Went through the drive thru and they completely boggled my order. I ordered a # 2 w/ pickles mustard and onion only and a coke and a chocolate malt. They forgot my coke and I honked and banged on the glass with no response. I had to go inside to get it and then they didn't apologise. Then I find they have cheese on the burger and ketchup and mustard but no pickles and no onions. Our service by the owner of this establishment was horrible. We were a party of 16. We were willing to separate but then we were seated at opposite ends of the restaurant. We asked to be seated closer bc we had small children and were told no. When we asked her about it she gave many excuses why she could not accommodate us bc of her computer system etc. She also said that lots of people are unhappy with them about it. Ok, so I don't go to Steak and shake for the ambiance, I go there for the $4 meal and a 1/2 Priced Happy Hour Milkshake. Patty's cooked perfectly, grilled bun, whatever you decide you want on it with tasty constantly good fries, 4 Bucks, Yes, That's what I am talking about, a 4 buck meal, friendly staff, food delivered as ordered, Inexpensive and exactly with what I wanted on it. Can't say much more, I like their food when it was twice the price, now that it half the price I eat here twice as often. Consistent, curious, quick and accurate food at a great price from a clean grill. and the Double Dark Chocolate Fudge Milk shake is a deal breaker. So it turns out Steak n Shake has great food, but terrible customer service. We got a very rude waitress. All three members of my party (me and my mom and dad) ordered guacamole pepper jack cheese burgers. When our waitress brought our food out, she set a garlic hamburger down in front of me. I explained that I told her I wanted another guacamole burger and pointed to it on the menu. She then tried to argue with me and told me I didn't. Even if my pointing wasn't accurate, it's a huge red flag to argue with a customer. They need to improve on their customer service. Smh. read more

I've been here multiple times but the only reason I keep coming back is because of the low prices. The food is OK (if they get your order right.) Even if you order a burger with lettuce, tomato, and pickles on it, you still have to specify that you want lettuce, tomato, and pickles or you'll get a hamburger with nothing on it. Plan accordingly if you go to the drive through. I've waited over 20 minutes before with only one car in front of me. When you get to the window don't expect good service. The employees at the window obviously don't care about their jobs. It's a pretty bad experience. A friend of mine would talk about Steak n Shake and I had no idea what it actually was. All I know was it was a burger and milkshake place. When I arrived to Branson on a trip I noticed many of them. I thought it was a fast food place but it's not. The place is very similar to Denny's but in my opinion the food quality is definitely better. My family and I came here for lunch. They wanted to have sushi again, but this was my first time in this part of the country (I'm from California). So I wanted to eat something that wasn't located where I'm from. I think the closest one is in Las Vegas. When we entered, we weren't really greeted and it seem that the wait staff was busy doing something, I don't know what. Just to point out it was not crowded in the restaurant. We were finally seated and we looked over the menu. Originally I was going to share with my sister but when I saw sliders on the menu I had to get an order. My dad ordered a chocolate shake and a burger. My sister got a guacamole burger. For the sliders, you have a choice of how you can have them. I ordered the ketchup and onions, I shared with my mom. The burgers were good. The meat was very tasty. The fries were forgettable, very standard. However, it was a good accompaniment with the burgers. As for the chocolate shake, it was good, not too thick, where you may blow a brain vessel sucking from the straw and not to thin, where it's just like chocolate milk. I would have like to try another one, maybe one of the seasonal ones but my sister and I couldn't agree on the same one, so we decided against getting one. The good: the shake was fantastic. The bad: wife's requested no mayo on burger and I repeated the instruction to make sure it did not get messed up and yet it came with mayo. The server advised us mustard was on the table and we found it so congealed it would not work and even came out of the threads of the cap when squeezed. Checked other tables and the same thing. Tried to get the staff's attention but they all had their backs turned or were to busy conversing so I had to go get them. Went to leave and there was a huge back up at the door and nobody taking money as well. It was not that busy but the staff could not keep up. Our meal today was exceptionally nice and I commend all those working. The staff seemed to work so well together even when it was busy. Our burgers were prepared so nicely with plenty of pickle onion and lettuce. Our waitress (I think she was in training) was always near and took care that our meal was fine as did two others who were quick to remove dishes when finished. The restaurant was very clean. Best meal today there we've ever had. It seemed that everyone there was working more as a team than any other Steak n Shakes. My compliments to manager and the staff! read more

We like Steak & Shake for a quick burger. I like the thin crispy fries. This Steak & Shake did not disappoint. I tried the grilled chicken sandwich this visit and it was good. This wasn't the most friendly Steak & Shake we have been to but the service was expediant and what more can you ask for? People were not rude, just didn't seem to be too thrilled to be at work. We would go back and compared with other meals in Branson this was a good bargain for reliable food. read more

My wife loves the orange freezes, so we try to go to Steak and Shake when we see one during our traveling. We got there around 1:30 thinking we'd miss the lunch crowd. There were 4 groups in front of of us and no hostess to seat folks. The manager came out and yelled at the wait staff to get someone up there to seat people ... He was busy helping the cook staff. We finally were seated. Ordered our freezes and food. Freezes came fast. It took almost 30 minutes to get our simple double cheeseburger or should I say my wife's cheeseburger. We ordered the same thing and they considered it a duplicate and only made one. I sat there for 35 minutes waiting for a cheeseburger ... Watching the hostess station back up, watching customers get up from their table to approach wait staff about at least getting their drinks, listening to orders being brought back because they were wrong. Then had to wait 10 minutes to pay my bill because no one was running the cash register ... This has to be the worst run S&S I've every been at and I've been going to S&S since the 60s read more

