Great service - squeezed us in without a reservation. The schnitzel was fantastic with the cheese spatzle!!

Visited Steinheil 16 in Munich as our first German meal for lunch. We were jetlagged, so we were a little out of it. When we arrived, we didn't have a reservation. So we sat with some guys who didn't mind sharing their table with us. For lunch, we requested two wienerschnitzel dishes, even though there were three of us. We saw how large the portions were, so we decided to share. A little while later, our waitress arrived with three wienerschnitzels, but we told here we only wanted two. We also requested some German beer, which was delicious. The wienerschnitzel was served breaded. The breading was crispy and tasty. The dishes were served with some salad that was't very good. We learned that if wienerschnitzel is served with sauce, it won't have breading. If it has breading, it won't have sauce. There is a German restaurant in Parma, Ohio that serves wienerschnitzel with breading and sauce. I guess it's not traditional. Anyway, the food and service were excellent!

We came here as walk-ins and were lucky to be able to sit at the outside tables after a 5 minute wait. Definitely get reservations as it is usually packed. We came here craving schnitzel and this place hit the spot. The schnitzel was enormous and had the right amount of crunch. It came with a fresh salad. I also got the pumpkin soup as it was cold out and I wanted to warm up. Overall, the waiters were super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was busy and lively. Highly recommended stop in Munich!

My new Italian friend's German friend recommended this restaurant for classic German food. We got some schnitzel here, I enjoyed it, and I had my quintessential German food experience. I had a Radler, and the schnitzel came with a salad. The food was really good, and there was so much food. Their menu was only in German.

Food is great, ambiance is ok, service is not so great. I am aware that the service in most European countries is not very fast and we're totally ok and prepared for that, after all we were on vacation anyway. But, we ordered beer (came FAST), my daughter ordered a coffee and it literally took FOREVER. The waitress came by at least 3-4 times and every time she came by, we reminded her of the coffee that we haven't been served. And every single time, she puts her hand on her forehead and went to inside that we thought this time she's going to get our coffee... nope! . Not sure what's going on finally we told another waitress and she offered lemonade instead . Long story short we were like whatever, sure. So... food great, order beers or lemonade, but no coffee lol

I had wanted to go here even before arriving in Munich ( based on location & reviews ) well , it certainly did not disappoint. I arrived late afternoon and the place was packed ! Full of a hip locals set . The host was very accommodating and gave me a high top at the bar ( I was a single afterall ) I ordered a Apperal Spritz & the quintessential pork schnitzel, unbelievable size portion of tender deliciousness. A really good choice on a museum tour day . Highly recommend!

I have been to Steinheil 16 three times in the past year and it has been consistently delicious each time. Although they have an extensive menu, I have only ever tried the Käsespätzle and Schnitzel because not only are they absolutely delicious, but they are extremely large portions for a great price. Definitely more than enough for two people to share. Also, the servers are very nice and speak perfect English. It's definitely a good idea to make a reservation if you plan to go for dinner, as there was a line outside the door when I initially went in December. Making a reservation was super easy since you can make them online through OpenTable.

Just look at this golden fried goodness. Wow.

This is ridiculously good wienerschnitzel. To be honest, I don't remember much of this visit, as it was after a full day at Oktoberfest. But my pictures told the story. The beer was flowing and the schnitzel was crispy. This is a Munich must!

Last night in Munich. Not a bad choice for food. Portions are downright generous here and the price is quite inexpensive. Order one plate for every two people or you'll have some serious trouble finishing. Also, a reservation helps. We snuck in early as a party of 4 before a table that was arriving at 7:30pm. What to get: spaetzle and schnitzel. The curry wurst was OK, but it tasted (for an American) just like a hot dog in a bed of ketchup with curry powder. Good, but kind of wished I was eating something more unique.

Add pita bread to the Euro you uncultured swine. And what kind of restaurant thinks sprite and lemonade are remotely the same thing.

We went to a side room that was just a bit quieter and without missing a beat... ordered a beer. Hard to make a choice with their comprehensive menu, but keeping with our tradition of eating lighter in the evening while traveling we went with: - Tomato and Mozzarella salad - A large piece of toasted bread - Veal Schnitzel with potatoes - Apple Strudel Without going through each item in detail I will say that everything was fantastic! Tomatoes and cheese were so fresh and tasty and the schnitzel was wonderful... Not enough good things to say about the amazing strudel..... Nothing like having apple strudel in Germany. Our waiter received us not with the civility one might reasonably expect when entering a restaurant, but with an air of such profound displeasure that one might have believed our mere arrival had constituted a personal affront. His manner was dismissive, inflexible, and consistently unpleasant, setting the tone for what would become an unnecessarily arduous meal. When we attempted to make a modest adjustment to our order, our request was met with remarkable rigidity. One might have accepted such inflexibility as the immutable law of the kitchen--had the very dish subsequently delivered to our table not been incorrect. Thus, flexibility was apparently impossible when requested by the guest, yet error remained entirely achievable by the establishment. And then came the waiting. The restaurant was by no means bustling with patrons. No great multitude filled the tables; no banquet of royal proportions appeared to be underway. Yet our food journeyed from kitchen to table with all the urgency of a medieval pilgrimage. Minutes stretched into what felt like seasons. Empires might have risen and fallen in the interval. But the crowning absurdity of the evening concerned a humble bottle of water. We ordered another water. It never arrived. Having already endured the considerable passage of time required for our meal, we eventually asked that the missing water simply be removed from the bill. We no longer wanted it. This, however, appeared to present an insurmountable philosophical dilemma. Our waiter insisted upon bringing it nonetheless. We paid. And only then--after the bill had been settled, the meal concluded, and any conceivable need for the water had evaporated--did the long-awaited vessel finally make its triumphant appearance. Behold: the water had come. Alas, it had arrived not merely late, but in another age entirely. Mistakes happen. Food can take longer than expected. An order can be misunderstood. None of these things alone would compel me to leave such a review. What made this experience so unpleasant was the attitude accompanying every interaction. A restaurant need not be perfect, but courtesy should not be considered an optional accompaniment. We entered seeking dinner. We departed having endured a minor Shakespearean tragedy--complete with conflict, suspense, errors, interminable waiting, and, in the final act, the dramatic arrival of a bottle of water no one wanted anymore. Would I return? Nay.
