One of the things you need to take into consideration when going to Steak 'n Shake is that they cook your food to order, so you shouldn't consider this place a true fast food establishment. I've never eaten inside before, so I can't attest to the wait staff, but every time I've gone through the drive-thru the folks working there have always been friendly and polite. I have noticed that even when I've visited other Steak 'n Shakes, and because this is considered more of a restaurant with a drive-thru, the people working there always seemed to be older (instead of predominantly high school students like at the fast food chains), which I like because they tend to be more detail oriented which equates to getting what you ordered correctly. All in all, you can't go wrong here. The food is always pretty good, but just remember that you will have to wait a little longer to get it. The Absolute worst Steak 'N Shake i've been too. And this is just 1of many incidents at this establishment. Waited 20 mins in line AFTER paying when they said food should be ready soon ( mind you it was one burger and fries) for them to serve 3 other vehicles behind me, and if you've been to this restaurant you know while waiting for the orders they ask to stop at the stop sign in the front of the restaurant, which allows you to see inside the drive thru window.. That being, i watched a bag sit on the counter most of the time while i was patiently waiting for my order to be ready. After the customers behind me were served i came back to the drive thru window asked the gentleman that was working "Do you know how much longer it'll be on my food i've been waiting around 20 minutes now." Then proceeds to look for the bag sitting a hand length away from him and tries to hand me the order. I do not reach out for it, because its probably cold, as anyone would assume..? I ask for the burger to be remade, the gentleman goes to get it remade i assume, While he is doing that the manger comes to the Drive thru window and asks "May i ask what was wrong with the order." I respond with "I've been waiting around 20 minutes now watching my order just sit on the counter." I don't realy care for the fries--they are skinny and tend to overcook and become too crispy. I prefer Wendy's natural fries. But the steakburgers and shakes are very good. I went through the drive thru and there was MANY things that made me never want to come back. When I got to the speaker, the lady said "Go ahead and order." So I'm ordering and she cuts me off saying "Wait a minute" and she was gone for a while then came back and asked me to basically repeat my entire order. When I got to the window, they gave me my drink and told me to pull forward behind someone else who was waiting. So, even though literally NO ONE was in line, I pulled up.
