I had a little tooth pain so came in to check. Dr. Mehta took a 2d scan, no cold or pressure testings and assessed in 2 mins and strongly recommended me to remove my molar and wisdom teeth, and that I have a crack extended past my root and infection into bone. Felt like a quick money grab to come back for implant. I went to 3 other endodontist after for their opinions. All gave me full 3D scans, pressure and cold tests. All said crack did not extend past the crown and not even a root canal is needed. I was able to save my tooth with a crown. Also get multiple opinions for surgery! read more

Dr. Mehta is outstanding! I went to him after receiving a botched root canal that left me with a piece of broken tool in my mouth and infection in the bone. Nasty. I had root canal done with Dr Mehta. It took only 30 minutes. I had some swelling on cheeks on the day of surgery, but it went away next day. Dr Mehta followed up with me in the evening following surgery and answered all my questions satisfactorily. Office staff was very courteous and gave me clear information regarding payment expectations ahead of time. The Doctor personally emailed me and Contradicted what I've heard from other Endodontics in the area. First it went from A root canal retreatment to Ozone and laser treatments and the fees went from $1480 average for a retreat to $2,000 plus dollars. Please have some God in your lives and stop being so selfish with these fees and stop lying to your patients about what they need. Then she emails me with this Threat ! Not knowing that these reviews are Protected under the 1st Amendment and it is Freedom of speech. Dr. Mehta's response : I understand your concerns but the fact that you think it's only some "drilling and disinfecting" suggests you have a misconception of what we do. Dr. Mehta pulled out the wrong dental implant! Yes, that is right. An endontist that has been in practice many, many years made a drastic mistake. A mistake in dentistry that should not ever be done. It did happen and it happened to my husband, Mike. I'm am writing this Yelp review since I am a Yelper and my husband is not. I am constantly reviewing Yelp for everyone's honest reviews. Unfortunately, I did not review Dr. Mehta's prior Yelp reviews before my husband's new patient appointments. I am hoping to help anyone who would like to see Dr. Mehta in the best future. This past summer my husband was referred to Dr. Mehta by his reputable dentist for a dental implant replacement of his right, front tooth. First Mike had to be seen prior to the implant removal for a $180 consultation. A quick x-ray and consultation was done. It seemed like a fairly simple procedure - removal of a temporary crown and a bad dental implant on his right, front tooth. A week after the consultation, Mike went in for the removal. He had his mouth open wide, completely numb and then the procedure took place. The doctor was aggressively trying to remove the temporary crown that was on the implant. It took much longer than he expected. After the removal, Mike looked in the mirror and exclaimed to the doctor that he pulled out the wrong tooth! The doctor said in all his years of practice that he had never done this before. Dr. Mehta stated he was just following the infection. Mike did not understand the doctor's explanation - he actually went in for the consultation only a week prior to and there was no mention of an infection on his left temporary crown and implant of his left, front tooth. Even after the incorrect procedure was done, the front desk still required payment for pulling out the wrong crown and implant, $1800. I was extremely surprised my husband still ended up paying for the mistake. I honestly think he was still in shock that he just went through that unbelievable, painful and stressful ordeal. The doctor said to make another appointment and he would replace the correct, bad implant for no cost at his next visit. *** The right thing to do was not to charge anything at all *** Especially during these trying times, businesses need to work efficiently with integrity and with great ethics. read more

STOP! Dr. Mehta and his office staff are very unprofessional and unscrupulous. Let me save you the misery. In the same complex is Dr. Farshad Seyedein 13420 Newport Ave STE H, (714) 852-3626. He and his staff are everything Dr. Mehta and his staff need to be. I was talked into seeing Dr. Mehta by a dentist in the same complex. I was squeezed in. I was charged $233 for an x-ray and a 5 minute consult. Dr. Seyedein charged me $343 for two 2 hours visits which included scans, x-rays, microscopic exam, medication and exceptional professionalism, courtesy and customer service. I questioned one of Dr. Mehta's charges for a pulp vitality test, $53. I asked the staff what it was. Their response was, "the doctor doesn't give out that information." I looked it up. I doubted the test was performed, but more importantly, the tooth in question had a previous root canal meaning there was no pulp left in that tooth. I have asked 4 other dentist/endodontist all of which have said there was no need for the test to be done. read more

