On 10/18/24 I traveled from San Diego, California to Los Angeles to get new subwoofers speakers, amp, and tweeters installed in my truck. I ordered the equipment through a friend that lived in LA so all I had to do was meet him there. The system is a Pioneer system. The next day I had the work done. I was willing to pay for quality work. I did not get that service at this facility on my first time visit.
After installation was completed I was admiring the sound that my vehicle was making with a new the set up. Of course it's my fault for not checking to see if everything was bolted down. On my way home the following day, which was a Sunday. I was cut off and had to make a sudden stop. I heard a lot of bumping in the back of my vehicle. I assume that it was some of the tools that I had under the seat storage. It turned out that those under the seat subwoofers slid and the amplifier that was behind the backseat was loose. Upon further inspection, I saw that everything that was supposed to be bolted down was simply laying in place, with the exception of the door speakers.
This was a $550 installation. Running cables is one thing but having a loose amplifier, subwoofers, controllers and cables, literally looking like a spaghetti factory underneath the dash was unacceptable. I took my truck to another installation spot here in San Diego, "shout out to Progressive" and they cleaned and buttoned up everything. Going forward for my other car I will just keep everything here in San Diego. If they would have followed up on that craftsmanship I would not have felt so disappointed about this. The comments would have been a five star. I brought all the materials with me and turned it over to them expecting them to install everything. I did not count on them not finishing the work.
I give this company three stars because the owner was actually pretty cool and he offered to correct the work. But I was already back in San Diego. He was working on another vehicle at the time mine was being worked on. Had he been able to look at what was going on in my truck, he probably would've asked him to finish the job. (He did the work on my buddy's truck.) I felt that I drove my truck home and it was not finished work. Because of what was not done in my truck, I cannot recommend this company for anybody else. The reason I chose them was because my buddy, who has the exact same truck, and that they did a wonderful job on his vehicle. It's just that they drop the ball and left too much undone. I live too far away to go way back to LA at my cost. It was cheaper in gas alone to get it done here rather than doing a 300 mile round trip to LA.
It was initially OK because the stereo sounded decent to the untrained ear. Once everything was bolted down and tuned correctly, the sound is simply amazing. Night and day difference. I see others have had a positive experience like my buddy. Mine in hindsight is luke warm.
Bottom line to customers: If you take your vehicle to this Stereo City, you need to ensure to check the work when your vehicle is completed while you are still there. Insure you get what you paid for especially if you're paying for installation. Most of all pay attention if you choose to wait in the store because if you get distracted by all the loud music you may miss something. $500 is too much money to pay for speakers and amps to simply be laid out to be damaged because of negligence.
Bottom line to business: The team effort on working on each vehicles is impressive. However, someone needs to do a final inspection with the customer prior to that vehicle leaving your place of business for sound as well as installation. Some of the work that was visible was quality. It was the hidden items that were either overlooked or simply neglected. read more
