These new locations are so shiny! Glad this classic diner found its way, in a fan of the juvenile atmosphere and easy going music. I remember midnight runs with friends, sticky floors, weird late night customers dropping in, the staff confused why college kids were getting royal and jalapeno crunch burgers in the wee morning hours, and sadly the late hours are gone! But I'm real excited for the evolution including beef Tallow replacing the awful seed oils. This was my first time trying the new fries. Extremely crispy and fresh, the manager and staff very friendly, noticed this well thought out location has it all going for it. Food came out fast and was great, one of the bests I've been to in a long time. Restaurant was super clean as well!

This is our youngest son's favorite place to eat, so much so that he choose it as his first job. I order one of the regular burgers, and it is plenty, one member of our family likes the 7 mile high burger, seven patties. I'm always amazed he can eat the whole thing! I miss the variety they used to have even a year ago, it makes me sad to see it change. Yet, some things are coming back again, it's good to see. Their milkshakes are my favorite in town, in any town, especially the peanut butter, chocolate, and the blackberry chocolate, though I must request them special now, as they're no longer on the menu. Very reliable staff, few changes, so we know the manager, Tyler, must be treating them well down there. That is an important feature, one of our favorite ways to choose a business. read more

Went to the Steak and Shake in Watseka Il. Used to love their shakes. So, I go through the drive through-and order two shakes for myself and mother. Waited in line for about fifteen minutes to see the car in front of me receive four shakes through their car window. When I made it to the window, I hand the guy my card and paid. The guy hands me two mini shakes in three or four oz. cups [like kid meal cups], no whipped cream. I never ordered child sized shakes. I think they had that amount left over from the order before mine and did not want to make any more. I will not go back. read more

I've always loved Steak 'n Shake since our treat as kids after music lesson to being concerned when they came to town that I would eat there too much. Always great service, but sadly the two things I always loved about their double burger were the thin sliced onions and terrific long sliced dill pickles. Both of those favorites are gone now. The last time I bought (and probably will ever buy) one the pickles were regular short sliced but chewed like rubber and the onions were the typical diced sit out of the mongo processed food jar they came in. Felt like a Mcdonald's burger. Ruined the whole burger for me. I have to make an old fashioned copy cat one at home now. Sorry S'nS, you lost me. read more

Our order was quite large and all sandwiches were flat on the bottom of the whole order, coleslaw was left out and we live 12 miles from watseka. Not very pleased at all about this visit. read more

While we were there a large group walked in at 8:45pm( they close at 9:00)they were treated horribly by the host. The manager was out side smoking. I have worked in fast food and was always told if a customer comes in 1 minute before closing you serve them just as you would any customer. This guy was loud, rude and obnoxious. Should have been fired on the spot for treating this group the way he did. How convenient for him that the manager was outside smoking! Too bad we can't give negative stars!! Today was the first time I tried breakfast from here. I went through the drive thru. The orange juice tasted watery and when I told the drive thru server she replied "I'm sorry" in a but I am not going to do anything about it voice. Hash browns were undercooked and greasy. Food is bad! Service is worse! Health Dept closed them for a weekend because they have some issues with keeping things clean.

I had the Prime Steak Burger which was very good fat and messy. Service was great. Isabelle our server was spot on with everything she did.

Waited 40 mins inside for food while about 20+ cars got their food through the drive through during that time. 3 different tables next to us left before they got their food. You may want to decide if you want this kind of experience before entering. read more

I enjoy going to this Steak 'n Shake at least once a week. I do not know what all these other cry-babies are complaining about with bad service. I have always been treated exceptionally well at this place. I feel a lot of the younger generation think that they must be treated "special" at every moment, and if their experience is not up to some unrealistic, pie-in-the-sky expectation they come here to bash a perfectly good restaurant. You didn't get your food instantly? Cooking takes time. Waiter didn't pay you enough attention? They have other people to serve. I guess what I am trying to say is this: it is a Steak 'n Shake. You are paying 6 bucks for a burger and a shake, and you will get a burger and shake. The inside is clean (enough, usually), and there are people to serve you. If you want food at decent enough price, you can choose to eat here. read more

Order a burger cause if you don't you get put to the end of the line, a very disappointing experence at one of my favorite chains. waited "forever" for our chilimac meals as those with burgers were served in a very timely maner. did speak to mgr to let him know. read more

The food is too greasy! The food is not that great but the shakes are good. For a quick bite it's not bad

My son has severe nut allergies. He wanted a shake. I informed the waitress about his allergies and asked if the person making the shakes could be told as to take extra precautions... Ie: not using the same mixer for his that was used on nuts. Most places have no problem with this. When the shakes came, I wanted to double check and asked the waitress to ask if he was aware. When she asked him, he got irritated that I even asked. And rudly told the waitress.. . yes, it's fine. read more

My husband and I are regular customers at Steak'nShake in Watseka and we have had almost no problems there. The one visit they were 3 people short (a cook and two waitress called in sick on same shift) so service was slow, but that can happen anywhere. We have never had any complaints with the food or cleanliness of the store. There are 2 or 3 servers there we really like, but all servers have been friendly and efficient. read more

I have only eaten there once. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant yet it took over 30 minutes to get our breakfast (just 2 of us). There was supposed to be sausage on my order. I don't know what kind of meat it was but it tasted rancid and nothing like sausage. They hardly put any gravy on the sausage and the hash browns tasted like the Teflon pan they were cooked in. Steak n Shake food is great; however, this location gives the brand a bad name. 3 out of the last 4 orders have been incorrect; drive-thru is horrendously slow; and the one meal I've eaten inside was a pitiful experience. I took 6 out-of-town guests and all of them complained about the cold food and lack of service. They said, "if this was in my town, I'd never return." I only live 1/2 mile away, yet half the time I must reheat the food. I've made complaints and really don't want to waste my time filling out complaint forms, talking to the manager, or getting free food. Obviously after being open several months with everyone in town complaining about the place, the manager does not care or cannot make the needed changes to bring this place up to par.
