WTF, one of my favorite sit down place is now a place you order from a screen even if you are paying cash, get your own drink, and might not find your old favorite from the slimmed down menu. I have eaten at this chain in 3 states and never seen one set up like this. When I said something, I was was rudely told that all of them will be like this. Maybe that is why I found my burger made wrong even if the print out was correct. This location is where I got my ex husband to love Steak and Shake 20 years ago. He hated trying new places to eat but give him good burger his way - plain and those french fries, thin he learns to love them enough to drive 30 miles to go to one of the first locations in SE Michigan. Like when Bill Knapp messed with what the old customers loved to attract new younger ones, this chain may find itself out of business. It will lose me now. read more

They were serving like it was Covid. You could go in, order, but had to leave and couldn't dine in. Apparently the whole concept has changed. Restaurant was CLEAN. I mean clean! The staff was really friendly. Our food was fresh and was ready quick. Everyone was above and beyond polite. Horrible service. Why have a closing time of 12 when you tell the customer at 11:45 they ready served their last customer? Why not post that the closing time is earlier if you plan on not serving until the posted closing time. It's very annoying. The best part? We were shocked to see a Steak 'n Shake while we were traveling so we stopped in. Slimmed down menu, no servers, cold food (the buns were sort of frozen- weird) and the fountain drinks tasted a bit off. We didn't expect a gourmet meal but we expected warm food at least. read more

As a Restaurant GM myself its nice to see that this company follows protocols while doing their jobs to make it a friendly environment. Well may have had my worst experience ever at a steak n' shake. So been sitting in the drive thru for a good 40 minutes 20 to actually get our food ordered and 20 to actually pay and get our order. This is one of the slowest restaurants in the kokomo area. read more

Okay me and three others ate here and the service could not be worse not to mention the dirty ass floors. My order though was fairly simple. I wanted the number 8 with extra grilled onions. I got the sandwich and the onions were raw. For me this wasn't a huge deal, but one of my friends said hell nah and took it up to counter. The cook then got shitty and got the manager involved and her response to the situation was. "I'm not going to remake this, but I look the onions off and grilled them." Like hell no your suppose remake the whole sandwich not just fix the fuck up. Never coming back to this establishment in Marion or really any other Steak & Shake. If this one has poor leadership and crew members I'm sure they all do then within my area. Four people have the same experience and we're spreading our experience like wild fire. Hopefully Corporate can get involved before this establishment crumbles due to its unprofessional ethics. I've had the pleasure of meeting a very special waitress here a few years ago. They are NOT rude. They are allowed to have an off day, just like you or I am as well. I think you should try them out again,. However, I love eating here. I mostly enjoy coming to sit down for breakfast with my children when we are able to find some time to do so. Well i am no longer a customer of this establishment. I have ordered my burgers extra well done 6 times now and everyone of them were still pink almost to the edge. I have also found out that they no longer cook their veggie soup, which was one of the main reasons I even went ther in the first place. They are now serving the veggies, non-cooked, and with cold soup, you can have it warmed up if you want, but after 3 times in the microwave my veggies were still hard and crunchy. Worst dining experience I've ever had. This place is awful. Sat for 15 minutes before a waitress came by. Wanted to place a to-go order, but waitress ignored our table for over half an hour. Had to ask another waitress for help. Several people walked out during the hour and a half we were there. At one point there were ten people standing at the front waiting to pay, someone had to yell at the people working in order to get their attention. I was in the restaurant today about 2 pm. There was a lot of people in there for that time of day. I had the chilly 5 way with a side salad. The salad came and then the chilly about 45 seconds later. I would have liked to have had a chance to eat my salad , and not allow the chilly to get cold. The chilly was good except there was grease puddling in the bottom of the bowl. Oh my gosh this is the worst place ever. I have NEVER had service so bad. First we stood for at least 3 or more minutes waiting on a waitress to sit us. My daughter in law finally grabbed menus and we sat down. One of the waitresses walked up bitching at us talking about how we should not be grabbing menus and it was going to be a very long wait. After we sat down we waited another 10 minutes before a waitress even took our order. There was 5 of us and we all ordered shakes 3 out of the 5 shakes were wrong. I sent mine back. Our food orders 3 of our sandwiches were made wrong and 3 of our sandwiches were extremely cold. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager whose name is Maddie was rude as can be and did nothing but make excuses. I told her we shouldn't pay for the food and she made us any way.