I saw Dr. Mehta last week for tooth pain, I ended up needing a root canal. He was able to take care of me the same day! I was incredibly grateful. It took a while for me to overcome the stress and anxiety caused by negligence and dishonesty of this practice to get myself to write this review. I was a loyal customer of Dr. Mehta for 8 years since 2011. In addition to charging my dental insurance enormous sums, I have paid them out of pocket a total of approximately $12K. The quality of the dental work performed by Dr. Mehta was acceptable till January, 2017 when things made a horrible turn for the worse. Here is what happened: I came to the office in December of 2016 with severe bottom front tooth pain, after the pulp vitality test, Dr.Mehta conclude that I needed a root canal. His assistant put the note of the tooth in question and its number in the computer. Also, the doctor himself pointed to the tooth. Therefore, I was very well aware of exactly which tooth I had a problem with. They charged me $258 for the test and scheduled an appointment for the following week to proceed with the root canal on the tooth in question. In January, on the day of the procedure, they injected me with the numbing medicine, so I couldn't distinguish the healthy tooth from the sick. After work was done, while I was paying in the lobby, I realized, by touching the tooth with my tongue, that they had actually performed the procedure on my healthy tooth, which is the next from the one that was in pain. I mentioned this to the doctor right away. Instead of apologizing for such a huge mistake, without any guilt, his response was: "even if the assistant made a mistake and put the wrong tooth number in the system at the day of pulp vitality test; I have crowns on both of the teeth, and sooner or later this tooth will need treatment". I left the office shocked and in pain. To make things worse, they charged me out of pocket $621.47 (the rest my insurance had to cover, according to them) for the mistaken treatment, and scheduled another appointment to treat the right tooth in a few days. As mother of two and severely in pain despite the bad lesson learned, I agreed to go for a second root canal (for the correct tooth). During this appointment they charged me upfront another $784, which include another $159 for the evaluation and ex-ray and finally they treated the right tooth, so they fixed their mistake at my cost. The billing department is another story. I had paid my deductible balance in full the day of my visit with my credit card and cash. About 18 months later I received a bill for the same service from the doctor's office for $1581.28. Apparently, my dental insurance had not paid them for my services in full because Dr. Mehta was no longer part of their network and his office wanted me to cover it all. Red flag. Another year goes by then they send me the bill again. I tried calling the actual dental office and tried to reason with them and asked for the fees to be waived as it was their mistake to begin with. After I refused to pay, instead of resolving the issue that was created twice by their office, they sent me to collection, and trying hard to ruin my credit history! I am still hopeful that Dr.Mehta would remedy my situation before I am obligated to take legal action against them. read more

This review is very well deserved. I flew all the way from Oregon just to see Dr. Mehta. I was terrified!!!!!! To say the least. I'm talking nightmares, sweaty palms, everything you could imagine. I had never had a root canal and had no clue what to expect. Dr. Mehta was confident and patient. If I had questions even if it was 10 o clock one evening and or 7am in the morning he would respond. I ended up having two root canals two days in a row but I'll tell you I feel great for doing it. No pain, not even feeling uncomfortable. This was my first time to his office for a root canal. Dr. Mehta was extremely professional and talked to me in depth about the procedure. My molar was greatly infected and he gave me anti-biotics (which worked that night) before he did the procedure. He actually called me before and after the oral surgery to see if I was okay and/or had any questions. The surgery only took 45 minutes and it was painless. Great doctor, great staff! I was referred to Dr. Mehta by my periodontist, Dr. Elyassian. I was experiencing throbbing pain in one of my teeth that was so severe that I couldn't sleep at night. My periodontist thought that it was the nerve inside my gums and suggested I go Dr. Mehta for further examination to determine if I needed a root canal. My visit with Dr. Mehta was excellent and thorough. He took X-rays and did an oral examination of the teeth in question. Within seconds he was able to tell me where the infection was and how he was going to treat it. My general dentist had given me a prescription for pain but it was doing nothing. He prescribed an antibiotic and another medication and can I say this: the pain went away over night!!! He scheduled me for my the root canal. What I appreciated even more is he informed me that I could get my dental prescription filled at Kaiser Permanente! Yes, I have Kaiser for years but did not know I could go there for dental prescriptions. He saved me a lot of money. Overall, I really have a lot of confidence in Dr. Mehta's as my endodontist and I'm looking forward to my upcoming root canal in 2 weeks. read more

