Stead Laundromat is a very small laundromat on the corner of a three unit building that is beyond its time. I do not recommend that anyone use this laundromat, and suggest going to the laundromat in Lemmon Valley or across from the Bonanza on North Virginia Street.
This laundromat was owned previously by the owners of the convenience store next to it. At that time, this laundromat always had broken machines, dryers that turned but did not provide heat, and NO customer service. Now, under the new management, very little has changed. It has bright ceiling lighting that makes the place seem to sparkle for the first moment you set foot indoors, and it also has a few pieces of art work hung high up on the ceiling to offer a few variations of view from the otherwise drab white walls inside. Yet, the machines are old, some of which date back to the 1970s (dryers) and not much investment has been made to improve the place.
In addition, the space surrounding this location is not very encouraging. There is almost no lighting on the streets, and no security or anyone else, really, later in the day or in the evening to provide a sense of security and safety for those patronizing this laundromat.
The one good thing is that with a few dryers, the heat gets really hot, which makes it easy to dry your clothes for one or two quarters max. Specifically, of the older dryers from the 1970s, the one farthest to the left is the best operating dryer there.
Overall, this is just a small, neighborhood laundromat that is unimpressive, and lacks the basics, such as modern machines and anything else besides the basic washers and dryers, to provide for a quality laundry experience. I do not recommend this laundromat for anyone. read more
