First; we had a water damage issue that didn't get handle, we never got reimbursed for our belongings being ruined. Due to their lack of maintenance. 2; we are being kicked out of beinf able to be customers at this StaxUps, reason being...."all the issues we have caused them" mind you we don't talk to anybody or do anything but come and pick up or drop off belongings... DO NOT USE STAXUP! It's all INFESTED by fleas, roaches, spiders, termites, moths and even bed bugs! I've seen all of these but most of all were fleas! It's hard to believe but it's very true. The storage has two side walls that do not reach the top so it allows bugs to fly from one storage unit to another! And their insurance is such a ruse they do not hold any responsibility AT ALL to any damages!! I will tell you what happened to me in TJ and how Stax Up treated me and provide pictures. And they dare said that nobody complains about it, I see about at least 4 very bad, traumatizing Yelp reviews here! I live in Tijuana so I was trying to store my stuff in StaxUp while slowly bringing back stuff to TJ for 3 months. Then I realized in my new fully furnished apartment where I was already staying for 3 weeks became infested. I thought it was the bed that had bed bugs. We called 3 fumigators then it went away but it came back every time I brought back stuff from the storage! I cannot believe this! My landlord even gave me a new mattress, a new headboard, and new box spring and they still got infested as we were bringing the rest of the stuff in! I called the 4th fumigator until it went away. But during that I lost so many things, so much of money, had to throw away even the second mattress, headboard, box spring, threw away my infested luggage bags, slept on the hard floor for weeks, bought so many products to kill these fleas (but I also got a few bed bug bites too), had to launder so many times like crazy, had to MOVE!!! MOVE TO ANOTHER HOUSE WHICH HAD NO FURNITURE! And why do I say it's definitely StaxUp's fault was because when I moved to the new CLEAN apartment and stayed there for a week and brought things slowly from old apartment it was fine, no more fleas. BUT when I brought my one last bag with stuff from StaxUp storage the next week, it infests my new apartment too! Can you believe it?? Life was hell. Man, I came to TJ from California to save money during Corona Virus times but I ended losing so much more! And to make matters worse, Stax Up gave us a form where we could so-called claim by the long haired specky lady from the desk. We painstakingly jot down everything that we have lost which was about $1000 not including having to move to a completely new apartment expenses!! We showed them almost a hundred pictures of the fleas, even termites, our bites, its fecal matter, deposits but they said if I cannot take the picture of the fleas or the deposits SHOWING the storage unit itself, then I can't claim a single thing! HOW CAN I CAPTURE AN EXTREME CLOSE UP PICTURE OF A VERY TINY FLEA ON MY BAG WITH THE STORAGE UNIT BEHIND?? Try and do it now with your camera, you simply can't! All the pictures I managed to capture were fleas or its excrement on fabrics, wood and stuff. I can't tilt it up to show that it's happening in the storage space from StaxUp. It's completely impossible to do! Try and zoom in on your phone of a tiny miniscule bug, trying to make it seen clearly, while capturing in the background of the storage unit! Impossible! And a lot of things were happening at home too to the things we have lost too. You pay $10 more for so called insurance but read the fine not-so fine print, trying to use newfangled jargon words to confuse you but basically it does say it will not take any responsibility of any kind of damages and I think including damages done by bugs too (trust me guys, moths everywhere the moment you enter the place). They asked me why did I not complain sooner. I said because I thought it was my new place that was infested but later on I realized it was StaxUp that was infested. A place so high advanced as America and as clean and proper as San Diego shouldn't have and cause health problems to people in their business storage unit cos it could spread EVERYWHERE!! First off I got a storage unit here that was broken into and they didn't tell me about it until a week later and second through our stay. They are open until 6 PM every evening and I showed up before 6 o'clock and they had a paper on the office door saying they close at 5 PM which wasted my time, gas, and money. I don't recommend the storage place and if you use that you're putting your items are at risk and they are also the worst people that communication. read more

UPDATED IN RESPONSE TO THE FACILITIES' DISMISSAL OF MY REVIEW. Of course the facility will claim no responsibility for rodents, even though I have seen other reviews mention rodent activity there! (Both on Google and both within the last year. See attached pictures!) However I did mention the fact that there were live mice (still crawling on my belongings) in the boxes that I'd left on the property when I moved out. Which was why I refused to pay any additional fee's. Secondly, how DARE YOU imply that I was storing "very dirty" items in my unit. The reason I am posting the review now instead of over 6 months ago the way I SHOULD HAVE is that when I attempted to file a claim with my insurance company I was told to wait since my belongings were transferred to a different storage facility and I wouldn't know the extent of the damage until I took my belongings (HOUSEHOLD GOODS. Never had any problem with mice in my home so unless there was an obvious infestation at your facility my items shouldn't have been disturbed) to their final destination. Otherwise I wouldn't have paid DOUBLE at a new facility to store my belongings the final 6 months before moving in to my new place. As mentioned in my review (if you actually took the time to read it) only part of my belongings were disturbed and damaged at that time. Mainly my clothes which were actually hung in the unit to save box space. Hindsight is 20/20. If I'd known then that even our meticulous inspection of my boxes and belongings to ensure that we didn't take any of YOUR disgusting mice to the new facility wouldn't matter unless we took the time then to CLEAN all the urine off boxes and furniture as well (not possible with the time constraint) I most definitely would have started proceedings not only to file a claim immediately, but documented all of the live rodent activity. Such as the mouse that clung to my Pea Coat for dear life no matter how hard I hit the coat. Or the 2 mice living in my artificial tree, or even the 4 mice having a grand ol' time in an open box containing paint supplies. Trust me I would have BLASTED your facility to the news if need be, however I was told to "wait". NEVER having encountered this issue before (and I have had my belongings in storage for 2 years in the past) I followed instructions. Now I wish I hadn't. However as mentioned I had 3 other individuals with me on move out who would gladly attest to my account of what happened! read more

