Ok, so the name is a bit off-putting, but they really go the extra mile for vegans. They ask their vegan customers for tips on what we'd like and how to veganise products, and vegans aren't an afterthought; there are burgers with loads of topping including vegan cheese, as well as vegan specials and AMAZING non-dairy milkshakes. Presentation of dishes and milkshakes is also very impressive. Would definitely recommend if choosing somewhere to go with meat-eating friends and family. The name is the most revolting, off-putting name you could encounter if you're vegan. HOWEVER, rather incredibly for such a crassly-named place, they are really trying with their vegan options. It's like they're all 'we're so sorry vegans, so sorry, we'll make it up to you'.... The result is that there are quite a few items we can have! I had the classic vegan burger and it was pretty good. I mean, this is not healthy food in here, but if you're looking for American style massive burgers, and onion rings the size of a large man's hand, this is the place to go. They have a special section on their menu for vegan shakes, and they have really gone for it! I had the Whiskit Biscuit, with a shot of coffee, and topped with a lotus biscuit. It's pretty spectacular. Since then however, a friend who has been in the kitchen showed me a pic of their grill, and it was disgusting. Plus I think the vegan burgers are cooked on the same grill as the meat - if this puts you off, I'd suggest asking before you order. I might be wrong - please don't take this as gospel, and who knows, they might have given things a good clean since then. I'll not be going back for food until I know they have improved kitchen standards and it's sparkling clean. I noticed this place before going into the CCA and after having a fair amount of drinks and our whole party realising we were starving, we decided to give this place a go and I'm so pleased we did! It was quite late on a Saturday night but they had tables for us, although as there was already another large party in we had to get a little creative with the tables. The staff were amazing! I cannot fault them in the slightest. When I first got there, I asked if they did any sort of birthday sparkly thing, to which he explained they didn't have any candles, but he would run across the road to tesco and get some :) They tried repeatedly to warn us of portion size, but did we listen? No! We were a large table full of mildly drunk, hungry people! We ended up taking away about five boxes of food...mostly fries! I only got a Brochwurt sausage and had some fries. I was a little disappointed with my sausage but it did the job :P Everyone else, especially those that got burgers seemed very happy with them and the fries baskets were out of this world! Milkshakes after drinking at 10:30pm are amazing, and they're were very nice. They even do alcoholic ones, I believe a baileys milkshake was what my friend got and it tasted sublime! Awesome!! We wondered in off the street as we didn't know what we were looking for. The menu was great loads to choose from. I got the pulled pork burger with onions and coleslaw. Delicious! My husband and his friend got the Oh Canada which had maple syrup, bacon and pineapple. Looked monstrous and they finished it! My friend got the burger of the day which was a pastrami burger with an omelette. Looked great! We got a basket of fries between us which was enormous. Sweet potato fries, chilli fries, cheesy fries and Parmesan chilli fries. They were great for 4 people! We couldn't even finished them. Also on the menu was a corn dog and we remember we forgot to try them when we were in America so now was the time!! They were lovely and covered in mustard, really tasty. Definitely go back as I want to try the Oh Canada burger :) and another corn dog! The staff were great, our waitress was lovely and she had loads to tell us about the food and what her favourite was. Went tonight for their menu relaunch to try out the vegan options. Amazing!! There are several vegan options - 3 burgers, salads, sides, a guest pudding and shakes. I went for the China Town burger with the banana vodka shake and shared onion rings, cola beans, sweet potato fries. The portion sizes are massive but thankfully they do takeaway which i'll need to remember for next time! Was too full to try their doughnuts but it sounded lovely had I not eaten so much! The staff were super friendly and I know that they've put a lot of thought into their vegan options. It paid off! If you can see past the name its a seriously lovely venue and you'll not leave hungry!!! read more

I would have to agree with Carolyn E.'s review. What a strange place to wander into. It's terribly uninviting, although the music that was played was great and the patrons were an odd mixture of people who probably just stumbled into the place just as we had. When we first sat down, shame, the girl, who seemed to be the only one working, seemed flustered and it took what felt like ages for us to be served. She didn't seem to know what we were talking about when we ordered the Koppaberg ciders either. Um, hello? Eventually we were given our cutlery baskets - what's the point, just have it on the table already? Where is the efficiency in this?! Eventually our food arrived. As Carolyn has already mentioned there was a distinctly odd oil smell which was a bit of a deterant. As mentioned, I ordered the chicken wrap thing, and although the chicken was lovely and well cooked, the coating left a lot to be desired. I didn't appreciate that the balsamic had been drizzled over the plate and now certain parts of the wrap were covered in it. I didn't touch my salad - it was beyond dry as it only had that balsamic drizzle, and it was definitely a little too wilted for my liking. I actually didn't mind the cheese fries that we ordered. They were hot, they remained like that for a while, and mind you, the portion is HUGE. I enjoyed the cheese (it's probably fake cheese but hey ho) and generally it was pretty pleasant. read more

