I think I may be one of the worst dental patients. I don't mind going to the dentist for cleanings and getting work done, but for some reason, once they recline that chair and there are tools entering my mouth, and I can't see what's going my brain begins to panic and I have mini anxiety attacks! Over the years, I have had to go visit Dr. Fang a few different times and each time I have left thanking him and his staff profusely. I want to take a moment and share my exceptional experience i had with Dr. Fang and his office. I am currently in my second trimester of pregnancy and for the past weeks, i was suffering from excruciating pain from my infected tooth. Due to the pregnancy, i was hesitant on taking any pain med. I immediately called Dr. Fang who did my first root canal 3 years ago (no complications whatsoever) to make an appointment. His scheduling coordinator was so kind to call me back a day after to notify me of the cancellation and that they were able to book in for an earlier appointment. Throughout my whole root canal, Dr. Fang made it so comfortable for me. He kept reassuring me that everything will be fine. Root canal procedures are not pleasant to begin with, but being pregnant, it was even more stressful for me. Dr. Fang took precautious xrays prior to the procedure to make sure the root canal was necessary. Throughout the whole procedure, i felt no pain and i could tell he was very thorough with the procedure. The assistant was also very attentive and made sure i was comfortable. Zero stars! Made an urgent appointment due to a tooth infection. Had to wait two days, bummer but ok. On the day of my appointment had a slight fever, duh I have a tooth inflection, no other COVID-19 symptoms or exposure to COVID-19. They refused to see me! They just kicked me out!They did not provide any antibiotics or pain medication and told me to go to the ER! The ER, seriously?! The worse customer service and treatment. I am 100% for safety during this pandemic, but have some basic common sense and do your job! You're an urgent dental provider!! I have already submitted a grievance with the Dental Board of CA. I don't usually write reviews, but Dr. Fang is great and needed to be recognized. The appointment and confirmation call were without any hassle, a smooth process. And due to COVID, the friendly staffs have to make sure that only one patient is in the clinic at all time, and in addition to the one patient rule, they included the provision of disposable face masks, shower cap, shoe cover, and glove for patient. Overall, they made me feel very safe, and made me feel that the staffs are very thoughtful in the whole process. After things are ready, I was led to a room for x-ray, and explanation of the procedure. I was a bit nervous, but Dr. Fang is very professional in his mannerism, but he also shows a caring side when speaking with me. Extremely impolite impatient! My mom had a consultation. The consultation was merely 20 minutes & he already tried to push us out. The office lobby was dark, hung hundreds of Christian mission pictures on walls that he took at various places globally. One would have thought ok he must be a patient loving christian guy. Don't be fooled! The way he treated my mom, 75 years old, was very rush (already taken off his gloves while my mom was still on the diagnostic chair asking questions), very impolite, kept on saying "ok the teeth are not good, pull them all out, i can't do it here, do it at another oral surgeon, ok, that's it, ...). Sure we understand the elderly people teeth can be bad, but we just want to understand what's going on & what procedures to expect and/or options we can have. The x-ray pictures taken was very bad, very unclear. I wrote an email to their office concerning his bad attitude, they never replied. Never. Oh I just knew he knows not only my church pastor, but alot more other church people. What a hypocrite! We later went to another dentist, cheaper, & extremely patient & took 2 hours to answers all our questions. read more

Someone named Julie in the front office attempted to extort $180 from me before my visit, despite my dental insurance covering my visit. For all these 5 STAR YELP Reviews for Denny Fang and Presitge Orthodontics right after your procedure. I feel you. I wrote one too. But please benefit from the experience of someone 5 years later: DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, RUN!!!!! Within 5 years all of the expensive, moderately painful root canals I received were for no reason at all. And yours are at risk too. Because they all failed. They all had to be redone, which is *not* a nice procedure, and it's very painful and expensive. Fang used an outdated, old fashioned paste, even by his standards, to fill the root canal. This cheap stuff was eventually outlawed, but not before Fang did thousands of root canals with it. if you read my other yelp reviews, you know that I'm a reasonable person. But when someone does not one, but TWO root canals that are very expensive, (and can we talk about Denny Fang's breath? does he gargle sardines? OMG his breath stinks. And two hours is a long time to have someone breath directly into your noe and mouth) that FAIL and cost you thousands of dollars down the line when they have to be redone by a good dentist, it's time to warn people. DO NOT GO HERE. When my new endodontist saw the x-rays of Fang's work he was flabbergasted. He asked, "Did a general dentist do these? Because no endodontist could make such glaring errors. They are all failed". I replied, sadly, no, they were done by Denny Fang in Irvine at Prestige (ha!) Orthodontics. THEN after he reopened all the old root canals Denny had done, he was visibly shocked and angered. I was dreading having a root canal. I had my only other root canal when I was 11 years old and I am now 39 but if you must have a root canal Dr. Denny Fang is the endodontist for you. He, along with his office staff, are very helpful, professional, and pleasant. They made the root canal feel like a walk in the