This is not the brisket you're looking for. *Jedi hand wave* Tender, smokey and melt in your mouth. Five stars for brisket! Just don't buy it all before I get there. Hence the Jedi mind trick. It took 2 visits before I could try their famous slow cooked brisket. The first attempt they were sold out of brisket so I tried the St Louis cut ribs and a stuffed potato. Four stars, ribs were a bit too dry. They have a good selection of bottles and tap for the beer drinkers. Yuengling, Go figure! The wine list is disappointing. I've been spoiled by the awesome wine/bbq pairings of Santa Barbara for too long. And Star Wars fans, you will love the decor. read more

The meats were really dry and flavorless. The sauce to me wasn't very good, too sweet. The others just didn't taste right either. The service wasn't bad, nice waitress helped us try the different sauces first without charging and our drinks were pretty well filled. Ambiance wasn't bad, but one of the tables (the one we were at) was next to a door/wall with chalkboard paint, and a kid came over and started to draw with chalk basically over our food and this went on for a few minutes at least before a parent paid for their meals and took the kid. Overall, not coming back mainly due to the food. Obi didn't look like he was around, and that's probably why the place gone downhill. read more

This BBQ joint lies in James Dean's and Garfield creator, Jim Davis's hometown! Like Garfield...I was ready to stuff myself. Obi's sits in downtown Marion in what looks like a remodeled old building with plenty of tables and a bar to accommodate guests. I went with the 2 meat/2 sides with pork and brisket and slaw and cornbread. They were out of brisket so I went with ribs. The ribs had a delicious rub to them and the ribs were easy to chew. The pork was also tender and tasty. The slaw was creamy and sweet. But the cornbread was my favorite part of the meal. They gave me two cornbread sticks and these sticks had some kind of spice mixed in with them that made it stand out. There are 5 BBQ sauces: sweet, spicy, Carolina, white Alabama, and Raspberry Chipotle. Out of the 5, the Raspberry Chipotle is the one I enjoyed the most for its uniqueness. It had the sweetness of a Raspberry and the heat at the back of Chipotle. The Carolina would be my next favorite with its apple cider vinegar taste. The White Alabama was more on the horseradish side compared to other white Alabama sauces I've had. The sweet and the spicy were also solid sauces. They brew sweet tea in house so I was very excited about that and it past this Bama Boy's standards for sweet tea! I would love to come back and try the brisket and Mac and cheese! read more

Food was excellent, as we had the ribs/brisket combo, nachos and smoked wings.. my sides were Mac n cheese + greens, and both were great! Great brewed ice tea for the win! So so so good. We stopped here after a conference game for our son's football team. Go, CCS! And it was just about perfect. The service was amazing. Just wonderful. And the food even better. Now, I'm not a huge bbq fan, so when I say this KNOW that it good food. The cornbread is a little thick but delicious. And the cole slaw was better than most. I'm pretty picky about cornbread AND cole slaw. And the bbq. Spot on. Side Note: I definitely recommend trying the white sauce. We dropped about 80.00 here but worth every penny... Came for lunch today for the first time. Large free public parking lot across the street and easy to find and park. Atmosphere is very open and clean. Service was average. Not sure if she was new or what... but not great. Turkey leg- meat was flavorful, well cooked and moist. Paired well with the sweet BBQ. Skin was very tough, but meat was much better than typical smoked turkey. Pork belly- excellent! Very flavorful. The seasoning was delicious. Portion size for the price was not the best though. Rip tips- also very flavorful. Once again, portion size was lacking. Sauce flight- spicy and sweet bbq were both delicious. The white is more of an aioli. Mustard and horseradish notes. Sriracha was just that- spicy but flavorful. My favorite was the Carolina. Overall all very good and fun to try with different menu items! In all, very good experience. Will be back. Only knock was the service and small portion sizes. Presentation also was not great.. but then again who goes to eat BBQ for the plate presentation! read more

