Good service n food clean restaurant atmosphere fun they have the staff do a country line dance pretty cool

12 oz. rare prime rib with straight horseradish au jus, and mashed potatoes. Delicious!

As much as I prefer restaurants that are locally owned and operated, there are certain advantages to chains, especially when traveling. Specifically, you know what you're going to get. And in a small town like Marion, Indiana (pop. 28,000 and the birthplace of James Dean), that can be a good thing. Here more than two weeks, I tried a few local places and found one quite good, one OK, and one I wouldn't recommend. Perhaps as a result, I found myself a temporary "regular" at the Texas Roadhouse. When I'm eating alone, I usually sit at the bar so I at least have the bartender to talk to. This time, there was another advantage to being a "bar regular": free food! After seven punches on a "bar card" (no, not THAT type, Counsellor!), regulars get a free appetizer. After 10 more, it's $20 off dinner. My "lighter" dinners at the Roadhouse usually consisted of a small salad, the grilled shrimp appetizer, and some killer freshly baked rolls with cinnamon-sugar butter. Those were my undoing, I'm afraid. Still, all that and a glass of wine and dinner was maybe $20-$25 with tip. The Roadhouse also offers a wide selection of steaks, from a 6 oz. sirloin to a humongous bone-in rib-eye, starters, salads, sandwiches and more. On my last night in town, I used my $20 certificate (which I'm only slightly embarrassed to say that I earned) and indulged in a prime rib dinner. A 12 oz. portion, their smallest, was plenty and they found a slice that was nicely rare - my favorite way to have a good cut of meat! Along with a side Caesar salad, mashed potatoes and the aforementioned rolls, I was good to go! All the bartenders I got to know a little bit --- Tori, Madison, Hannah and Alyssa - were great at remembering their guests' names, filling their food and drink requests, and making a little conversation when their workload allowed. The people at Texas Roadhouse work hard to create that roadhouse atmosphere. It's a family place and a little loud, so be prepared for birthday greetings that end with everyone in the house giving their heartiest, "Yee-HAW!" to a line dance the servers do maybe once every 45 minutes or so. Back in the day, it's the kind of place that would have had peanut shells on the floor. Today, the floor is clean, the food is consistent, and the service excellent. It's popular among locals so there's often a bit of a wait for a table but there's almost always a seat at the bar. Tell the bartenders I sent you!

Unsweet peach tea and dinner rolls with cinnamon butter! Delicious!!

Excellent food for a chain restaurant! Pleasantly surprised. Pros: Service was excellent. Prompt. Semi friendly server. Felt like she was just going through the motions. But pleasant enough. Cons: Menu was sticky.

Either tiny chilli or giant saltine, you be the judge

Ordered a bowl of chilli, it's about three bites and $6, that's about $2 a bite for the math challenged. Shrimp ap was cooked so much it was almost hollow. Beer was cold and service was great, just order beer and bring a bag of chips, then you are sure to leave happy. What the heck happened to this place?

First we spent $150 for food that was so bad, ordered my steak med. always do, should be slightly pink, this steak was purple raw! No seasoning at all, 2 of us ordered steak and bbq chicken, chicken was cold and undercooked not to temp at all! Ribs were burnt. So only things eatable was kids chicken nuggets, check out the old burnt potato, for this price we will never order again!

I love the fact that the line dancing is back, as it really adds to the enjoyment of a Roadhouse & helps to remove the thoughts of Covid.

We would've also ordered a meatball sub but they were out of meatballs. The only real negative I experienced was the bacon on the bogg salad, it was real bacon, but not crispy. I don't like that congealed fat taste on my tongue. I know it's "cooked", but it's not good. The chicken was very tasty. I was glad I ordered the bacon on the side. The ranch and blue cheese dressings seemed to be homemade and were super yummy! The pizzas were both excellent, I can't wait to order again. This thin crust is my husband's favorite, and the crust stayed crispy even for carry out. The garlic cheese bread and marinara were also excellent! You can tell they use real quality ingredients, and I really appreciate that. No need to order extra cheese, they don't skimp. It would be so easy to give this place 5 stars if it weren't for that bacon. ;)

The facility is not overly attractive or inviting. You have to decide which door to use depending on which business you are frequenting. I didn't see any signs for the outdoor seating to direct you to the hostess. The parking lot is large with lots of spaces up close. We were here for food so we picked the door to Grains & Grill. The host was very friendly and kind. The inside looked welcoming. The journey to get to the outdoor seating was a bit of a maze. There seems to be plenty of comfortable indoor seating though it is kind of broken up in disjointed rooms. The outside area was nice. The over hang shielded us from the sun in our evening dinning hours. I found the tables to be a bit close together. There was another party next to our table so we had to be cautious about moving chairs to get situated. The outdoor chairs have a flexible plastic seat. The seat seemed to give more than made me comfortable. The chair seemed a bit flimsy. However, it was comfortable and didn't collapse on me. We started with the fried mushrooms. There were a LOT of small mushroom tips in this order. The batter was thicker and a bit mushy. There wasn't much seasoning flavor to the batter but it wasn't greasy to taste. The mushrooms seemed fresh. The dish was fairly good. The cocktail sauce had a decent amount of zip to it. My wife had the blackened fish tacos. Two came with the order. She loved the fresh taste. Definitely not a fishy taste. Delicious she said! I decided to try the Hoosier Hot Plate. It seemed like a house speciality...so why not! The tenderloin was outstanding! The pork was moist and juicy and moderately thin. The breading was nicely crunchy and moderately thick with a slight greasy taste. Maybe the best tenderloin I have ever had! The tenderloin was laid on top of a bed a real mashed potatoes. You could tell they were real by the lumps I bone smooth consistency. These were excellent as well. Just like mashed potatoes should be that were going to accent the meat. The tenderloin was topped with a creamed corn. I would have been disappointed if this creamed corn was the side dish. It was kind of bland and didn't have much of a corn taste. It was also rather mushy. I didn't think the corn added much taste to the tenderloin/mashed potato taste. Overall...it was an interesting dish that was worth a try.

Our drink order was taken, which was almost all water. Drinks came several minutes later. Orders were taken a few minutes after that. Food did take a bit but not unreasonable. At that time a few people needed more water. It took over 10 minutes before a pitcher of water was delivered to the table by someone other than our server. Bread was requested to the person bringing the water since we hadn't seen our server in nearly 15 minutes. Another 10 minutes and our server comes to check on us. She stated she didn't know about the lack of bread and blamed it on the other employee not telling her. At least another 10 minutes go by and nearly everyone is finished eating when the bread arrives. The food was good and the amount of food was good. All but me had eaten there before. 3 got the Hoosier plate, a couple had the tenderloin, a couple got burgers, and I got the Makers beef tips. All enjoyed their food and only a couple had any left to take home. The mashed potatoes were very good and a large portion. There were several ounces of meat and a good portion of green beans. The food was definitely a 4+. The service was a 2 at best. Along with the poor service, they added the optional 20% gratuity, since we had a party of 8. I knew this was possible since I read it on the menu. Most of the party did not. It was noted on the ticket but it was put very close to the other charges. For some, it was not noticeable. I understand the reasoning behind the charge but if the business isn't crowded and the servers aren't working excessively, I don't believe it's justified. In this instance, it may have led to poorer service since the server knew she'd be getting 20% no matter what.