park. They are straightforward with explaining billing and you fully understand before any work is done which is what I like. From the moment you walk into his office you feel welcomed and feel like you are in good hands. Dr. Fang is the best! He knows what he is doing and he does it well. I have relatively no discomfort. I was given an antibiotic to take for the next few days and a pain medication should I have any discomfort. I took a pain pill but honestly feel that I may not have needed it but took it to just take precautions so that I can get some rest tonight. I wish that I could have everyone come to Dr Fang which is good and bad. Good in that people will have a positive experience with a root canal and that Dr. Fang will have constant business but then again bad in that if I should need further procedures he may be booked solid. I think they justify the prices according to how souped up their equipment is - TV above the patient chair, monitor w/printable digital x-rays/files, and glasses you can keep after the procedure like when you get lasic. A molar root canal is $1300 without insurance. The small space is decorated w/souvenirs from Dr. Fang's volunteer trips and the front desk is nice enough but gave me wrong drug information. The assistants obviously need more training/experience (they don't have all supplies prepped for procedure - even Dr. Fang was like, "Why isn't XYZ ready?" two seconds in, they don't know how to put x-ray film in your mouth without cutting you, and they don't know how to use the suction - I swallowed a lot of ill-tasting meds. I think Dr. Fang was one of those students who didn't internalize bedside manner class b/c it was too uncomfortable for him. He briefs you before the procedure but doesn't talk during it to explain what/why he's doing what he's doing when he causes you pain. He disappears after he's done and doesn't go over how the procedure went or any post-care guidelines. I only saw Dr. Fang's face once before everything happened and the entire experience wasn't very goodpants. I've probably been to the dentist 2-3x more than most : ( but Dr. Fang, even if he proves to have done a good procedure (I'll have to see in the years to come if he did my root canal well), didn't give much confidence or reassurance that he did as well as other dentists could do. The temporary filling he left still has marks of the dental tool he used to push the material into my tooth and it's short, whereby I feel like part of the filling isn't providing enough protection until I get my crown and its edge cuts my tongue when it brushes past. I've only had one other dentist that did a finish as lazy as this and even though he is the dentist for the President and high officials of Taiwan, I don't like that dood either. Dr. Fang kept looking up and away either at the clock or something else WHILE he stabbed my roots with the cleaning needle. It was as if he was under stress to finish the procedure within 45 minutes, had OCD, or both. I have a high threshold for pain but I'm also someone that needs more anesthesia in general when it gets seriouspants. I probably should have told this to Dr. Fang beforehand just to be helpful but he didn't seem too happy having to give me 2-3x more anesthesia - obvious because after much silence while I indicated pain when he repeatedly jabbed thru my nerve to my bone, he tried to make it my wrong by making a quip about how I was too tense/had muscles too tight and that's why the anesthesia wasn't working and then at the end of the procedure, said I have "psycho-nerves." I'm suprised I didn't need the painkillers after the procedure (thank my resilience to pain) b/c he was pretty rough throughout. I don't think I'll recommend him to anyone I know - even if it's someone I don't particularly enjoy simply b/c there are other dentists I know that are cheaper and provide a more positive vibe + guarantee of good dental work. I went to Dr Fang today for an evaluation, for a possible root canal. After x rays, and an exam, he told me that I don't need a root canal but I need the tooth removed and a crown put on. I appreciated his thoroughness and honesty. He was so very nice, very caring and wasn't going to do a procedure that wasn't necessary. Sunday night, my daughter, age 7, at bowling she tripped and fell face down. She broke both of her permanent front tooth, one only has half remaining, the other 2/3. Our family was in such panic that just by thinking about the consequences in her life made us sleepless for the entire night. Monday morning, Martin Luther King's Birthday, we called Dr. Fang at around 8:00AM and left an urgent message, the office opens at 9:00AM. Within 10 minutes Dr. Fang called back and told us to come in, he is able to see us right a way. We went into the office at 9:05AM, within 5 minutes my daughter started X-Ray and CT-Scan (3D Imagery) of upper mouth. Dr. Fang gave us insights to what are the possibilities due to the fact that my daughter's teeth are still growing and the roots are not full developed yet. He took action to fix the immediate problem, my daughter was at ease. The work by Dr. Fang is exceptional. Dr. Fang is caring, friendly, and most important of all knowledgeable. He said he would send the x-rays and report to my dentist, but he never did! I had my root canal done yesterday. I was dreading the procedure all week. Let me tell you, I've had plenty of root canals, and this one so far has felt better than any other. Maybe this tooth's root wasn't as complex as the others I've had, maybe it is that Dr. Fang is great at what he does. Like others have said, my procedure also took right around 45 minutes. I was seated in the dental chair at 4:35. After the xrays, procedure, etc..I was out of there by 5:15. So the actually root canal procedure took a lot less than 45 minutes. Need a root canal? Dr Fang is THE guy to go to. I've never had a root canal before so I came in nervous and anxious. The entire procedure was 45 min and the only small bit of pain I ever felt were the novocaine shots.
