My boyfriend & I recently went there for some take out. It took them about 10 minutes to get our food but took them 30 extra minutes just to hand me my milk shake. As we were waiting we witnessed a couple get upset with the manager because they had been there for an hour an a half which they had been served their milkshakes but never their food. Also witnessed many families & couple come in, be seated, then they waited... & waited... & WAITED for a server to come by. Many just got up and left. Very disappointing. Ooookay. It gets two stars because I'll return for the late night convenience and I do like the menu. Love the perfect golden crispy fries!! Also I adore their honey mustard. However, tonight, they must be using old cooking grease for too long or something? because the fries and chicken tenders were both a weird dark color and tasted nasty. The single server is overworked and harassed, as many have noted before of this location. The thing I hate the most is that it is DISGUSTING. The floors are visibly dirty and gross 100% of the time and the bathroom gives me the creeps. Do they ever mop? Maybe once a month? Just yuck. I've never been a fan of Steak 'n Shake. The times I've been have been simply to appease the family hierarchy. I hate there thin - seem to always be cold - french fries. Back on topic. I went with family tonight, and still nothing wow-ed me, causing me to rethink my review. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Guacamole sandwich. Instead of their cold, hard fries, I got a side salad. The sandwich: Blah. Couldn't taste anything other than the guacamole and the slight kick to the pepper-jack cheese. The side salad comes with shredded red cabbage and carrot on top. There was close to 12 pieces of chopped lettuce, all contained in a plate the size of my palm. AKA, hardly considered a "side," it was so small. Service is very slow. Tuesday service is the worst due the the Theatre being so crowded on $5 movie night. Food is not always hot. Portions seem to be very small considering the price. A kids sized portion of fries with a regular meal is a tad ridiculous. read more

Steak burger hhhmmmm I don't know how true that is but they are decent. The burgers are definitely a higher quality then faster food chains but still lacking in flavor and size. Welcome to the world where your patty is smashed down really thin and gets crispy on the edges. The toppings are thicker then the burger smh. Then there's the shakes that are either too thick or too watery. They have a rainbow boat load of flavors to choose from. Trust me too many to decide sometimes but none early stand out. Just pick one and drink. Honestly you cone for the price and the satisfaction that maybe the burgers are 100 beef. And also to make the silly 1950s hat and card board kids car. I'm a fan of Steak 'n' Shake. Never really had a bad meal, did have one bad experience but I know the reasons for that. It was a Friday....insanely busy and somehow our order got lost in the shuffle. It happens. I really like their hamburgers and fries are the best. You can get different seasonings on your fries. I like the parmesan and herb, but you can get vinegar and salt or sea salt and cracked black pepper. They have a great $4 menu, so you can really get out of there on the cheap. I also got the Caramel Apple shake and while it didn't look exactly like in the picture (but then again, what does?) it tasted just like a creamy caramel apple. read more

Currently been here for 40 minutes and have yet to receive even my salad. The table across from me is shouting about how the next food up in the window should be theirs and they are yet to receive the order that was taken before ours. Sadly our server is literally cooking which indicates that they are improperly staffed and I'm sure most employees quit due to improper treatment which I have heard about in the past. This is NOT a server flaw but a flaw with management and staffing. There are literally 5 tables and I've waited almost an hour for a salad. If I ever associated my name with this particular branch I would be humiliated at this moment. This review is not based on the food quality because that was terrible but because my waitress went above and beyond. The food here is fine. its just like any other Steak and Shake. Its the Customer service that is non existent and unforgivingly slow. We waited 45 min to be served, at least 15 min for even our orders to be taken or given water, and the worst part is that we waited another 10-15 to be checked out at the counter. While we were waiting at the counter there were two employees eating at the bar and kept asking if anyone was available to check us out, not willing to get up and find someone. I have been to this steak and shake many many times before, generally when I go it is no earlier than 11:00 PM. Usually when it is that late there may be one or two seats that are occupied. Last night was different though. Almost every seat in the building was full, and that is the reason i believe that it had sub-par performance. When we first arrived we stood in the doorway waiting to be seated for roughly ten minutes. There were seats available but the staff was very busy with the amount of people that were inside. When we finally got seated our drink orders were never placed, no placemats were given, and neither was silverware. Once again we waited a good 15 minutes for our order to be placed. Our server was obviously not used to this amount of traffic and was fairly nervous so we were pretty easy on him, he took our drink and food order at this time. The food came out fast as is usually does and tasted wonderful. For a pretty bad visit I'm giving this steak and shake a three star rating because of numerous times I have been there in the past when it wasn't busy, or when it was busy but during a different shift and everything was fine. I believe that for the amount of traffic in their last night they were a tad bit understaffed though. read more

Stopped in to give it a try. Was very happy with our lunch. I don't eat much, so it was great to be able to get little slider burgers for only .89 each. Their onion rings are decent too. Hubby had a good burger with fries. Best surprise was the price!!!! Less than $8 for lunch!!!! Yes we are cheap, but hey it's our money!!! This place is absolutely horrendous. Every time I come here something is messed up. Wether it's giving me someone else's food or when I order online and when I go there to get my food they're closed for cleaning, so it takes a whole week to get a refund and three managers later... just bad experiences every time. We go there and this nice lady greets us as we go up to the counter, we ask for 2 milkshakes and pay. We sit there waiting, and waiting, and waiting. They had a lot of people there so i could have understood why it would have taken longer, but looking around everyone had there food or was paying. The lady asks us have we not gotten them yet she said sorry about that it just be a few more minutes. Looking at the people in the kitchen they were standing there doing nothing and talking, the man on the grill was just standing there cooking more patties when he already had a huge stack done. I have never gotten through the drive through in less then 20 minutes even when there is only 1 car in front of me. It doesn't matter if you go at 12PM or 12AM they are ALWAYS slow. The restaurant was lively and busy when we walked in but we were seated relatively quickly...at least once we slid our way to the booth they sat us in. The floors were a safety hazard and we are shocked that we didn't see more slippage while we dined. The cleanliness of this restaurant overall left a lot to be desired. Our server was pleasant and returned with our requests quickly. The only ding in her performance was that we had to request silverware for our meal after we we given it. Overall though, she was solid, the food was solid and error free. Additionally, the speed was better than some other restaurants we've been to in this chain. We would consider coming back, but we would definitely like to see things cleaned up a lot more. It's sad when the dining experience is tainted before the food arrives. read more

Last night went to the restaurant. A Family brought in their pet dog. This was not a seeing eye dog, or comfort dog. It was their pet. I have no problem with the two kinds of dogs listed, but you bring in your per for a birthday party with no regards to the other customers. They are handling the dog, handling the menus, on the chairs, and you are feeding the dog. Menus are not wiped down and given to other customers coming in and the chairs are not wiped down. We were not the only ones complaining. We will not be going back there. Management was like they did not know what to do. read more

The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was disturbing. We received a roll of silverware with mold on the napkin. My husbands burger had a hair embedded in the burger. Went there on a couple of occasions and was not impressed at all. The first time I tried to eat inside and the staff just stared at me like an idiot even though they had a "please wait to be seated sign up". After trying to wait for someone to seat me for 5 minutes and having a couple of the staff even pass by me, saying nothing, I left. On another occasion I went through the drive through where they completely mutilated my order. For some reason I went back yet again, hoping beyond hopes that this time would be different, it wasn't. I ordered a shake my meal and the staff was super rude to me but at least they didn't manage to mess up my order that time.
