all. He was right on. He is VERY thorough and VERY kind and friendly. You can sense his enthusiasm for his job. He didn't treat me as just "another patient", every experience I felt was personal and to be honest I was looking forward to my next session every time. He was so gentle I would nap at every session!! I highly recommend visiting his office. His staff is super friendly as well! I had very minimal discomfort after only the second session, but nothing a couple Motrin didn't resolve. First off this was my First Root Canal & I would like to point out that some insurances have different methods of paying the Doctor for treatment. My insurance left me with a $270 Balance. Before the treatment started I was given a waiver to sign outlining the breakdown. My Root Canal consisted of two separate appointments both roughly 90 minutes long. At No point was it explained my portion was due on my Second visit. I later had this explained to me by my actual Dentist that because an Endodontic Dentist doesn't expect to see you again so they don't Bill. So with that said I wasn't prepared for $270 charge & asked if I could get a Pre Treatment Statement so I could forward that to my HSA for reimbursement. I was immediately told by Julie that I would at least need to pay something so I offered $50 (I Live Paycheck to Paycheck & single) & said it would take 2 Business Days to receive my FSA reimbursement & once received I'd call for a over the phone Debit Card payment. At this point it was taken to Doctor Baba for his determination. Less then 2 minutes later Julie comes out of the Office & says that Full Payment would be do & that Dr. Baba would need that before we could start. This is why I only will only give 3 stars to Doctor Babas Practice & that was even hard, I almost feel like the Office deserved 2, Julie then had the audacity to tell me then that I would be charged $50 on top of the $270 for a NO SHOW fee since I was taking that appointment slot away. Completely unprofessional if I might add. Luckily I have an amazing sister so I scrambled & called the "Bank of Sister" to assist with a loan just so I could be seen. All in all Dr. Baba is a Great Doctor & his assist Ashley is awesome too & pretty cute I might add, but from my encounter with the Patient payment plan addressed with Receptionist Julie I was completely embarrassed, irritated, & felt like a total jackass. Professionalism goes a long way with me, especially from working for Costco where our MEMBERS pay to shop with US but guys like me who don't have Credit Cards & need detailed explanation of every form of treatment from procedure to even how to pay the Bill don't expect that from JULIE. She'll just make you feel like you want to to just make a point on Yelp. I would definitely recommend Dr. Baba for anyone seeking a Professional Root Canal but don't be a idiot like me & if your Flex Spending account Sucks like fine because the IRS has to babysit a Doctor Bill make sure to be prepared to pay your portion BEFORE the Service is rendered. read more

Dr. Baba Steven is an exceptional endodontist!! I had a complicated root canal situation which could not be taken care by a regular dentist but Dr. Baba fixed it like it was a piece of cake. During my first appointment, he went over my X-ray results and spent first 15 minutes explaining me my tooth situation and the possible issues which are not visible through the X-ray. He then gave a solution to each possible issue, assuring good treatment and just not scaring me like other dentists. He is so good with his root canaling that I didnt even feel a pinch of pain. He treated my tooth successfully without any problem. He was extremely thorough, detail oriented,efficient and caring. He provided me the top notch dental service I could have ever asked for. I brought my sister in law to him for a root canal, she has a huge fear of going to the dentist, he took so much time just talking with her and making sure she felt comfortable. I haven't had much dental work so when I needed a root canal I was referred to Dr. Baba by my General Dentist. His staff was absolutely the friendliest group of ladies and his dental hygienist was terrific! I was in so much pain, Dr. Baba explained the whole process to me in detail. Every part of the root canal itself was painless! There was no hassle with my insurance and no up selling ! I would HIGHLY recommend this office. I had a similar problem as the first review listed below. I came in for a 2nd opinion which my primary dentist (not anymore) called personally to make my appointment for a tooth. I went in and was aware that I was needing a consultation, hence the 2nd opinion. An assistant came in to do my x rays, which I didn't know I was going to be billed such a high amount because no one told me I was going in for x rays. My original x rays were sent to this office prior to my appointment. This place is a scam, and the front desk lady is very rude! I would of liked to know what I was going to be fully billed for in advance to the consultation and know all procedures that were going to occur before going into the exam room. At a meeting with my Dentist it was determined that one of my teeth had an infection and would need to have a root canal performed. My Dentist of 20+ years recommended Dr. Steven Baba whom he considers one of the best endodontists in Southern California and an appointment was made. As anyone who has ever had a root canal performed can attest, it is a difficult process and one that is not pleasant. That said, Dr. Baba successfully completed my procedure in a manner that I can only classify as amazing. He made sure that I was fully informed about what was involved in the procedure, advised of any risks, made sure I understood what to expect on a go forward basis and best of all, performed the procedure with minimal discomfort. Supporting Dr. Baba is a staff of office and medical personnel who are professional, pleasant, caring, and understanding of their patients.
