And this goes beyond submitting direct claims to insurance companies without any owner or policyholder knowledge or consent. How the company is still in business and hasnt been shut down through civil lawsuits and insurance fraud is mind-boggling. He clearly communicated to me the scope of the work required, and how much it would roughly cost. The estimate he E-mailed to me, which included all the pictures he took, was very detailed, and the price was reasonable. Originally, Kolbie's project manager, Jamiel Ahmad, estimated that it would take 1-2 days to put on the new flat roof covering. However, on Day 1 (05/09/2025), his team started early in the morning, and got the roof done in just one day! Ironically, the roof was completed one week before the massive tornado that hit St. Louis City on 05/16/2025. Fortunately, the house, and all the homes on the block, avoided the brunt of the storm. There was no visible damage to the house. And from what I could tell from inside the house at the time, the roof held up just fine, in that there were no observed leaks from the ceilings. Because of the disaster recovery & cleanup efforts in the area, the remaining work to be done on the house - a resealing of the 2nd floor south landing - had to be delayed for a few weeks. Yesterday evening (06/17/2025), Jamiel informed me that he and his team completed the landing seal work - a total and pleasant surprise. (Kolbie had given me a rough estimate as to when they might make it back to the house.) Once again, they got the work done in just one day! Jamiel texted me pictures of the roof and landing. He also said that the new roof looks just as good as it did before the tornado, confirming my initial observations about its fitness from inside the house. In summary, I was VERY impressed by Eminent Roofing's promptness and professionalism. I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially homeowners with a flat roof, which is a prevalent roof style in St. Louis City. Incidentally, this house is my childhood home. Isaac, the business owner sat with me at my kitchen table, looked me in eye as we set my purchase order and contract, then cashed my check down payment check, and never attempted to complete any work on my project or communicate a project timeline. Below is my official complaint to the Better Business Bureau, which was filed on October 1, 2025 with no response from Mr. Ovchinikov. Mr. Ovchinikov has not responded to any of my many attempts to contact him by telephone, text, or email since August 2025. At this time, I can only conclude that he has stolen my money, and I am pursuing legal action. I will also be reporting him to the State of Missouri Attorney General's office. There are multiple open lawsuits against Shield Siding and Mr. Ovchinikov on casenet, and I believe that I have been defrauded by a professional swindler. Do not trust this business or this owner. Better Business Bureau official complaint, October 1, 2025: "I signed an individual contract with Shield Siding on March 28, 2025 to have my windows and back door replaced. Per the business owner, Isaac Ovchinikov, this work was anticipated to occur in June-July 2025. My purchase price was $32,832, and I paid a 70% down payment via check for $22,982 at time of signing. This check was cashed on March 31, 2025. My home owner's association (HOA) also signed a contract around the same time to replace the siding on the units in our buildings. This work was also anticipated to be completed in June-July 2025. As of October 1, 2025 (today) no work has started on the siding project, or my individual windows project. I recently learned from other HOA members who have contacted the window supplier directly (Enerlux Windows, a different company from Shield Siding), that no window purchase orders have been placed by Shield Siding for my project, despite this company having cashed my 70% down payment six months ago. I have attempted to contact Isaac Ovchinikov over 10 times in the last month by email, text, and phone call, all without response. My last communication with him was via text on August 13, 2025, when he reported that my project delays were due to his company getting behind in production on a different project. There was no mention of un-attempted supply purchasing for my order at this time. I am seeking a cancellation of my contract and refund of my 70% down payment, as there have been no goods or services provided, and no meaningful communication in the six months since I signed my contract about if or when I can expect to have this work completed."
