Side Salad and The Burger Dinner
    Tamiko D.

I am a couple weeks late on this review so forgive me for not remembering everything. My family and I went to stations 16 as my last brunch before I moved. We had our reservation for seven at their opening time so we could get in early and avoid a crowd. We have been here before a central downtown location with a parking lot across the street and ample street parking. We always come early so it's never crowded but we always have excellent service. We all got bottomless mimosas (except for the kids of course) and ordered everything from breakfast to dinner items. My husband and brother also got espresso martinis which they both said were very good (my husband has had espresso martinis at Starbucks reserve in Seattle so I would say him saying it's good is a positive). Now while I can't remember what everyone ordered there were no complaints. Pictures are attached I'll title what I recall but when I visit family back in Sacramento this will definitely be our brunch spot.

Came here after a softball tournament, and our party of 6 was seated promptly. It was relatively empty but the restaurant was short staffed and man was it running slow. Our server was great and extremely apologetic for the long wait times for drinks and food. She was actually a shining star! The food was actually tasty and that's what bumped this up to a 4 star review. Street metered parking only.

Since we needed to head up to Sacramento, my wife was looking for a place that took reservations on Easter Sunday. Fortunately, we were able to book a table for eight . Receded almost immediately at the table enough for all of us. The restaurant was large enough and inviting, and even though the bar was close by, he didn't really notice it Our server was Vyna who is on top of it the whole time. She tended to her needs constantly without being too intrusive. She also was very helpful and patient with us as we tried to decide on the menu. Also, just say we all enjoyed what we ordered. We started off with calamari and artichoke dip if we had to pick we'd choose a calamari, although the artichoke dip was good also We ordered the Big Trinity with the garlic butter, which was flavorful with a hint of sweetness. It came with two lobsters, two Dungeness crabs and a bunch of prawns i'd easily fed three people. Also ordered the small mix, which was more than enough for two people. This one came with Dungeness crab and prawns with a collision flavor. Also ordered with the pan, seared scallops which were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing . The lobster roll was ordered from someone from Main and she was quite impressed. Oh, and I forgot the garlic noodles. Some of the best I've had in a while. We didn't have enough room for dessert, but would definitely come back

It was our anniversary, so we decided to check out Station 16, which was new to us. Our bartender/server was very friendly and makes a great old fashioned (they do one of those smoky ones. Pretty and lots of drama. Gotta do it once.). Excellent food -- I had a side of the garlic noodles (YUM!) and the mussels starter (also delicious). Plenty of food. My husband had the scallops and also ordered a side of garlic noodles. Between the two of us, we had plenty of noodles to take home for lunch. We ordered the apple pie to split for dessert, which was epic! The ambience is great -- loved the bar and backbar. The seating in the bar and in the dining room is very comfortable. The only downside was that the dishes came out whenever the kitchen decided to do so. We didn't have our entrees at the same time, and the sides came out whenever. Made for a haphazard meal. The happy hour menu looks fun, and we've discussed going back to try it.

I've been here a couple of times and I've never had a bad meal! This seafood stew (I think that's what it's called) was amazing and packed with meat and flavor. On Monday they have all day happy hour and $2 oysters, you can't beat that! One note though the service is a little slow if you aren't sitting at the bar, even on a slow night so if you're in a rush and hungry just sit at the bar.

Our server and the staff were lovely. Very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. We ordered the lobster mac, blackened salmon, Vietnamese coffee, and calamari. Vietnamese coffee was delicious 4/5 . Sweet & creamy. A bit pricey for what u get tho - the cup was 1/3 ice. Calamari was quite mid 2/5. chewy and the sauces on the side weren't great. Lobster Mac was solid. 4/5 Very cheesy, stringy, rich. Good flavor. Not much lobster but what do you expect. Blackened salmon 2/5 .... Wasn't blackened at all see pic ?? And it was barely seasoned. The side vegetables were good. But why is there just a huge ungodly pile of rice lobbed on the side LOL. the flower couldn't save that plating job. The aioli was the same sauce used for the calamari. Doesn't taste good. Tastes premade. Overall the actually experience was lovely but The food was subpar. I personally would not come back. It's just a bit pricy and the quality isn't great.