I just finished eating Steak and Shake at the Branson, Missouri location. My boyfriend and I both ordered a shake for a total of $10 after a tip, a tip which was not earned. Our waitress was arguing with her co-workers, barking orders, and never checked up on us; when she brought our bill, she simply tossed it onto our table and walked away. Our shakes were sub par at best, but I planned on finishing it while we were on the road. I decided to go to the restroom before we departed while my boyfriend went to pay. I returned to my boyfriend empty handed and our table cleaned. He informed me that our shakes had been taken and the table cleaned by our waitress. I was outraged, as he had just paid full price for two shakes whenever we hadn't even drank one shake collectively. I am very disappointed in the service I received today, and will not be returning for some time. read more

Came here with a group of six people during the half price shakes. Had been traveling and thought a hamburger would be good. They were quite busy but got a seat quickly. Was quite amazed at the different burger selections for the price, I mean $4.00 for a double burger with grilled onions and French fries. My wife ordered the Red Velvet shake and I went with classic Chocolate and it was great. There is a McDonalds next door and for the quality of burger at Steak & Shake compared to what they have is absolutely no comparison. The shoestring potatoes are small, but really is about all the fries I need to eat anyway. We were pleasantly satisfied and a very economical lunch during this time of day. Since we don't have one in the town we live in, I would stop again when in Branson for a late lunch. read more

Avoid this store until the Management is replaced! My family and I tried to eat here tonight! Absolutely horrible! First, we waited 15 minutes to be seated. We ended up cleaning off 4 tables for our group to sit down ourselves. After 45 minutes, food finally came out but it was completely messed up, and missing 5 of 18 meals. One worker came out of the kitchen and actually cussed at my brother while we were trying to formally file a complaint with the manager. The manager (Gary) first agreed to comp the meals for all their admitted mistakes, but then "changed his mind" and forced us to pay for some meals but not all! He refused to give names of supervisors and when I asked him to comp all the meals like he offered, he said he'd call the cops if we didn't pay for 5 of the 18 meals. Which we did pay for and we did tip the waitress (it was not her fault the management was the worst in fast food history). If I owned this franchise location, I would fire Gary and hope the location could be cleaned up and ran correctly. read more

When in Branson with the Grand Munchkins, we tend to gravitate towards Steak 'N Shake...not many places in this touristy town where one can eat a meal without spending a week's worth of grocery money. The wide variety of burgers on the $4.99 menu offer something for everyone's taste. The shakes...some of the best I've ever had. Why only a three star? It seemed a slow night compared to other times we've eaten here, and yet the service seemed to move in slow motion...from start to finish. I get it, the food is freshly prepared, but they're just little steak burgers. One of ours was ordered plain with cheese...it came loaded with veggies and a mixture of mayo and mustard. No, it can't just be wiped off. We were eventually served all of our food and shakes...and finally received our ticket...but not until all those who came in longer after we did placed their orders, received their food and checked out. We'll be back...we love Steak 'N Shake...maybe next time, it'll be back up to the standard we've come to expect. read more

This place was nice at first. We got seated after a few moments and the waitresses seemed very nice. When we got seated we sat there for about 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order/drinks. Our server came over and apologized for the wait, which was nice. After taking our order more and more people came in and were getting their food and drinks before us which was frustrating. When our drinks came out our waitress messed our drinks up and we decided all to just have water. When our food FINALLY came out after 20-30 minutes it looked bland but tasted good, it was warm (not hot) to the touch. We never received any silverware or napkins. Litterally so disappointed. First off you have to order at the door and then seat yourself. If you order a drink than you have to go up and ask the server to give you a refill. The Waiter never showed up again! He only showed up to give us our shakes and then left. Yet he kept checking up on the table behind us. He went and got their food and left it at their table and kept getting them refills. Why? Because they decided to add a tip when they first ordered. I decided to press no tip because I was going to tip CASH. When we were deciding if we were going to tip, a random lady came up and asked if we were going to tip, which we said no. She said she also wasn't going to tip because she had pretty much done everything the waiter was supposed to do. Another thing is that the food portion was a lot smaller. It was already small enough but It has to get smaller. Literally paid for a kids mini corn dogs just to receive like 4 of them. We were literally expecting to be full at the end which didn't even happen. I also heard other people complain about the price. The food arrived in a to go bag, there's no reason to even eat there at that point. You could literally go somewhere else and eat the food. I get that they have to change the way they operate because of COVID but the Menus aren't even CLEANED. They also don't wear masks or gloves, which is the number one thing to do in order to protect yourself and other people. There was literally no reason in even changing the way they operate if they don't even wear a mask! I hope at least the people behind us got a good service. I loved this place. Not too many Steak N Shakes in the Virginia area where I live so when I'm in the midwest we try to go to them. I love their food. Nice portions with a nice price tag. There were several waitresses working there from another country....I couldn't make out the dialect...would say Czech, Serbian or Croatian. I've always loved Steak 'N Shake. The food is great, as well as the service. I highly recommend the Jalepeno Crunch burger (my absolute fav). My only con is the bathrooms. They could've used more maintenance. When I walked in, the trashcan was overflowed with paper towels and the floor surrounding it was covered in used paper towels.
