The Grout Doctor-Denver, Aurora, Castle Rock, Parker

If I could give negative stars to Dean and Denver Grout Doctors I certainly would. I had such a…read moregreat experience on two separate projects with the Grout Doctors franchisee in Tampa that I decided to call Grout Doctors here in Denver. Dean is the local franchisee, but his service is absolutely terrible. He came out, looked at the job, and assured me he could make the floor grout in my master shower "look just like the grout on the upper walls. He came out, did the work (mostly cleaning and sealing), and after it dried it only looked marginally better. I was quite dissatisfied, so I tried to get back in touch with him to get him to come out and properly fix it. That's where the "fun" began. 1. Dean does not answer texts, and in fact, says he doesn't text. I have no idea how anyone can stay in business if they don't communicate via phone, text, email, etc., but that's what he says. 2. He doesn't return phone calls. I left him 6 or 7 voicemails and he never returned my calls (probably because he knew he had done a terrible job and didn't want to make good on his promise to make the floor grout look good again). 3. Grout Doctors Corporate "Customer Service" (I use the term customer service VERY loosely!) isn't much better. I left several messages for them and finally heard back from someone named Juliana. She was much more concerned about distancing herself/corporate from the problem than she was with helping me, but she assured me I would hear from Dean soon. That of course didn't happen. 4. When I finally got in touch with Dean we scheduled an appointment and he stood me up - no phone call, no text, nothing. He just didn't show up. 5. When I finally got him touch with him he very reluctantly agreed to come out. But when he got to my house he had a terrible attitude and acted put out at having to come back and make good on work he had already been paid in full for. 6. He took one look at the floor grout and said that he never told me he could make it look like the wall grout. I told him my wife was present when he said that and that she would be happy to confirm that he said that, but he got nasty and left. Dean Shelton is a terrible businessman and won't do what he says he will do if you hire him. He took several hundred dollars from me and left me with essentially what I started with!

I was told that they were using epoxy grout so that should help stabilize the loose tiles. They were not cleanly, they left grout in the kitchen sink and our toilet, and left a big grout pile under the kitchen sink. And that evening after they had finished grouting, the grout was cracking and falling out. We had stayed off the grout as told. For the next week it only got worse. Dean came a week later to check it out and said he would give us a refund. It's been over a month and I have not received the refund and Dean is not responding to my calls or text messages.

Marble countertops are a B*TCH to maintain. Putting that out there for anyone who's either looking…read moreto buy a new home or renovate their kitchen. It looks so pretty, but damages easily. Since no one warned me about this, I had to learn the hard way -- water stains galore, mixed with a few stray indentations of lemon wedges were ALL over the countertops in our kitchen. It wasn't totally noticeable to the naked eye, but upon closer inspection, kind of an eyesore. Thankfully, Stone Restoration Works responds to Request a Quote on Yelp. They specialize in just the very thing needed: refinishing marble countertops. A sales representative came by and provided an estimate, and within 3 weeks, someone came over to buff out the imperfections + put a new coat of sealant on the counters as to avoid more damage. It took about 6 hours on a Saturday, well worth the time/effort. The project cost about $800 and our refinished marble surfaces are so shiny! Not sure how long that will last, however, it was much more affordable to do this vs. have new counters made. When that does happen (because you can only refinish so many times), I will be getting quartz or wood.

Just to get an initial estimate for a project, I've contacted you repeatedly via email and voicemail, which weirdly goes directly to your owner's personal phone, but never with a response. To which I've clearly outlined what it is we need done in terms of refinishing our kitchen and bathroom tile, but to no avail. I've given approximate measurement of said space, thinking maybe our project is too small for your company, asking that you please let us know either way. Again, nothing. I work in the customer service industry, which, granted, isn't technically what you are, and I am willing to give a long leash to companies for being too busy and not GETTING this part of the whole communication process...to a point. But at this point you just seem like you don't care about the money or are too lazy or anti-social to give a simple yes/no response. Either way, you didn't get our money and we ended up going with another option. And that option is what I hope more do which is learning how to DIY. YouTube is very helpful and I encourage those with the time and means to learn basic stone refinishing themselves. It's relatively easy, but time consuming, and I would have always rather paid more to have it done by one of their "professionals." But here we are... Anyway, gotta love a learning experience you would've actually paid for.
