This is such a convenient spot since it's so close to the Syosset train station. I didn't realize you could come in through the back entrance, so I walked all the way around. The cafe is pretty spacious and has lots of seating. I also loved the artwork on the wall made of espresso mugs. There's a good amount of desserts and pastries available, but I just ordered a cappuccino to go and I thought it was nice they asked if I wanted cocoa or cinnamon on top. Cute place. Nice and colorful little teacups glued to the wall as decor. Chocolate latte was good. The fried artichokes were terrible. There were barely any artichoke hearts in the dish. Tons of seating and a bright, clean location that would be great for some dessert and coffee catch up. A huge selection of italian goods that cover everything you could want - cheesecakes, cannolis, cookies, rainbow cookies, and so much more. I got a napoleon, ricotta cheesecake and a cannoli and they were good but not the best. They were average, still good, but just average. Everything was more on the whipped cream side and less on the cannoli cream/creamy cheesecake, which feels liek they're trying to save on the more expensive ingredients. I haven't found a stellar italian bakery just yet and was really hoping this would be the one. I'll still come back for the basics, but that's about it. Wouldn't be my go to, but still worth coming if you're in the area and looking for a snack. Prices are decent, super friendly staff. read more

After having read many reviews and comparing them to my own experience, I understand that many of those who have written are missing the business that was here before and craving some of that delicious bread that was famous. Based on the new business, Stellina did a good job of modernizing the inside and serves good, albeit more expensive food and a clean well lit establishment that has a friendly staff that provides good service. Pastries and cakes are excellent and looking through the glass cases may give rise to weight gain through osmosis. Simply picture perfect, you may pay a lot more for whatever it is you're bringing to a friends house, but for sure everyone will remember it and ask you to bring it again. read more

A tale of two bakeries. This recently became Biancolatte Bakery, supposedly in partnership with Stellina Bakery. I was there at Christmas and bought cannoli , a St. Honore pastry and an almond croissant ( all very good) and a pistachio pastry (so-so). The staff was very friendly and informative. I went back today and bought a hamentaschen apricot cookie, an almond croissant (both good) a cannoli (night and day from the one I had before), a heart shaped Linzer type cookie with a raspberry filling that was like leather and a type of cheese danish which was all bread and no cheese. The staff was completely different. I called to complain, particularly since it was so expensive and they could care less. I will not go back. p.s. I received a call the day after and almost did not pick it up as the caller ID said "Cardinali Bakery", but I did and the caller identified himself as Nick. He was very nice and apologized for the bad experience and offered to make up for it so I guess I will give it another chance and hope it was just an off day. At least they tried. read more

Stellina Bakery & Café is a teeny tiny version of the former inhabitant of this location, Cardinali. Stellina has kept the same baker on but now is only baking a fraction of the treats. Most of the shop is set up as a cafe where people are drinking coffee, cappuccino's, tea and they can even grab and go a pre-made sandwich. It is not 100% my idea of the best use of this spot but who knows maybe this cafe approach will work for them One week we went in and my mother love, love, loved a pastry with pignoli nuts on top. The next month we tried it again and she said it was not fresh and didn't eat it. Be that as it may... I will be in shortly to see if they are still making their own Panettone. If so, that baker back there can really rock it. But again I am not sure so will have to ask if it is homemade. read more

I came to Stellina Bakery & Cafe after my appointment. My daughter wanted doughnuts and I wanted something other than the typical popular Donut option. I searched and Stellina's popped up. The place itself is really pretty and light. The atmosphere is peaceful. There weren't a lot of people there so the noise level was minimal. For those who work on a laptop, it's easy to come here and get some work done while getting a quick bite to eat. I ordered their version of the glazed donut, a fruit tart, and their red velvet Donut. I was skeptical about ordering the red velvet Donut because it looked dry and the icing was too white to be a cheesecake frosting, but I wanted to give it a try hoping that it would taste better than it looked. Long story short, I was disappointed. The Donut was indeed dry and tasted nothing like red velvet. It lacked flavor. My daughter tasted it and said it taste like nothing. The best thing was the fruit tart. I enjoyed it. The glazed Donut was ok. My daughter took a few bites of it and was done with it. I ate some and put the rest in the box to try and finish it for later. I'm not sure if I'd come back, but I might for the tart. read more

I ordered a Coconut Birthday Cake with yellow cake as the base. The cake was packed in a way that I chose not to open the packaging and trusted it was ok. (Typically a bakery would show the cake before packing). I was given a white cake with buttercream frosting and no coconut. When I called after the fact, I was told that they do not make coconut cake and that their cake recipe is for white and yellow cake being the same. I ordered a Medium Hazelnut Latte and Nutella Bomboloni on the Stellina Bakery app for pickup. Although the order was ready by the pickup time, the latte wasn't filled up to the top. It seemed as if it was a small but put into a medium cup. I thought the Bomboloni looked like a Boston Cream from the bag but assumed the inside had Nutella. When I bit into it, it was a Boston Cream donut. The app didn't say that it was unavailable or a substitution may be made. The bakery is a cute space and I could see people grabbing coffee or a quick bite there. Based on my experience with the app, I would probably order in person from now on when I'm in the area. read more

If you're looking for the bread that Cardinali used to sell you will not get it here anymore They claim they are still baking ''on premises'' but the kitchen in the back looks closed. They did a great job renovating the place but the bread is not even close to what it used to be and there is usually not much inventory to choose from, plus it has gotten very pricey. Stop & Shop has better bread. It looks more like a hangout for high school kids than a authentic Italian bakery. Will not be back. read more