On this first visit, I'm not really convinced that this place is all that great. Of course it doesn't help that I ordered a chicken burger at a place called "Steak Cattle & Roll", but that wasn't the only issue. Sophie K and I decided on a whim that we would pop in here before heading to Kings Theatre for Derren Brown (swoon!). We'd wanted to check this place out, and figured last night was a good night to just go for it! Upon walking in, we were greeted by a table that looked like it should have been at a swap meet with three piles of menus on it. The decor is very lackluster and was not very inviting. We waited for a bit before being acknowledged and then a bit longer before being seated. We were asked where we wanted to sit, and I jokingly said 'wherever we'll get served'. That may have put the waitress off as the rest of our service with her was less than great. After another wait as the waitress made up baskets and cutlery sets, she finally came back over and took our order. I went for the Deep South Chicken sandwich and Sophie K went for the Southern Chick wrap. Essentially, we ordered the same thing, only mine was on a bun and her's was in a wrap and came with a large side salad (that was very brown and wilted). We also ordered a basket of chips with cheese to share and two ciders. When we asked her what flavours of ciders she had, she barked that all the drinks they had were listed on the menu (which she then pointed at). When I repeated that I wanted to know what flavours, she rattled them off and we ordered. While she was putting in our order on the ipad at our table, Sophie K and I started chatting about the different flavours of cider we preferred just as a bit of random chat and the waitress looked at us and said "Um....ok??" We apologised for trying to include her in our conversation. That was a bit painful. Our food came out faster than we thought it would and the second my sandwich was put anywhere near me, i could just smell the old oil that was used to fry our chicken. The sandwich literally smelled like old oil- you know the smell- like old fish and burnt chips. It wasn't great and turned me off the sandwich all together. The chips were ok- the cheese sauce was ok, but the portion was huge which made for basically a basket of soggy chips with cheese poured over them. A plus- the cider was delicious and affordable, which was good. All in all, our experience wasn't that great and I'm not sure I would want to come back. There was a second girl who came over to take our payment and she was super friendly and engaging and chatted with us about going to Derren Brown and the music concerts she was heading to this week and weekend. Dont pay any heed to the other negative reviews ....these people are either pretentious A-holes, food snobs or work for commpetators My partner and i have been many times and have always felt welcomed and never rushed , the food has always been great HINT: to the veegans .....THE NAME OF THE PLACE IS A GIVE AWAY! STEAK CATTLE & ROLL ...means it sells meat! they have to cater for non meat eaters or would be classed as discriminating! The only two downside's with this place is no ramp for wheelchair access & thier mammoth burger challenge comes with tomato which i and others cannot eat ....so caters for veegans but excludes those with other food aversions, otherwise would have given 5 stsrs read more

Caveat: we were all pretty tipsy by the time we rolled in here. Tip 1: this branch closes later than the Weaver Street branch which I may have mistakenly/drunkenly booked a table at! Food was much needed, and thankfully we got a table for 10 at 9.30pm without a problem. I've not been in any of the other branches, but the menu was about as I expected. For me I ordered the Godfather, a burger with mozzarella and chorizo - a delicious, massive moist patty, with a generous helping of string smooth mozzarella, and overall it was a good tasty burger! I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries which were great, and a very generous portion too. We had ordered, to share across the table, three of their 'mixed fries' (regular, sweet potato, and chilli fries) and despite the waiter saying that was probably enough for all of us, two of us ordered separate sides of sweet potato fries, and there was another portion of regular fries too. Tip 2: listen to your waiter!! The portions are generous and despite our hunger we had over ordered by about 4 portions! All of was really tasty though, the chilli fries coming with a dollop of a nice dry beef chilli (not a sloppy mess) which had a wonderful kick to it! Also worth mentioning that the staff sent someone out to get candles because we had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, brilliant customer service and throughout the meal all the staff were great. Have I had better burgers? But for a chain the food was above what I expected, and if you add on the customer service we received then I was more than happy. Price wise it's a little on the higher side but not shockingly so, with drinks and deserts for some, we averaged about £21 a head. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

Very disappointing restaurant. * Burger was VERY bland (New York deli) * Chicken wrap was cold * Seasoned chips lacked any sort of seasoning * One pint was flat and the other tasted like dish water * Staff VERY poor, sat with dirty plates at the table for 20 minutes, staff were not attentive at all Was not even asked how the food was otherwise I would have brought all these points up. I ordered the steak cattle and roll burger for £10, it arrived half on the plate and half of the burger. It was full of crispy salad with stem still on the lettuce! wasn't nice at all, any way still hungry after so ordered the ribs for another £10 and the portion was decent but that red sauce they put on the top of them was disgusting. It is a pleasure leaving this review here as the last time it was left on Facebook they commented back saying i never even ordered food lol. read more

The food is a joke! I bought a (bare with me here) baked potato & cheese and a mac & cheese to take away as I was running a gig in the ABC that night - the baked potato somehow managed to be both dry and mushy while completely solid on the outside, it seemed to have been baked for so long that the cheese had started to evaporate! The mac & cheese had clearly been threw together in a pot with the most basic ingredients, it was tasteless, mushy and greasy. Completely put off the brand in general and have no intention of visiting any others. read more
