To replace my old HVAC system, I hired Santa Air to put in a SEER 17 Trane XR17, at a cost of…read more$16,327 (including furnace). The AC part of the installation has now failed 3 times. On May 31, the system quit (blank thermostat). Santa Air does not work weekend, so we were without AC until a tech came on Monday. He said that there was a loose wire that he reconnected and now it worked. On June 18th, same failure. Again, no tech on the weekend so wait until Monday. Tech stated that it was a furnace switch somehow affecting the AC unit, and replaced it. Then Aug 13th, same thing, black thermostat, no power. Luckily this was a Thursday, and the tech came on Friday. He tells me that there was a leveling problem with the drainpipe and the water backed up and hit a kill switch. He admitted this was probably the cause all along, and they had misdiagnosed. At this point, I asked to speak to the owner so that I could complain about 3 breakdowns in three months in the summer. Maggie is the person who answers phones and directs techs. When I asked to speak to the owner, she wouldn't tell me who it was or let me speak to him or her (if you go to the Secretary of State website, you'll find multiple filings. So either John Tran, or Duy Pham, or My Nguyen own it). Alas, at this point my only recourse is to leave a review for others to see what has been happening. I hope the tech is correct this time, but I have no reason to have confidence in that opinion. Clearly, if it breaks again, all I can do is report the company to the NC Board of Plumbing and Heating and to the NC AG for Consumer Protection.

The panel has been in the sun since the house was built. Terrible customer service and it seems like they aren't sure what they are doing. I wouldn't recommend. This is a long review based on almost two years of experience with Rardon Home Performance. The…read moreshort version -- call Stephen. You won't regret it. I first contacted Stephen in 2017 when my 15 year old heat pump stopped heating in zero degree weather. My auxiliary electric heat worked, but used a lot of energy, and would have more than doubled my energy bill if I couldn't get the heat pump working again. It hadn't been serviced for almost 8 years, so I was prepared for on expensive repair or replacement. At the time, my wife and I were still trying to decide whether to stay in this house, or buy a new home, so I wasn't ready to spend thousands of dollars to replace the heat pump. I called several other pros before I found Stephen, but they recommended replacing my heat pump before they had even looked at it, and weren't available for almost a week. Stephen came out quickly, inspected it, found several issues including two dangerous wiring problems from the original installation, and when he was done it worked very well. He reassured me that I could get several more years out of the unit. I signed up for his very reasonable annual maintenance plan and he came out again in late Spring to test the cooling. He got that working well too, and the heat pump was still running fine when we sold the house in November. When we moved into a newer home with two AC systems, Stephen inspected them for me, including the ducts, intakes, and registers. He noticed that the ducts feeding our bedroom and bath may not be sized correctly, and discussed possible solutions. He was right -- those rooms were often colder this winter than the rest of the house. When the weather warmed up, our AC cooled well for a week, then stopped cooling. I called Stephen the next morning and he was at my door half an our later, diagnosed the problem in a few minutes, and replaced a failed part. He may not always be able to respond this quickly, but I have complete confidence in Stephen and Rardon Home Performance to keep my AC running efficiently and fix it promptly when it fails, at a reasonable cost.
