We had soft serve chocolate ice cream. Nothing special about the ice cream. Neither hard or soft serve is made in house. Prices were reasonable for the cones. There is no seating inside, everything is either drive through or order outside. There is seating outside under umbrellas and a very large tree with amble shade in the park next door. Okay, I loved this place from the first time I went there. The food is good, the ice cream is great, and it's beautifully situated on the edge of Miligan Park. So, after a full year of hearing everyone rave about Dari-Licious -- and never seeming to find anyone who even knew of Big Dipper -- I did the only thing that a responsible Yelper would do: I rounded up a few pals (including Ross M. and Jacob P.) and embarked on a taste test. We did it totally scientifically. We came up with a list of fairly standard food items that could be found at both (burger, Coney, fries, milkshake). We sent a search party out to each place at the same time, so that the food would be equally hot. We met in a neutral location. And we sampled away! The result: We were unanimous that each item was better at Big Dipper than at Dari-Licious. Dari-Licious was apparently surviving on reputation and low standards, and maybe by the fact that it's on a busier road. But we all agreed that the winning item in each category was the one from Big Dipper. Take a minute to reflect on this. It's not like one of us thought one thing and another thought something else. It's not like DL won in even a single category. And it's not like it was even close. So if you want a burger, fries, a Coney or a milkshake, take a dip in the Big Dipper. The food and ice cream here is generally good, but my wife and I just got the smallest "2 dip" cones in my entire life. The sugar cones were stale. How hard is it to put togerther a respectable ice cream cone? Stay away from the hand dipped ice cream, I guess, is the point of this review. Would have rated higher if not for this poor experience. Yesterday I went to the Big Dipper because it was a hot day and we were wanting shakes. Now i have always enjoyed their ice cream and food, i even worked there 2 summers ago. As i was working there i noticed they had a slight problem with ants and one day i found ants in the carmel and told the manager that was on duty. She said "it happens, just scoop them out" and i did as told and thought nothing of it. The owner and managers are very rude and after working for them, they are not good people to work for either. So yesterday we went to take a trip to the big dipper, i drank about 3/4 of my peanut butter shake and decided i didn't want it anymore. My crazy little sister asked me if she could dump it out and i let her. As she dumped every last drop of the shake onto the ground, we noticed about a centimeter long black speck fall out of the shake which appeared to be a fly or a cricket. It was covered in my shake so we couldn't tell. After that experience, I will no longer be going to the Big Dipper. If i want ice cream, I will happily drive to Lindy Freeze(: read more

All the reviews on this place are spot on. It definitely beats Dari licious. After a day at the park playing disc golf I always stop by here. Most ice creme places I think of the actual food items on the menu as probably going to come out tasting like who knows what but not here. I would suggest trying some of their slushees as well. My only complaint at all would be sometimes the slushees are way too sweet. read more

I'll have to agree with Ethan on this one. The Big Dipper is better both in quality and quantity. But the main reason that people didn't really talk about this place was due to the business closing up a few years back. Now that they are under new ownership, they have come back with a vengeance. GREAT home made Conney sauce made fresh every week. You can actually see the hamburger chunks. Those who like different flavors mixed, on a vanilla ice cream cone you can add a burst of flavor, which comes out as a ribbon on the out side edge on the ice cream. The tenderloins are he greatest I have ever ever ate. All hot food is always made to order. They open in March can't"t wait. read more

Writting a bad review for the big dipper where they were very very very slow today around three o'clock and that is 8/7/14 and I do mean very very very slow really really slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
