After living here in Beaverton for 8 years we have never been to this icecream shop. Newly…read moreremodeled after a car crashed through the window last year and all the news stories we wanted to support them and give it a try. They make fresh waffle cones and bowls!! The shop smells heavenly when you walk in and that enticed the 3 of us to each order a waffle bowl for our yummy ice-cream. I was excited to see they have so many great flavors and they carry my favorite peanut butter and chocolate. My son ordered Huckleberry heaven and hubby had the cherry Bordeaux. The gentleman behind the counter was not super friendly or welcoming. Maybe he was annoyed because we all ordered waffle bowls that he was making anyway.

It was heartbreaking to see them closed for nearly a year following the crash that kept their doors shut, but the shop looks great and the community is lucky to have them back. The menu is packed with choices, and there are so many ice cream flavors to choose from. I went with the Bordeaux Cherry in a fresh, house-made waffle bowl, and it was a delectable treat. The staff behind the counter were not only friendly but also very funny, which made the experience even better. There is plenty of seating both inside and out for enjoying your dessert. It is such a welcoming environment, and we are so happy to see this Hillsboro staple back in action!

You can go through this place as fast or as slow as you want to. We might've spent around 2 hours but that was including time in the gift shop and carefully reading each sign closely and watching what happens during each process. We got to try samples of 4 kinds of cheeses, smoked black pepper, white cheddar, and medium cheddar, and one more I forget the name of. We also tried some ice cream. It's a cute little stand that you stand in line and grab and go. The gift shop has a ton of items for everyone, even various packs of cheese and cute stuffed cheese blocks. The cafe had your average grilled cheese/burgers, but we didn't end up eating there. The line was super long and the food didn't look worth it to me for the price point. We did end up getting a sampler of ice cream though, 3 flavors being strawberry, Marion berry, and cookies and cream, which were all really good. They were rich in flavor and creamy. Straight from the factory which was pretty cool.

Get the VIP tour its worth it, hands down! You try some amazing flavors, they send you home with tons of goodies and the staff members were PHENOMINAL! Im looking at you Duncan and Emi!! Duncan and his assistant made the whole VIP aspect of the tour amazing! Duncan sang Happy Birthday to another member of the group but sang it in Hawaiian, his native tongue! It was just such a blast! When you go inside for the self guided cheese tour, they give lots of cheese samples!! So yummy! They also have a huge gift shop! It was so much fun to shop in. They also have LOTS of food options in the dining areas! This place was so much fun!

So, I won't lie, I had REALLY high expectations when I chose this out of all the other options for "dinner". I. Am. Blown. Away. The waitress was patient and answered all my questions. The place is small but clean. They run out of their seasonal, so be aware. My husband paid while I went to the bathroom and he kinda made a comment about 25 bucks for two ice creams, which surprised me as well. Until she gave us the ice cream. My Mt St Helens was three largish scoops with a delightfully large amount of toppings. His ice cream cone came in one of the largest cones I've ever seen. It's thicker and crispier than commercial so I think they make their cones in house! But the rockstar is the ice cream itself. I grew up in the area and so I'm very familiar with northwest flavors. This ice cream is like my childhood in a scoop. The ice cream has enough fats to give a nice mouth feel and I'm not even sure they use Guar gum or carrageenan. The honey tastes local. Even the raspberry syrup tastes like raspberries off the side of a country road that are ripe but not too ripe. That sweet sour taste. If you are traveling through or a guest of this town, you have to try the ice cream.

I finally made the trip after seeing someone post about the cherry cheesecake ice cream (seasonal flavor) a while back. Amazing!!!! I'm hoping they will have it again in their rotation. Today I had the cherry almond and the hubby had blueberry. You can sample the flavors before you commit to a flavor. I sampled the cold brew which is also tasty but I wanted fruity. They sell pints to take home which works out when you can't decide on what to get. Just take the flavor home with you. Employees are great! Cute shop! This past summer, i cannot recall the number of times we had stopped by this Cuppa Yo location. It…read moreseems to be a local favorite and I can see why. I'd say mainly because there isn't much going on in North Plains. But here's a little bit about Cuppa Yo: = Location / Parking = It's only about a quarter mile away off the Glencoe exit, in the newer shops area of North Plains. Plenty of parking. Only be aware of the indoor daycare center next to it. Actually, that's perfect... Feed the kids froyo and drop them off all hyped up and crazy at daycare haha! = Tha FRO and YO Toppings = They have your typical vanilla, milk chocolate, strawberry shortcake, dole whip, and tart. But really love the fact that when I've been here they would rotate flavors with things like salted caramel, root beer, cake batter, coffee, and a good mix of fruity sorbet types from berries to tropical POGs. And I'm pretty sure I've seen some gelato flavors too. I mean for me, it's like a new visit every time! As for toppings, they've got plenty! From cereals to waffle bits. Boba, cheesecake, crushed candy bars, peanut butter chips, fresh chopped fruits, to mochi, to nuts, and a nice variety of sauces! You name it, it's likely there! Pricing is by the ounce, so typically with a large and small cup, I know we've spent between $15 to $20 total (with tip). Really not too bad, in my opinion. Plus i like utilizing the Square point system. = Service = The kids running the place have been welcoming and receptive. Never have I seen them mad or bored or on their phone ignoring people. They keep the toppings area clean, and I've seen them wipe down tables and mop the flooring. Sorry, I'm just observant with these things. But trust me, I've been to some nasty Menchie locations, like the one off 185th, which is simply "bleh gross!" = TL;DR = Go back to the top and READ my review! This may be a franchise location, but I know I've ran into the owners who seem really nice. Plus they run this place well. Therefore, I'm in support of these guys 100%!!!

When we entered, we were immediately greeted by the lovely staff that told us that the first Wednesday of the month is "No Weigh Wednesday" where there is a flat rate for both the small ($6) and big cup ($9) as long as content of the cup stays under the rim. What a great deal! The space is bright and open and filled with accents of fun colors - very appealing for the little kiddos. They had about 10 choices for froyo flavors from your classic vanilla and chocolate to seasonal and fun ones like the spicy watermelon sorbet and I'm sure there are other flavors on rotation as well. There is a wall of dry toppings bar filled with candy, cereal, waffle cone pieces but my favorite is the "wet" toppings bar filled with fresh fruit and boba and my favorite topping of all - tiny little mochi bites! I also love that they had different colors of these too! Another surprise was the color changing spoons and the little whimsical touch of finding the toy yoda scavenger hunt when you are enjoying your yummy froyo in the shop. Treat yourself to some froyo next time you're in the area!