It comes with a lot of food.Their collard greens are one of the best I've had in my life and I've had plenty. Their brisket is amazing. Went out to Fort Wayne for an estate sale & hit this place while on the way home. Was excited for some yummy BBQ but this place was a disappointment. We got the bbq loaded baked potato, a slab of ribs, macaroni and meat candy burnt bites. We had also asked for corn bread and wings but they were out of both, which is surprising for a Saturday. The ribs had a weird smell and taste to them, almost fish like? But my MIL said it was the rub they used. I only ate one. The potato was really big but was very underwhelming. You can tell they use canned jalapeños and nacho cheese. There was brisket on top of it as well, but it wasn't very good. They were small pieces (3 in total). And our waitress had asked if we wanted bbq, we said no. But now I see it's necessary for this app because it wasn't tasteful. There wasn't any butter or seasoning, at least that I could taste. The Mac and was super dry, like it had been sitting for a while. The meat candy was probably the only good thing out of everything we ordered. The first one was pretty good, dipped in the sweet bbq sauce. And then as I ate another it just didn't taste very good. Got bored of it quick and they were pretty tough. They have a variety of sauces you can get. They have a Carolina sauce, which I assume is supposed to be based off of the Carolina reaper. I was excited for a sweet kick but was left with a vinegar flavor instead. There was no kick or heat at all. Overall, the food is not worth going back for & I won't be recommending it to anyone anytime soon. You'd think on the weekend they'd have the freshest variety of food. 1st visit, 10/14/2021. We had been given some previously, but this was our 1st time in the restaurant. Although on the door it states "Masks Required" inside was an entirely different story & they simply were not required. The restaurant itself is a simply conversion of an open space. Walk-in & take note of the chalkboards in the back. They include specials & whether to seat yourself or not. For us it was a Seat Yourself night. Does this ever change? I don't know, as I mentioned, it was our 1st time in. Cassidy was quickly to our table with menus in hand. Coke products but there is a small bar as well next to the order/pick-up counter in back. We ordered a Loaded Potato for my wife with Brisket on it & I ordered the 2 Meat Platter with double Brisket (3 Meat Platters are also available). I also had the Sweet BBQ sauce (several to choose from). You can choose between Chicken, Pork or Brisket as your meats. Single Choice or mix anyway you like. Additionally I had Mamma's Coleslaw & Macaroni & Cheese. The Coleslaw is just the way I grew up with it, Sweet & Creamy. Definitely not typical northern Coleslaw! Complements to Mamma! I would have preferred a creamier Mac & Cheese, but to each his own. Once the food came my eyes became bigger than my stomach. It didn't look like all that much food but I took some home (this rarely ever happens). I knew from the onset my wife would take at least half of hers home and she did. Brisket is not the easiest meat in the world to cook properly but Obi's does it right! You can cut most of it with a fork. I am NOT a fan of fat, but that is where the BBQ Rub is, so enjoy it too. When we 1st sat down there were only a few people there. By the time we left, the place was nearly full. At the end we ordered the Apple Cake (2 orders) to go. This took a bit longer to get, but we were okay with that seeing how the crowd had increased. I was not impressed with the Apple cake. My wife liked it & I was just not impressed. It was good, just not impressive. Next time I "Might" ask for it without the Carmel & Icing. That way when I get it home I can heat it more than I did. I may have been able to heat it more with those, but I wasn't sure & played it safe. Price: $47.55 Call-in &/or Take-out & catering is available. Next time: The Obichos. I hope I can get them "Layered" & not just have all the meat & cheese on the top? read more

So happy to have Obi's in downtown Marion! My husband and I have been there a handful of times and typically split the Obichos. De-li-cious! The chips are amazing, and the creativity of the toppings (coleslaw, baked beans, etc.) keeps it interesting. Since we're vegetarian we get the Obichos without meat, but ask for the house-made BBQ sauce, so we can still get the BBQ experience. Every time we visit, we're pleasantly surprised at how quickly we get our food. Every server we've encountered are not only professional, attentive, and prompt, but they always make it a memorable experience. One server even made topping suggestions, and it made our Obichos even better--above and beyond! Great selection of beer, and I especially appreciate the Bad Dad (brewery located in Fairmount) options because I like being able to support local businesses. To make it a five-star experience, I would love if they offered a meat substitute for their BBQ. Something like jackfruit. Don't get me wrong, I love the Obichos, and we will continue to order them, but it would be nice to have another main dish that we could order. It would also be a perfect experience if there was music. It gets a little awkward if no one's talking, and you can hear people eating.
