We have ate here several times just me and Jodi M Marrs and we have ate here as a family with all six of our kids which are well behaved and quiet if you know us you know are kids are well behaved. In addition anywhere we eat I always clean the table once we are done with diner before we leave due to being such a big family servers don't get paid enough that's why I do this anywhere we eat and if you know us you know we always clean our table and in addition we still leave a tip. The problem with Shorty's: Is there service sucks, there rude, don't want to refill your drinks, and They throw attitudes when you ask for condiments like barbecue sauce, tartar sauce and so on. My daughter thats 12 years old asked for a refill and the cook was rude almost pushed her and said he didn't have time and the bartender/waitress was very rude to me when I asked her for a refill, she go's I guess and throw the recipe at me. Not a friendlyplace at all! I usually look past there attitudes but I'm sick of being a paying customer that gets treated like dirt in front of our kids and our kids getting treated like dirt. We go above and beyond cleaning our table and we spend lot of money there when we eat there. There food and prices are fantastic but not worth the way you get treated... Wont be going back there till they change there attitudes, there's plenty of other restaurants to choose from to eat at!!!

But if you want to take a break, grab a beer and get some good homemade bar grill food, turn off the main drag (in this case, Highway 1) and go a block or two into the business district of Milford, where there is an awesome little bar with an upfront grill (the cleanest I've ever seen) dishing up homemade soup, awesome burgers and pub food, great deep fry, and some kind of daily special -- including a home made desert (we had awesome pumpkin bars but they usually have pie). On weekends they have crazy cheap steak, fish fry, and prime rib specials. You have to put up with the country music channel on the tv...(but on the flip side they have free wifi, so don't bitch). All in all it's clean, cheap, good, and friendly -- so why waste your change on fast food when you can get food fast, homemade good, and with a water back? It's the most pit-stop worthy place on a long empty haul where the only other attraction is an old corn silo with a tree growing inside it -- we call it the "Hannibal Lecter tree" and a big funny billboard for the "Hoopston corn jerkers." We ended up taking a random exit out of I-57, and by chance chose the lovely, 600-person town of Buckley, IL, and happened upon this lovely bar. Walking in, this bar immediately screamed "1 star." It smelled putrid of cigarettes. Lighting was stale. There was no drink menu! But there were little golden sparkles: 1- free, solid pool table (which we used) 2- a barber shop in the back (???? what? but the barber was this sweet old man) 3- a nice little table with a new deck of cards 4- a soft-spoken, friendly bartender. 6- a row of fully running, new-looking video casinos. We left ultimately because of the clientele. One of the old, drunk men (looked like a group of regulars) asked my guy friend: "Are you trying to get into her pants? I bet you can't, they're so tight." I wouldn't say I'd ever go back, but this place does have its redeeming points.