Fool me once shame on you, fool me 2x shame on me. I won't be back. Stopped in for lunch the first time in the very beginning of new ownership. I wasn't quite sure of the concept. The 'manager' who was sitting at a table playing on her phone eventually greeted us and sat us down. After several minutes I wave her down and asked for menus and water for the table. After several more minutes of neglect I approached the counter and asked if I could order. The girl at the counter took my order right there. We were eventually served our food which was good. During the meal I spilled my water (full glass) all over the floor. The employees walked over it several times before I finally said to the 'manager' that someone could possibly slip and fall on it to which she agreed and finally had someone clean it up. Then came time to pay the bill, no one to be found. I approach the manager again and ask for the check. She gives it to me after a long struggle handling the printer then explains to me in embarrassment that she usually doesn't handle such tasks. Now I hand her my CC and more struggling ensues. I'm now shaking my head in disbelief and ask if there's waitress service to which she replies no, it's like McDonald's here , you order at the counter and we bring you the food. I was a little relieved by her answer because I thought to myself the whole time how could the service be so bad?? Fast foward to today for lunch. Now I think I'm experienced and know the deal here and looking forward to a good meal. So we walk in and go directly to the front counter and ask for menus. The girl behind the counter says we don't have any and points to the board behind the counter which has some things but not all that are available I know this because I checked the online menu prior to entering the store. So now I start to ask if they have salads which are not listed on the board and she says yes, so I just asked for an easy Caesar salad and so does my friend .Then question about the pizzas which were listed with just nicknames but not the ingredients so she goes into the back because she has no knowledge of any of them and comes back and just says we have only the vegetable pizza. So now we just order a Panini to split. Now for the fun part. The girls brings out the panini first on a dish, no napkins ,no silverware, no sharing plates and walks away. I get up, walk to the count to ask for napkins and silverware, which she begrudgingly gives me. I return to the table and sink my teeth in to an ice cold Panini, yuck. A few minutes later, she brings one Caesar salad out and then several minutes later, the next one. We were still eating our cold Panini when she approaches the table with two dressings, and walks away.. We finish our meal which wasn't bad and walk up to the counter to order two coffees with milk. After a few minutes, the girl brings the coffee to our table black with no milk. now I again approached the counter and ask for milk and stir sticks. To bring this long boring story to an end. This entire experience was a disaster from beginning to end, I couldn't help but shake my head the entire time I was there. Hey Mr. Stellina, how about putting some management in place in you Syosset location. If not I'm afraid the end is near. By the way only one other table there during my entire visit . I can not even give this location a one star: First of all there is no menu to look at. You have to look at a board to see what they have and even then some items are not even available. The staff does not make eye contact with you. Four girls working not one was helpful. They bring you food with no utensils, or extra plates. Panini came out first (cold) with the salad to follow about 10 minutes later. Brought my salad to counter to have wrapped to take home and not one person wanted to lift their head to offer assistance. There is no management in place and it shows. if you are going to hire girls to work that really don't want to work then at least have a manager to oversee them and the place. Worst place I've ever been to in a very long time. A small coffee shop has better service. Awful! Prediction, will not last. read more

I was very disappointed in the new bakery, formerly Cardinali's. It's not a true traditional bakery. All the pastries and cookies... the few selections they have.. are prepackaged. Hardly a selection. If you're looking to bring a box of cookies or pastries to someone's house- this is not your place. Also disappointed that they don't have a selection of bread. They only a very FEW loaves. I'm not sure what angle this new Stellina's is trying to take but their "bakery" is not working. Very sad to see!! read more

I recently purchased two cakes from Stellina Bakery and Cafe. I walked in to the bakery to pick up my cakes and was greeted by the rudest worker I have ever witnessed. I walked in with a cheery "hello how are you? I'm here to pick up my cake" to which she never responded but just asked me for the name for the order. I told her my name then she asked me for the order. This was an order from another family member who I was just picking up for, so I asked her for a second while I looked thru my text messages for the order. Keep in mind that there was no other customer in the store at the time. It took me all of 1 minute to locate the exact order in my phone, at this time my brother who was with me noticed that she was rolling her eyes at me and saying something under her breath. Finally another worker at the bakery brought the cakes to me. I asked her for her name which she told me was Rosa. I asked for the receipt and I noticed the name on the receipt said Maria. I mentioned this to her and she told me that Maria and Rosa was the same name!? Not sure what this meant. Needless to say I was upset at the rude service we received and this would definitely prevent me from ever ordering from Stellina. Also I might add that the cakes were not even that great, that actually tasted stale. As we were walking out of the bakery, a Caucasian woman was walking in, this Maria/Rosa woman proceeded to greet her with a nice warm welcome but yet I received that nastiest customer service. read more

Much to my pleasant surprise, the renovation and rejuvenated bakery/cafe was the perfect place for my friends and I to gather for lunch and coffee/tea.The cafe was totally renovated and nice and clean and bright. One side offers savory sandwiches and bites that will please all appetites and on the other, there are the cakes, cookies, and pastries that Cardinalis is famous for (the baker and staff are still there). From chicken parm sandwich to egg whites and spinach on a croissant, the selections were perfect for our little gathering. I have been coming to this bakery for the last 20 years while it was Cardinali. We have ordered all of our cakes for events - birthdays, graduation, anniversaries. Last month I placed an order for my usual fresh chocolate mousse cake. I specifically said that I wanted it fresh, not out of the showcase where the cakes are displayed. It was my birthday. The cake is always so good, I was excited to get home. I blew out the candles and sliced myself a piece of cake. It was a cake from the showcase. How could I tell?, because it was dry. I paid more than $30 for a 7 inch cake that was so bad I threw it in the garbage, I called and spoke to a young woman who apparently didn't care. You should be ashamed of yourselves! read more
