Stopped at Stein for some tastings. Cool spot. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good bourbon. All locally grown and made.

Started with a beer and a cocktail called the "French Pig" and ordered the Pig Wings and Onion Chips. The French Pig is a bit on the sweet side for our liking. The pig wings were braised then finished with a tasty sweet and peppery sauce. The order came with just two wings (three would have been better for $17) but, they were delicious. The onion chips were perfectly battered, crunchy, and tasty but not greasy. Service was great (although we were pretty much the only party there) and the décor was a tasteful pig motif. All in all it was a very pleasant experience, I would recommend a few more pork related items on the menu (pork rinds for example?). We will return.

We found the staff here very friendly. It's just your standard dive bar but there was no lotto at the time we were there, but they're trying to sell so it may be back eventually. We didn't care as we were more interested in poutine fries and cold beer. They have a couple couches here too so we decided to sit there. Glad we did because we were able to chat with locals who joined us (who also happened to know relatives of mine who grew up there). The food was good and I liked that it was a little different than what I usually see here in Portland. We decided to return another day for dinner because I needed to try the lobster mac n cheese melt. Yep, it was as good as it sounds! We sat at a table then and there were lots of locals at that time who were super friendly. This was a nice spot to get to chat with new people and enjoy just some solid food and drinks.

The selection of things that filled a glass are just as creative. The building and bar offer a wonderful and warm setting for plates of memorable dining. If you did not know it, you would guess you were in an elevated, sought after metro restaurant experience! This is a special place located on a fascinating small town Main Street - very cool buildings w plenty of character - way worth pulling off the highway for. We stayed in Baker (Boise resident) to enjoy Anthony Lakes skiing and try out this gem - we had heard about it from friends - what a treat. We tried several dishes and had to return the next day. The lasagna, fondue, sticky pork buns and an even better beet salad delivered way above expectation - all food and drinks had unique wonderful tastes and creativity! We will be back again on any drive that takes us by!!!

For Entrees we had the Elk Dutch Oven Lasagna and the Louisiana Gumbo. Again, both outstanding. The flavors spectacular.
