I came here on a rainy day in early February. I am dirty from a house remodel, everything hurts, and I'm tired. So, I won't lie, I had REALLY high expectations when I chose this out of all the other options for "dinner". I. Am. Blown. Away. The waitress was patient and answered all my questions. The place is small but clean. They run out of their seasonal, so be aware. My husband paid while I went to the bathroom and he kinda made a comment about 25 bucks for two ice creams, which surprised me as well. Until she gave us the ice cream. My Mt St Helens was three largish scoops with a delightfully large amount of toppings. His ice cream cone came in one of the largest cones I've ever seen. It's thicker and crispier than commercial so I think they make their cones in house! But the rockstar is the ice cream itself. I grew up in the area and so I'm very familiar with northwest flavors. This ice cream is like my childhood in a scoop. The ice cream has enough fats to give a nice mouth feel and I'm not even sure they use Guar gum or carrageenan. The honey tastes local. Even the raspberry syrup tastes like raspberries off the side of a country road that are ripe but not too ripe. That sweet sour taste. If you are traveling through or a guest of this town, you have to try the ice cream. read more

The staff was super helpful in helping us pick the ideal flavors. I got a cone and it was loaded up! It was a single scoop and it was almost more than I could finish. Love supporting local spots and can't make me walk away from delicious ice cream hankerings, esp on a sunny/warm day! We dropped by on an ice cream whim mid-day on a weekday so not too crowded! I will say I appreciate the menu for always having a couple of non-dairy options for my plant based or lactose free friends. I can comment on the fruity and non-fruity items on the menu since my husband usually tends to get fruit flavors and I trend towards coffee/chocolate. The ice cream here is great whether you go for fruit or more milk/cream based though my one qualm is the price. It is rather steep for what you get though I will admit that is a commentary on today's economy and prices. Service was kind and we were able to grab a seat inside and enjoy our goods. I appreciated their little water station too so you can grab a glass on hotter days and not have to ask the staff/wait in line for it. I really love going here through the years. I've been to others but I personally love their ice cream best and they are consistent. Homemade ice cream and taste wonderful. Service is always great and the place is good for when you want to play games with family. Its family friendly here and its nice they provide some game boards. I don't know why it took me so long to find Ice Cream Renaissance. I lived downtown for awhile and went to the "waterfront" place, and then one on Columbia - which they have some strengths - but since I haven't been able to chew for a year due to a jaw surgery, the milkshake is one of the best things; plus I wanted to find out if this one would bring all the boys to the yard. I started going so often to get a milkshake that I had to get a line item in my monthly budget for it. I also found out today that they see me and are basically like - oh yeah the no lid no straw dude is here. I'm not 100% certain this is the compliment flex I want, but it does make ordering easy. The shop has plenty of seating and even some games you can play - so this isn't a terrible spot for a meet up. Restroom is available and they have decent hours to get you treats throughout the day. I've noted they have one sugar free option which is great, and maybe I should switch over from my go to Cookies and Cream. Get a taste before you buy, and I do love how they have some small scoop options so you can get a taste. An $11.50 milkshake feels steep, and then when I see what my spending pattern has done, I freak for half a second, but then I do realize its value. So. If you are in town or live in Vancouver, definitely come visit Ice Cream Renaissance - if you come often enough you might just get them to remember your order - and you never know, you may also get to enjoy your milkshake with all the boys in the yard. read more

What a great little local ice cream spot. They don't have a slew of flavors, maybe 10, but the quality for the ice cream can't be beat. The peanut butter ice cream was very smooth and the PB wasn't in your face overwhelming which was nice. They have a few tables inside for eating there but not a good spot for a large group to eat indoors at. read more

This place has great customer service and I enjoyed my visit there. They do offer samples so you can try before you buy. I tried the Spicy Pineapple and it just tasted like Pineapple. ICR is a Vancouver classic. My partner and I were married in 2003, and lived in an inexpensive apartment in the (at the time) sketchy downtown Vancouver. Main Street was just starting to gentrify, and we quickly made that a regular spot to visit. We probably put on 10lbs of ice cream in the first year or two of our marriage, lol. Fast-forward 22 years, we have two (just about grown) kids, and no longer live in Vancouver. But we were recently able to stop by. They are in a new location (across the street from the original), and have new owners. But the menu still has some classics (honey vanilla, now with mango replacing the pineapple, is a personal favorite). Renaissance ice cream is my go to spot for me and my dog to come get a nice cold treat. Came to downtown Vancouver today on Fourth of July but the sign said they are closed which made me sad. However, there's a new location at station in Camas that was open and what a treat that was to discover, same good old ice cream with awesome workers greeting you with a smile I was able to get my favorite animal cookie ice cream and Xena. I came here with my family while visiting Vancouver for dessert. This place was very busy, so I was expecting great ice cream! However, it turned out to be mostly subpar. I got two flavors; cookies and cream and nutella. Weirdly, the nutella tasted a bit like another nut (not hazelnut), which was slightly concerning since I am allergic to other nuts. I didn't have a reaction, so I guess it was fine, but it was not the flavor I was expecting from nutella. The cookies and cream was much better than the nutella, thankfully.
