I would never recommend this store! If I could give 0 stars I would! Three people in our party ordered 3 sweet teas. They filled them up and saw the lid was off and it was half full. While we ate, we watched the employee from the back take the tea from the front to the back and dump at least half of it out. We were not able to receive any refills, and paid $2.65 per drink. I let the manager ( JAMIE) know this and he did absolutely nothing. Obviously as a manager, you try to make it right with paying customers who provide your income. I let him know I was dissatisfied and that I would be completing the survey and reviews from our experience. Maybe train your managers that the customers are right, as it used to be. I would not recommend or EVER go back to this establishment. $45 for 4 meals and 3 drinks. PATHETIC! TRY TO DO BETTER STEAK N SHAKE!!! read more

I've only gone here a handful of times through the drive thru, but have never had any issues. Food comes out fast, prices are correct, staff is pleasant, and food is fresh and warm. Can't speak to the inside, but I haven't been unhappy here yet. read more

Probably the cleanest Steak N' Shake I've ever been to. Good location right on 231. The only time I ever go to Steak N' Shake is for their daily happy hour (1/2 off drinks from 2-4 AM and 2-4 PM). I never come away disappointed. read more

I went through the drive-thru recently and it took longer than usual and the cashier was too busy to be nice. If you want your order made wrong, have to drive back to have it replaced, and not be compensated for the inconvenience,this is the place for you! We ordered 2 chili Mac supremes with extra sauce (we don't like it dry). The receipt did show they recorded the order correctly. Both of them were completely dry around all the edges and under the tiny amount of sauce and maybe 2 tablespoons of the chili meat. There were maybe 10 pieces of onions and a tiny bit of cheese. These looked absolutely nothing like the picture, of how we normally get it. They looked about 1/2 as full as normal. Aside from that we ordered 2 chocolate covered strawberry shakes with extra chocolate. They didn't put in the order correctly because there was no up charge for the chocolate.. and of course there was only a tiny bit of chocolate. They offered to remake the order but offered nothing but an apology for the inconvenience. What I wanted was the $10 back for the frustration and inconvenience. So our dinner was ruined. We opted to keep our bad, dry food instead of going out in the cold and driving all the way back .. probably for it to still be wrong. We had stopped going to this location a few years ago due to the poor service and rude staff (2 different people). We only recently went back. We won't be back, ever. read more

Dined here last night. Waited 10 minutes-no waiter. Asked at the hostess stand for a waiter. Got attitude and eye rolling. No waiter. Finally a young man comes to our table. Says he is our waiter and they didn't know he was outside. More attitude. Wife's steak burger was cold. Cheese wasn't melted. Never ever again will we eat here. These were the absolute worst burgers we have ever gotten from a Steak 'n Shake. We ordered one with no cheese because my husband had a dairy allergy and we explained that, the burger came with cheese. The other burger was ordered with nothing on it but ketchup and cheese it had mustard and pickles. The burgers were paper thin and the fries were cold. We realized all of this about 10 minutes into a 6 hour drive. We had to wait 10 minutes to get the order we weren't going back to get it fixed. read more

We always sit at the counter at Steak-&-Shake... And this was a great one. It was literally dinner and a floor show! The young man at the grill was amazing, and was turning out burgers properly done, and really quickly. When he needed a break the manager jumped in! He also waited on folks, worked registers, and pulled them through a busy spell, and was very encouraging to his people. We got into a conversation with him (the manager), and he told us stories about coming to America 15 years ago and got a job at S&S washing dishes. Meet his wife there, learned the business and now train's for them (he's a turnaround manager). Clean, quick, efficient store which left a good impression on us. Sit down restaurants in crawfordsville that aren't fast food are a rarity. As far as this particular Steak N Shake goes I have had much better service here then I have ones in other locations. Brownsburg in particular. Do I really need to review the food? I think you know what is on the Steak n Shake menu by now. The Cherry Lime-Aid drinks are pretty tasty that they started offering a while back. If you come here ask for Kristin. She is an awesome Waitress and lot's of fun. read more

I am normally a fan of Steak N Shake, but I no longer go to this particular store. I am prepared when I go for this Steak N Shake to be extremely slow. The food is usually worth the wait. Unfortunately, the past two times I have gone I have had to complain to the server about the quality/ accuracy of my order. It takes a lot for me to complain, but the food has just been that bad. Im a local diner and this place has gone down hill. Slow service even on off hours. Tables and seating many dirty. The floors were dirty the walls are dirty and dusty the kitchen area appers to have a years worth of crap built up on the floor under the food prep area. Dust and grease on walls in kitchen above grill. Raw food not covered as flies seemed to be feasting next to grill. Grill controls are missing knobs broken equipment hanging in kitchen above food prep area both cash registers have the backs removed probably due to overheating because the vents on both were clogged with dust. This place needs a make over and management needs to wake up. People of crawfordsville are getting tired of this local resturant trend of lousy service and filthy conditions. Went through the drive-thru and ordered a chicken tender meal with a lemonade to drink. I asked the person taking my order if I could get my fries large and a cheese sauce as well. I get up to the window and the person who took my order, the manager, took my card, swiped it and then hanged me a large drink. I told him I'd only ordered my fries large and he rolled his eyes at me and slammed the door in my face. After a few minutes he opens the door again and hands me a dollar and says "here I don't know what the difference is" and slams the door again. A few minutes later he hands me my drink and card without a receipt and tells me "pull forward and wait on your food." I sat there for 10 minutes waiting on chicken tenders and fries while other cars behind me were able to get their food and leave right away. Then I get home (only a 5 minute drive) and I only have one chicken tender in my bag, a small fry and it's all cold. I paid $7 and some change for one chicken tender, a small fry and a drink. The Mexican manager is really mean to his employees and the food portions are really small.

Big improvement in the last few months. Past managers were incompetent, but the new manager has turned this place around.

Ordered a number 4 today with a milkshake. Waited in the drive thru about 10 to 15 minutes. Also had to repeat my order twice and when I finally got my food , burger was burnt and there were zero toppings on my burger except for bacon and cheese. my milkshake was a little over half full. I usually don't complain about service but when you wait that long in line for a $10 meal.. It better be right. I am writing a review on the store in Crawfordsville, IN. This store has extreme problems with slow food and not getting orders correct (kitchen). However, after all the negative we experienced tonight.... we still had a very awesome waitress. If you go to the Crawfordsville Steak n Shake ask for Chasity. I must say she is the best server there and a server that goes out of her way for the customers! Finally this store has a good server.
