I was recently at the Texas Roadhouse in Marian Indiana. I am with my wife we were setting in a booth waiting for our meal. Next to us, a booth with approximately 4 to 6 people in it were having a conversation. One gentleman in the booth decided he wanted to use the f word four times within 3minutes. I ask him to please stop. And I ask him if he would use that kind of language around his children or his grandmother. His response was these are my kids. A A young girl, approximately ten years old was sitting in the boot, and I assumed that was his daughter. While talking with this gentleman, he became rather aggressive. And I stood up I just said please watch your language, please. I don't like it around my wife. At that time, one of the assistant managers at Texas Roadhouse came over and said we can't have this here and ask if I wanted to be moved. I informed her that we were not moving.And that if you wanted to move the other people that would be her decision. Later the main manager came up and spoke to us about the situation and apologized for the actions of his assistant. He stated that he did not believe that his assistant had acted in Malice. He then offered to comp a meal and I told him that was not necessary but if he felt that he we should do so that would be all right. While the manager did come back and talk to us and confidential and I appreciated those actions the main part was the actions of the other patron. Behavior like this should not be tolerated within a good establishment such as the Texas Roadhouse. We did notice that while we were eating the other individuals involved in this were either asked to leave or decided to leave. I sincerely hope that this individual will recognize what he had done was unacceptable and was inappropriate in front of his children as in the wider audience of those at the restaurant. I will continue to eat at Texas Roadhouse. The one in Muncie never seems to have these problems. I surely hope this was a isolated incident and will not occur again. In closing I just want to say words matter and should be carefully considered before spoken. Treat everybody with respect as well as your own family and those around you. read more

This was my first time visiting this chain. We came in after church on a Sunday. The place was very busy. Yet we were quickly greeted and seated. We were talking to the manager and he learned it was my first visit. He brought over a taste of their side items to try. It was so nice. And they were delicious. I ordered the grilled shrimp and they were excellent. The portion size was large and the food was great. The atmosphere is casual and the booth we sat in was comfortable. We sat in the bar area. Looked like a great place to come in if you were by yourself to sit and grab a bite to eat. read more

My family comes here to celebrate life milestones, to have supper with family from out of town, and to just gather to meet. We usually have a great time! The food is typically fresh and cooked how it's needed and we have never had a bad server. On a couple of last visits, management and host staff haven't been great. They've been impersonal and kind of rush. We had a really serious incident happen to us on our last visit and the manager who responded was terrible and didn't have any compassion. However the owner took responsibly and he remedy the situation and ensured we were okay. The vibes are okay here. Music can get really loud but it's usually clean. read more