Had dinner here while I was in town for a conference and wanted to support a local business. Honestly it was a rough start because the host had an attitude though our group was a little late for our reservation. We were there on a Monday and they have happy hour all day which was a surprise and I ordered a margarita which was tasty. I also ordered oysters and the tuna poke nachos which were enough to get me full. Others ordered the fried calamari and the platter, which they enjoyed.

Had a graduation dinner at this location before the permanent closure on 16th Street and overall, it was a solid experience. We came during happy hour, which was a nice perk. $2 oysters and a discount on the calamari helped ease the bill a bit. The oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious, and the calamari was perfectly fried, crispy, and paired well with the sauce it came with. Service was friendly and accommodating, especially for a larger group, though the wait time for food and drink refills could've been a bit quicker. I ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, and while the plate was flavorful, I ended up taking most of it home. They don't carry standard steak sauces like A1 and instead offer a house-made version that tasted more like a vinaigrette, not quite what I was expecting. The vibe was nice, and it wasn't too busy for the day of the week, which made for a more relaxed atmosphere. One thing to note, there is an automatic gratuity for large parties, and while the food and drinks were great, the service didn't fully reflect the added tip. Because of that, I'd probably return with a smaller group next time

Went here for an office holiday dinner, and it was a great experience overall! We booked a reservation online, and when we arrived, they had a nice seating spot ready for us. Our server was friendly but seemed like she might've been new to the job. The food took a little while, but everything was delicious! We got lucky and came during happy hour, so all the appetizers were discounted, which was a nice bonus. Here's what we tried: - Shrimp ceviche: fresh and flavorful, but the portion was on the small side. - Calamari: warm, crispy, and perfectly cooked. - Cajun Garlic Fries: crispy with a good kick, not overly oily. - Cajun Pasta: Loved this one! It had a decent amount of sausage, and the sauce was amazing!! - Lava Cake: the filling wasn't very runny, and the texture was a bit chalky. But the vanilla ice cream on top was good. - Shrimp Crostini: nice flavor but too crunchy. - Apple Pie: warm and delicious. - The Pan-Seared Scallops and Shrimp Scampi were both hits, and while the skillets were good, they were a bit messy.

We stopped by this Saturday and overall had a good dining experience. My salad was seriously delicious and the scallops were cooked to perfection. My one complaint is the sheer amount of salt on the proteins of all three dishes. Both shrimp dishes and the scallops were hard to get through if you didn't pair your bite with a side. We're not the type to complain so we just ate slowly. Other than that, everything was great!

Came here for the first time for a work holiday dinner and was excited because I love good seafood! We got some starters and happened to have gone during their happy hour where they have $4 off apps. The ceviche wasn't the best because it seemed super overpriced for what we got. It had maybe 5 tiny pieces of shrimp. I got the cajun pasta for my main entree because it was highly recommended and I requested extra prawns. The portion was amazing and came with so much sausage. It has a bit of a spicy kick but not too overwhelming. Lastly, for dessert I got to try the apple pie and it was amazing! 10/10. Service was pretty good. Our waitress was friendly and super helpful with questions and checking up on us frequently. The place was nicely decorated for the holidays and had a nice vibe, but I would say the bathroom could have been a bit more clean. Street parking only I believe but I didn't have trouble finding any on a Friday night. I would definitely come back to try the other dishes like the skillets and maybe even check out the new elk grove location!

Went here for brunch and also just as great! I had the Benedict with crab and my friend got the platter and had bottomless mimosas :)

The Instagram marketing for this restaurant is well done. That is what drew us to the restaurant in the first place. The service started out good but then it's as if our server completely forgot about us. We had to get up out of our seats multiple times to ask for water refills, parmesean cheese and our bill. The Cajun pasta was very salty but otherwise good portion size and flavor. The chicken Alfredo had a nice buttery flavor but could have been a little better. Overall not a bad experience but was expecting something a little more epic from a downtown restaurant with such great real estate and space inside!!

