I can not say enough great things about this company! The technicians are amazing, always prompt and so professional but I also want to acknowledge the office staff. So many times the reputation of a company is only as good as the person that you are speaking with. The office staff/schedulers are so customer oriented, which is not always the case in today's world. Modern Mechanical came to house within three days of calling for service. Their technician fixed problem within 15 minutes. Cost was $80 for service call. I called Modern Mechanical for a second opinion. The first HVAC company from Clayton said I needed new coils for my condenser unit at a cost of $1,500. The unit was still under manufacturer's warranty. I passed and said no thank you. Their service call cost me $125. Modern Mechanical fixed the problem. It was a wire incorrectly wired at the thermostat. read more

With these folks tou really get great service. I have used them several times and they are always professional and best thing is they show up when they say they will. They do a great job and fix the issues. Some people think they can fix a 30 year old machine and have it run like new. They're good, but not miracle workers. Unprofessional company. I had an appointment to have my heating unit fixed on a Friday morning. I was not going to be home, so I agreed to leave a key under the mat. I received a call stating that a service technician was on their way Friday morning. I then received no other communication from the company again. I got home Friday evening and there was no work order, note, or any other indication that anything had been done. I had no idea if my heater had actually been fixed or not. I called their office but it was after business hours, so I left a message on their emergency number. Never received any callback. I called their office again Monday morning and finally was able to get confirmation that the heater had been fixed. I'm not sure why I, the customer, have to figure out for myself whether the work had been done. Completely ridiculous. *In response to owners post: I was in contact with my property manager throughout the weekend. She also made attempts on my behalf to figure out if the work had been done. Her contact at your company had no clue. I don't need an invoice to tell me that the work was done -- a phone call or note would have sufficed. Also, when a technician was out initially to diagnose the issue, he left a work order/summary of what needed to be fixed with me, so you can see my confusion. It sounds like you may be insinuating that I did not in fact leave a voicemail at your emergency number. I did leave a voicemail on Friday evening, per my property managers advice. It's convenient that you can't find it. read more

I was recently selling my home in Raleigh and the Home Inspection found that the downstairs delta temp was off by a couple of degrees. No problem, I have a home warranty so they sent out WoodCrest Mech Services. The diagnosis was that I needed an ENTIRE new HVAC. The warranty co will cover the cost of the HVAC however, my 'out of pocket' expenses were going to be 2500.00. I found this out five days before the closing date so it looked the the sale would not go through. I wasn't putting another 2500.00 into this house!! I recalled that I had previously used Modern Mech for warranty work in the past so I called them to see if they could help. I had not communicated with Modern Mech in about 2 years but they REMEMBERED ME and immediately recalled all the work that had been previously done and questioned the need for a new HVAC. The person I spoke with, Diane, said she would do whatever she could to help me and definitely delivered. With one service call the very next day and a pound of free-on, my Delta T was within the set limits and I was good to go. The house closed and the total cost was 175.00 to Modern Mech. What a relief! Here is what I know, sometimes demand for services is high and you may have to wait (say during hot spells and cold spells). Sometimes this stuff gets expensive to fix - it is, what it is... but it is GOOD to know that you can TRUST a business not to try to rip you off - and Modern Mech is just that business! When they didn't come at the appointed time, they denied ever having made an appointment or even speaking with me, despite my offering to show them screenshots of my phone's call log and the two calls we had. One of our two heaters spit up last fall. We called around and the Modern Mechanical folks sounded the most reasonable and were able to get to us quickly. The guy showed up and got us up and running in about an hour. We were quite pleased as you might imagine. Pleased enough that we signed up for a service contract to keep the system running well over the next year. That's plenty good enough but it gets better... Our 2 AC's hadn't worked for a couple years. Both systems leaked refrigerant like a seive (empty in a day!). We had other companies out to refill and they were quoting $500-ish per unit just to diagnose the problem so we muddled through with several window units until we could scrape up the cash to replace both systems (which is what we were told needed to happen). We mentioned this to our service guy Paul H and he offered to see what he could do. The upshot of the story is that after their very reasonable diagnosis, we got new lines and other parts installed for much less than half of what one of the two new systems would have cost. The cool air in the house is nothing short of glorious. We could NOT be more pleased!! A special mention of our guy Paul H is in order. He went out of his way to check things thoroughly and inform us of what was happening, why it was happening and what options there are (were) to fix it. He's competent, professional and personable. He's been here enough over the last few months that we consider him a family friend. Same goes for the ladies in the office who always call to remind me of appointments or to let me know Paul is on his way. Working with Modern Mechanical has been a great thing for my family. Sign up for their service contract and you won't be whining on Yelp about how you had to wait for the HVAC guy in the middle of the summer - it would already have been made right. I purchased a home built in 2005 and discovered that the AC was not cooling upstairs. The Realtor (seller's agent) at Fonville Morrisey in Raleigh stated that the home came with a Warranty by HSA. My fear was that HSA would send some hack out to just dump freon in the system and call it a day. I hired my own licensed contractor and he came out and determined that the evaporator coil was leaking. Back and forth with HSA - LONG, unacceptable hold times and they send out Modern Mechnical out of Garner, NC. Sure enough the clown put freon in the system and two days later it was gone (imagine that?) He tried something else and it too failed. I was getting nowhere with HSA other than the run-around. I finally had to get our local ABC problem solver to address the issue. Funny how HSA fixed it after the media got engaged and threatened to just have it fixed and file a claim in small claims court - (which I seriously would have done) Come to find out that is is widely known that no credible HVAC company will subcontract for HSA. Good companies partner with good companies and don't take shortcuts and do the right thing the first time. read more

Modern Mechanical is a very ethical company, and I have come to trust them with my HVAC needs. We originally contacted them after the "big guys" told us that we needed to replace our HVAC system about 6 or 7 years ago, we were also told that we had a refrigerant leak. We wanted a second opinion and called Modern Mechanical to come out and look over our system. They said that there was noting wrong with our system at that point and there was no leak. From that point forward we hired MM to do our twice a year service maintenance. when we were told this year that we would need to replace our system, we knew that we could trust MM and contacted them to get t quote on the replacement. We knew that we could trust both the service tech and the estimator with what they were telling us. When it came time to do the replacement, they sent out 2 techs that were both very professional and we hardly knew that they were even at the house and working on the new system.