As much as I prefer restaurants that are locally owned and operated, there are certain advantages to chains, especially when traveling. Specifically, you know what you're going to get. And in a small town like Marion, Indiana (pop. 28,000 and the birthplace of James Dean), that can be a good thing. Here more than two weeks, I tried a few local places and found one quite good, one OK, and one I wouldn't recommend. Perhaps as a result, I found myself a temporary "regular" at the Texas Roadhouse. When I'm eating alone, I usually sit at the bar so I at least have the bartender to talk to. This time, there was another advantage to being a "bar regular": free food! After seven punches on a "bar card" (no, not THAT type, Counsellor!), regulars get a free appetizer. After 10 more, it's $20 off dinner. My "lighter" dinners at the Roadhouse usually consisted of a small salad, the grilled shrimp appetizer, and some killer freshly baked rolls with cinnamon-sugar butter. Those were my undoing, I'm afraid. Still, all that and a glass of wine and dinner was maybe $20-$25 with tip. The Roadhouse also offers a wide selection of steaks, from a 6 oz. sirloin to a humongous bone-in rib-eye, starters, salads, sandwiches and more. On my last night in town, I used my $20 certificate (which I'm only slightly embarrassed to say that I earned) and indulged in a prime rib dinner. A 12 oz. portion, their smallest, was plenty and they found a slice that was nicely rare - my favorite way to have a good cut of meat! Along with a side Caesar salad, mashed potatoes and the aforementioned rolls, I was good to go! All the bartenders I got to know a little bit --- Tori, Madison, Hannah and Alyssa - were great at remembering their guests' names, filling their food and drink requests, and making a little conversation when their workload allowed. The people at Texas Roadhouse work hard to create that roadhouse atmosphere. It's a family place and a little loud, so be prepared for birthday greetings that end with everyone in the house giving their heartiest, "Yee-HAW!" to a line dance the servers do maybe once every 45 minutes or so. Back in the day, it's the kind of place that would have had peanut shells on the floor. Today, the floor is clean, the food is consistent, and the service excellent. They brought me the wrong salad dressing and the waitress insisted it was what I asked for, when I thanked her; she said "yup." Do not go there for Prime Rib, they are out before 6:00 every time I've ordered it. Why does a large corporation like Texas Roadhouse not prepare enough Prime Rib past 6:00pm!! This has been my go to roadhouse location since it opened. However the last few visits have been a far cry from all the glory Marion used to be. First and most importantly servers act like extra butter comes from their paychecks. Appetizers/salads arrive after the main course is on the table. First, if you compare the Marion Texas Roadhouse to those in Muncie and Anderson, do yourself a favor and drive 30-40 minutes South. Marion is by far the most consistently poor one in the group. Tonight I ordered the prime rib. I usually order medium because it normally comes out a medium rare. Mine was terribly rare. Couldn't even cut it without shaking the au jus off the plate. Even the server was like yeah-no. It's definitely rare. They took it back and brought it out 5 minutes later. You could tell they threw it on the grill because it had steak seasoning and didn't taste no where near like a prime rib. My wife's sweet loaded sweet potato was cold. I try this place, give it a year or so and come back thinking perhaps management has changed or perhaps they hired better help in the back of the house but no. They are not that unusual (just Sweet Tea & Diet Pepsi with Grenadine) but that was a great start. Service was on the money as she was on top of our needs. She got our 10% "Local Heroes" discount for prior military service & 1st Responders without the need for me to ask for it. Both my wife & I ordered the Bone-in Ribeyes because our dogs requested the bones. I get mine Medium, but that is too rare for my wife who orders hers Medium Well so there is very little pink in it. I prefer the Caesar Salad & Green Beans, while my wife has become addicted (my word not hers) to the Smashed Potatoes & Green Beans. Admittedly, the Bread "IS" my addiction! I love the fact that the line dancing is back, as it really adds to the enjoyment of a Roadhouse & helps to remove the thoughts of Covid. I would love to be able to hear the music better, but generally I don't notice it at all because of the basic restaurant noises. Usually when I come to TRH I come for the steak. Their steaks are always so delicious. It has been quite a while since I've been here and this was just built in the city where I live where our only options are Applebee's and Bob Evans. At any rate, on this occasion I decided to order the mushroom smothered chicken with a baked potato and buttered corn. It was one of the most delicious chicken I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection: moist and juicy with the charbroiled taste. The corn was perfectly buttered. We also got the bloomin onion of course and fried pickles and both were so delicious. I forgot about how much I love this place. So happy to have one right down the road. Definitely come here! It is super busy but they were on point with the service. Pricing is great. This branch isn't very good. The manager actively encourages no customer wifi, as he wants people in the door and out again as quick as they can. I'm sure that business model makes sense to him. But, this end of Marion has the worst cell phone reception. They expect you to wait outside in your car or outside the door. As the waiting area is full of boxes and closed since the pandemic. This is Indiana. It's either cold or hot. And if you have no cell phone reception, it makes the entire wait a nightmare. So u you have to wait and be uncomfortable. The staff try their best. It's a busy restaurant. But when you eat there multiple times and your appetiser arrives after your entre. We've just given up and drive over to the Kokomo one. Which is better arranged and you get what you order. So until this franchise branch has a new a manager. We will never eat here again. They aren't thinking about customer welfare. We went to this location post Covid and boy was it a hot mess. Their "check jn" process had us wait for 45 minutes when they accidentally forgot to mark that we were there. There were about 6 girls at the hostess desk all crowded together (both when we arrived and when we left). They have an area marked off for enter and exit but they don't use it because the hostess desk is blocking it, or rather, the excess number of girls at the desk blocked it. Our server who had 3 tables often forgot us and our food was awful. We were told there was no manager there at that time to help us. Our server was kind enough to give us to-go boxes for our horrible food. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt but damn it was bad. read more

Decided to go with what we know and Checked in and was told it would be an hour or more. We put our name in the list and began to wait. Got a text within 42 minutes! We were 8 minutes checking back in and our table was gone!! The hostess said their policy was 5 minutes. I asked to speak to a manager to beg!! Got run out of Noblesville Texas Roadhouse due to volume of the music so we though we would try the Marion location. Again, volume for the employees entertainment, not the customers. Asked server if it could be turned down as she said she would see. Volume increased 100%. Asked why, she said they line dance once and hour and need the music loud. I want to start off my review by saying that this is the 10th time in a row that they have managed to totally screw my word up. Every single time I come here they have problems. This time I waited in the parking lot 25 minutes past the time it said my order would be ready until I had to go in and request a refund. it doesn't matter if I die in in, Orgeron me to go or order a cooked to go but every single time I have nothing but problems with this place. The last time I ordered food to go I ordered four porterhouse steaks and they ended up giving me pork chops instead. Overall, one of my worst experience at this restaurant. We had to wait an hour for a seat after being told there was a max 30 min wait, but that wasn't the worst part. After getting our steak, mine was cooked right, but the cut was terrible and 50% fat. The other two were really undercooked, with one being thin and flavorless.
