He's like a mechanic where you don't want you car to be repaired again. I had a root canal done by him and returned back the following day with the the tooth that I had a root canal aching. He examined it and he told me that he will do a different procedure but I have to pay him again!!! If that's how this dentist will operate who's going to come to him or refer him to others. At first, when you contact Dr. Ida's office, his receptionist will ask you a few important questions, gather some initial information, explain the process for obtaining an appointment, and explain the fee upfront. You will be asked to register your pertinent information, health, and insurance online. This needs to be done within 24 hours of initial contact. This may seem off-putting at first, but it is clear evidence of the thoroughness and wise caution that Dr Ida's office must take for clarity, transparency, health, and safety. It is a preamble for what one can expect at every turn in his practice. Dr. Ida's office is spotless, timely, extremely well staffed, and up to date with the latest equipment. But most important: Dr Ida is genuine. Dr Ida is kind. Dr Ida is gentle. I have been a hygienist for 45 years, and I had heard how good Dr Ida was. That is why I chose to go to him when I needed a root canal myself. My husband had already told me all about his own great experiences at Dr Ida's, but I sure found out the whole truth on my own. His two dental assistants work with him in perfect synchrony. His front desk receptionist, Linda, is thorough and charming. His office sterilization practices and health precautions are top notch. My case was a very difficult case because my three roots had such tiny canals, they were the diameter of a hair. One of my roots made a 90 degree turn which is almost impossible to do without breaking off a tiny instrument inside the canal. His countenance is calming, his injections are painless, and his attention to detail and perfection is remarkable. I also really love his cutting edge CT scanner. Linda work hard to obtain my insurance details, ensure I was in-network and provided a detailed explanation of my insurance coverage and out of pocket costs. Dr. Ida's assistant was caring and compassionate all while executing every task with precision and confidence. As much as I wish a Root Canal on anyone, I would recommend no other Orthodontist than Dr. Ida and team. Their bedside manner is remarkable, especially for highly nervous patients. He takes the time to fully explain everything, and has an incredible attention to detail. Even though my general dentist recommended Dr. Ida just look at tooth #15 and #30, he was gracious enough to advise on other teeth as well. When you call and they check your insurance they make an appointment and you think it's all good. What they didn't state is that the Dr is out of network and then the same day ask you for $350 for consult and CT Scans. They should be upfront and tell you that before they make appointment and definately before you show up for the appointment. They expect the 350.00 payment the day of your visit. Also, if he's out of network then you will have extra charges for the root canal that would be covered by an in network dentist. Being new to this situation was very surprised by extra out of pocket costs and later found out when EOBs showed up showing him out of network. Pain was excessive after root canal and took two weeks to feel better. I followed Dr Ida instructions for pain meds but it was pretty unbearable with many sleepless nights. I read in another review that someone was sedated prior to their root canal. I was told they don't do that. Procedure is 1 1/2 hours. Would be nice to have headphones to drown out the noise of the procedure and to relax. There is wedge they put in your mouth and a cloth put in the mouth to cover all of the mouth except for the side of your mouth the Dr works on. This felt claustrophobic like was suffocating. I realize that is the procedure but felt like it was really a LOT to endure. I was glad he took his time instead of rushing through a procedure like this and it was a successful procedure. read more

Dr. Ida and his team are fantastic!!! I recently had work done here, and I was SO impressed by the level of care they provided. Dr. Ida was kind, gentle, thorough, and explained everything clearly. He regularly checked in with me throughout the procedure to ensure that I was comfortable. It was also clear that Dr. Ida keeps up with the latest research and advances in the field. (I'm still amazed that the injection process was completely pain-free due to the electronic syringe he used, and I wish EVERY dentist used it!) Dr. Ida and his dental assistants wear N95 masks, and they have air purifiers in each of the patient rooms. Additionally, they ask patients to do an oral rinse when they first arrive which reduces the viral load. I also really appreciated that Dr. Ida only works on one patient at a time and that they stagger the rooms that the treatments are done in. I was recommended to go to Dr. Ida by my dentist Dr. Dornan, My tooth was apparently had a root canal before and the dentist put a silver point in the root. I didn't even know this. Some of the roots were not done properly too. Dr. Ida explained that this method was not done here in the US. I could not remember who did my root canal before. Probably it was done years ago in the country I was from. Who knows? Anyway, it has to be redone since I need a new crown. Dr. Ida was gentle and informative. The way he did the local anesthetic was amazing. I felt a small pinch twice, one on my cheek and one on the roof of my mouth. That's it. The rest is the same as other root canal processes, a lot of pressure and drilling. The process took 1.5 hours. When I got out of the office I didn't feel pain. My husband said that he has never seen me looks so happy after a root canal. I had a few of those. Even a few hours later I didn't feel pain. I cannot thank him enough for removing the silver point and fix the previous root canal. I would rather keep my tooth than getting an implant. I have a few implants and the cleaning of them are not as easy as my real teeth. It isn't that I love root canal but if I need to have one I will go back to this office. read more

Dr. Rodney Ida is amazing!!! I'm shocked there are any negative reviews and have to question those patients sanity, as Dr. Ida is the only endodontists my family and I will go to. My father, mother, sister and I have all had root canals performed by Dr. Ida (we clearly have great family genetics) and we have all had wonderful experiences! I just had one done yesterday and have yet to be in any pain. I am a wimp when it comes to dental work and fear needles. Dr. Ida answered all of my questions and is a magician with applying the anesthetic. He was so gentle, I was never in pain or uncomfortable. Linda (front of office) & Sandy (his dental assistant) were so kind and helpful with scheduling my appointments, helping with insurance, performing my x-rays, and calming my anxious nerves. They followed up after my appointment to check-in as well. You will not find a more professional and kind staff. Pricing is absolutely competitive. Dr. Ida is very thorough as well as personable. He is thorough by means of explaining the procedure so that we could understand it. The fact that Dr. Ida answered my 84 year old mother's many many questions shows his patience. He is also very accommodating in that after our initial consult, he was able to see my mother the next day for her needed procedure. The office staff Linda, the front office receptionist was also very thorough as she explained what needed to be completed before we went for the consult. She emailed the necessary paper work and followed up with a phone call to me to see if I had questions. She explained what to expect monetary, so there were no surprises. Early in June I was experiencing some tooth pain on a molar. I was referred to Dr. Ida and had my initial consultation. Upon results of X-rays and testing the tooth it was determined the tooth would need a root canal. I could not recommend Dr. Ida and his team of professionals more.