I would strongly advise anyone AGAINST using this storage place. Over the last 13 years, I have been robbed multiple times due to the complete lack of security measures in place. Just TODAY! And last week, I was robbed twice, along with many others. The fence surrounding the facility is flimsy and with holes making it easily breached, making it an easy target for thieves. It's clear that the overall company of this storage place does not care about the safety and security of its customers' belongings. The staff at the place was nice and helpful when filing complaints. I found StaxUP online and reserved a spot. When I got there with my trailer, the folks in the office told me that I had reserved my spot through a third party, not directly with them, and that they had no places available. Turns out StaxUP has an agreement with the third party, but sometimes what corporate (i.e., executives) sets up doesn't always filter down to the folks at the front desk. That's a problem, because apparently there's usually a waiting list for spots that I didn't know about. Still, the guys in the office found a spot for my trailer and let me check in. I commend the front-desk staff for working things out with me, despite the misunderstanding. And the price can't be beat. $90 a month to park my trailer. My guess is prices go down the closer you get to the border. But that's fine with me. We just picked up our trailer and it's just as we found it. Kudos to the office staff at StaxUp in San Ysidro. read more

I was lured in by the free month. You pay for the month your in, I believe mine was 9/6, and was told I was paid through Nov 1st but was sent a lien notice in mid October, including late fees and lien fees. I called to speak to the manager she is never there and never available and refuses to call back. When I signed my agreement I asked them to make my payment serve as my notice to move because.I didn't think I'd need it two months. Well through their extortion tactics (pay or lose your stuff) I paid but asked to see the manager again, but again no manager, and no call back. I've called there and nobody will answer at all. After having my belongings in a unit at this facility for an extended length of time I was able to move out and begin unpacking. To my surprise many of my professionally packed and moved items were chewed up by rats! The belongings were chewed up inside the boxes as well as out. The wrapping paper was shredded and important documents destroyed. When boxes were picked up the bottoms fell out due to rodent activity. There were giant roaches and rodent droppings everywhere. There were multiple chew marks on furniture and picture frames. Do not use this facility if you value your belongings! read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE I will NEVER, NEVER,NEVER, EVER do business with STAXUP STORAGE again. After they acknowledged that I had given notice taking effect February 28, they still refused to REFUND the autopay they took for March claiming they could not find the deducted amount in their system, therefore they could not refund it. Who collects money from customers and then has no record of having collected that money. After this they also sent me invoice for March even though we were agreeing that I had cancelled effective February 2018. Then they sent me a snapshot of my account where they had charged me late fees on an amount that was overpaid. Late charges assessed on the same day they claimed to finally have found my transaction and processed my refund. I have never been charged LATE FEES on an OVERPAYMENT EVER in my life before. I found the people in the office not only be be hard to work with on these issues, but whenever I went into the office in the past too. It took me MANY HOURS and much FRUSTRATION getting this mess sorted out. I am DISGUSTED with this company and will NEVER do BUSINESS with them EVER AGAIN. read more

Can you say cross border smuggling? Lots of shady activities are run out of this place!! They facilitate these illegal activities!! The place itself is very rundown. Barely swept clean if that at all. All the doors are broken open. Lots of burglaries!! The walls are only drywall, so its quite easy to break into any unit. Never seen such a cheap storage facility like this in my life. If you want to use the elevators, bring ear protection, they squeal so loud your ears will be ringing for days!! No joke. Also they like to extort extra money out of you with fake late fees, insurance and they raise your rent all the time. And if you stay more than 30mins they put a boot on your car wheel, then you have to walk all the way back to their office and complaint like hell. One day I found someone put a lock on my door above mine, went to the office, than they wanted to charge me to cut if off. I said no tanks, I'll get my own angle grinder and cut if off. No customer service they just want to charge, charge, charge and they will just take it on to your autopay without even telling you!!!!! And the manager is never there and never responds!!! Okay, so it's not a shiny new building with finished walls and air conditioning, but it's no worse than most people's garages!! It works, and for what we use it for it works GREAT. A super value, right off the freeway & close to the trolley, and an extra special bonus is the BEST front desk representative I have EVER worked with in over 20 storage experiences with Uhaul, ExtraSpace, Public Storage, & others. Laura (I think that's how it's spelled) was quick, efficient, bright, and so sweet & personable. Not something you normally see at self storage, but you can tell she loves the public, helping people, and solving problems! Bi-lingual too if u need it! You know someone has people skills when she can deliver bad news, but still come across like she cares. They honored a 50% deal when I upgraded to an elevator accessed unit. That was the only downside overall with the facility, as they offer 10 x 10 units or bigger on the second floor with only stair access and don't mention it in the units description. I emailed and uncovered it as part of my pre-arrival contact. They may want to disclose that up-front in the rates/sizes online selection. So I had to give $10-15 more a month to get the elevator building as I was filling up a 10 x 10 with more stuff than I would have wanted to walk up and down stairs with (ceilings are high too)! They minimized the bad news by transferring the online discount I had gotten in the original reservation. They didn't hesitate. I like that front-line decision making and not having to go thru a lot of management levels!!!! I'd give them a 4.5 rating overall for the lack of elevators for some of their units, but Laura was worth pushing it to a full 5!!!!!! read more