Tooth pain is the worst experience in my life. I was referred by my Dentist to Dr. Mehta due to my gum infection. I thought he will only increased the dosage of my antibiotics, but he also recommended I have a huge infections and reccomended a root canal. The staff are really great, when I called the office, I left a message about my painful tooth and swelling face and neck, they told me to come in right away... like now.! . I was very impressed with them. The antibiotics I got from Dr Mehta healed my swelling. He even emailed me the schedule when to take antibiotics and clearly stating what time to take it. After the root canal procedure, he texted me and followed up that night that I will be sore and take ibufropen per the given instructions. this is my second root canal this year, the first one is from a different endodontist and I was very happy with Dr Mehta. The women who work the front desk are AWFUL. The office seriously needs to rethink employing them, or retrain them and teach them customer service. This was my first root canal so I was not sure what to expect. My first impression was with the staff. I found them to be polite, accommodating and professional. The office was tastefully decorated and comfortable. When the procedure began, I was offered a wireless headset and a wide selection of music. The procedure was nearly painless. Dr. Mehta explained everything--the equipment and what I should expect. He constantly asked if I was OK throughout the procedure. I found him and his assistant to be very efficient. My comfort was clearly a priority. Dr. Mehta told me immediately after the anesthesia wore off, I would no longer be sensitive to cold, and explained the area would be tender for a few days. I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife, who had a consultation with Dr. Mehta 2 weeks ago in advance of her appointment. Today one of the office staff called to tell her of the charges for the appointment, which is tomorrow. My wife was surprised at how high the charges were, especially the amount that was the patient's responsibility. She asked if there was anything their office could do financially to help her out, especially since she wasn't expecting any charges after they said NOTHING to her at the time of the consultation, or at ANY TIME during the following 2 weeks leading up to the appointment. The office person (either Brooke or Kristen based on her last visit) said "ABSOLUTELY NOT". No politeness, sympathy or consolation whatsoever was conveyed by the staff worker. Only rudeness. So my wife, with this new information, wanted to consider her options with another Endodontist, and told the staff worker. To this the staff worker replied that she would have to charge a cancellation fee if they were not informed within the next 30 minutes! Yes, 30 minutes!! The office worker sited that they have a 24 hour cancellation policy that my wife was informed of at the time of the original consultation. Yet, they're informing my wife with less than 24 hours of her appointment that she is on the hook for charges she was unaware of???!!!! What?! I saw 1 other review for this office that was bad, and it had nothing to do with Dr. Mehta, who we were referred to by our dentist of over 20 years that we trust implicitly. This review also has nothing to do with Dr. Mehta, other than the fact that he employs staff that are rude and lazy (yes, lazy -my wife asked at the time of her consultation if one of them would call in her prescription from Dr. Mehta for her, and they REFUSED). My dentist Dr. Roger Uchizono only refers his patient's out to the best specialists, so I knew that Dr. Mehta would be good. But he is a great! His name should be in the dictionary next to "root canal" because he is a Master at endodonics. The office is relaxed and comfortable to reduce any stress the patient might feel about the root canal. And he offers a selection of music to listen to during the procedure which helps you to stay relaxed through the 45-minute procedure. Dr. Mehta is the coolest doctor I've ever been to. He just did a root canal for me today -something that I've dreaded the thought of all my life. It took about an hour and there was absolutely no pain. I thought that my tooth was going to have to be pulled but it looks like he was able to save it.