I remember from the video they said this was considered a "bartenders bar",the kind of spot that that bartenders and workers in the industry would hangout after their shifts-I liked the sound of that. Walking up to where I thought the bar was located,it was kinda funny because it was just an innocent looking blue door with the words "Cocktail" along the side-doesn't look like much at all,I'd imagine I've walked by this place many times without thinking of ever going in-that was changing this time. The restaurant is quite small inside with very limited seating, but the outdoor patio is beautiful. Be ready to likely sit outside, but enjoy the atmosphere. We started with the mezcal old fashioned and the cucumber jalapeño margarita. The mezcal old fashioned was a delicious smoky twist on the classic cocktail. The cucumber jalapeño margarita was refreshing, though a little sweeter than I expected and missing the spicy kick I was hoping for. The guacamole was fresh and tasty, but the portion was quite small and barely enough for two people in my opinion. The salsa was also small but it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken tacos were excellent, with tender chicken that was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The enmoladas were also fantastic and are a great way to sample Oaxaca's three unique mole sauces, each with its own distinct character. One thing to note is that the chicken filling is intentionally prepared very simply in traditional Oaxacan cuisine so that the mole remains the star of the dish. If you prefer heavily seasoned meat, this dish may be milder than what you are used to. Overall, everything we tried was delicious and offered a wonderful taste of authentic Oaxacan flavors. Our meal for two included one cocktail each, chips and guacamole, three chicken tacos, and three enmoladas, and came to about $100 with tip.

I have very mixed feeling about this place. I wanted to like it more... and if half stars are…read moreallowed, I'd give it 3.5 stars instead of 4... but I'll round up. NOT THE FOOD: - no parking lot; only street parking. I went for a very early dinner (a little before 5p) so no problem with parking. Street parking was free as well (not metered). - the decor inside is very nice and in keeping with the type of food that's served. yay. - the inside seating area is fairly small... there's only 4 or so 4-top tables & a bar that seats 8 or so? There seems to be a lot more seating outside though. - Our server was nice and patient as we took some time to look over the menu. SORT OF ABOUT THE FOOD: - They have a happy hour menu Mon-Fri 3p-6p; check out the other Yelp pics bc I didn't snap a pic myself. - The entrees don't come with rice & beans nor anything else. what you see on the menu is what you get. as such, the entrees are not terribly filling. they really should just slop on some rice & beans so they can be sure that you leave feeling full. THE FOOD AND DRINK: - Classic Mezcal Margarita: this was a fine, properly made cocktail. None of that nasty "margarita mix" here. $9 on happy hour. woo! - Guacamole: umm.. disappointing... rather bland; though, not diluted with sour cream or anything like that.. just kinda tasted like mashed up avocados.. there was a sprinkling of some red powder on top that I couldn't taste.. I didn't taste teh mint, basil, nor jalapeno that's described on the menu. It also came out refrigerator-cold, so that kinda muted the flavors as well. But I let it sit out throughout my meal to try it after it had "warmed" up a bit, but alas... still bland.. it was served with some salsa as well, which was quite nice. - Enmoladas: this is a trio of chicken enchiladas with each of their 3 moles: red, yellow, and black. The red and black mole were great; the yellow was kinda bland (at least, in comparison). Unfortunately, the chicken in my enchiladas was super bland. It tasted like there was zero seasoning & that they just poached it? And, the pieces of chicken were pretty thick too, which accentuated the blandness... so, I kinda mashed it up as I went along so I could get that delicious mole flavor mixed in with the chicken. - Tlayuda: this is kinda like tostada. it was okay. not great; not terrible. just fine. it ate kinda dry... like it needed some sauce... and, some spice would've been nice as well. this one will not really fill you up; it's more of an appetizer. - Kid's cheese quesadilla: this thing is pretty small; it uses the same tortillas as the tacos, so it's not very big/filling at all, but at least it comes with beans and rice. so, while I loved the margarita and the mole, there was a fair amount of disappointment along the way. perhaps, I'll stop by again if I'm in the neighborhood & would like a nice mezcal or tequila-based cocktail and a small bite to eat, but I'll think twice about having a full dinner.

So the wifey and I are day drinking our way thru Oak Park on this particular Saturday and as we…read morewere kinda walking aimlessly after a few beers at a local brewery-we ran across this simple unassuming door with the name The Butterscotch Den written across it-it's kinda crazy because I had no idea where this bar was and for sure didn't know it was in Oak Park-I couldn't have been happier as this bar has been high on my must visit list for months. When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.
