First time experiencing the R&B brunch at The Midway and it won't be my last. We had a great time. Every song the DJ played was good and we sang our hearts out! I like the whole setup - the bar is the focus in the center, with plenty of seating all around and outside. There's enough room for people to dance and a cute photo op. The weather was perfect, the vibes were flowing, and the staff were helpful despite being super busy. The drinks were good and the catfish and grits was solid. Parking was easy to find nearby.

I can't believe I have been working next to this amazing restaurant for two years and it's the first time my coworkers took me. Asian American fusion! More like Asian American perfection. Gorgeous setting, photo wall for pictures, central bar, seating all around, clean bathrooms. I didn't get our servers name, but I wish I had. It was a gentlemen who had a great smile. I told him how amazing the food was though! I tried the lumpia, it was an excellent price 6 for $12. My bestie had the bulgogi fried. Taste was fire Definitely my new absolute favorite place in the area!

The venue is decent, its not a very big space though. It was clean and the staff was pretty koo. The vibes was on point but the food was mid. I ordered the fish and grits, the grits were good and I enjoyed them. However, the fish was a bit salty. I would return for the drinks and party.

WHY WE WENT HERE: - Jukebox R&B Brunch THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located on the corner of 3rd St and D St (train tracks in between The Midway and D St) - mainly street parking where you can find it (be sure to read the street signs!) and walk over - outdoor patio seating available with partial shade THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - bar/pub vibes; on one side is the accent wall to take pictures; that's also where the dance floor is; on the other side is the "less traffic" side that leads straight to the two 1-person restrooms - full bar, seating available all around it THE MENU: *** the Jukebox R&B Brunch menu is DIFFERENT than The Midway menu - Jukebox R&B Brunch - drink menu WHAT WE ORDERED: - French toast - 3 whole wings - cheesy gritz - Champagne Papi - watermelon Red Bull margarita THE TASTE: - French toast - it was OK, not the best but not the worst - 3 whole wings - jumbo sized, crispy outside juicy inside, seasoned nicely - cheesy gritz - texture was good, interesting the cheese was a topping and not necessarily incorporated - Champagne Papi - various juices we got were orange, pineapple, and guava - watermelon Red Bull margarita - tastes like a Jolly Rancher CUSTOMER SERVICE: - security was a bit serious upon entry, but also gives you angle options when you ask him to take your picture against the accent wall - server was super bubbly and friendly OVERALL: - you're moreso here for the music and the vibes than the food; it's like a casual day party/club with food

My friend and I went yesterday to watch the 49ers game. As my favorite place to watch games closed down (RIP Public House) I searched for a new Spirts Bar, midway did not disappoint. They have a ton of tv's visa le from any of the seating areas. They are right next to the train tracks and do train shot specials anytime a train passes by lol. We had to do it. The bartender Nick was a one man show, and took care of the whole restaurant not just the bar. It was remarkably empty for a sports bar on a Sunday. They have a daily happy hour from 3-7pm daily which is awesome. I wish they had cider on draft as I don't really drink beer but the can of Imperial Cider hit the spot. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary and it was tasty. We wanted to try a little bit of everything as it was our first time here. The chicken wings were flavorful but very over cooked, I had asked for them extra crispy but they should still be juicy. The chicken lumpia were delicious I could have eaten 2 more orders by myself. The garlic Noodles were really good though a bit sweet for my taste, I would recommend cutting the sugar down a bit. Nick was very hospital me and a hard worker. We'll definitely rely be back but I would recommend opening at 10am on Sundays during football season, I'm sure more people would come if they could watch the morning games there.

Chill spot, good music, open space, great server/bartender. Came in with a few friends, wasn't too busy around 5p during the week. Food Items: Spicy Drunken Noodles (Tofu): 4.2/5 - Pretty tasty, nice kick honestly. Tofu was done right, decent portion, decent price. The noodles closely resembled pad thai noodles vs the flat wide noodles - Friend agreed with the above, shrimp was nicely prepped. Classic burger: 4.1/5 - Friend said it was good. No complaints. Old Fashion: 4.5/5 - tasty. Not watered down, mixed/prepped nice and strong. Local bar, first time visiting. Would def recommend and will return.

We've always loved frequenting Midway, so choosing it for my husband's 50th was an easy decision--and it did not disappoint. The location is perfect, the food is amazing, and the bar staff truly goes above and beyond. It's such a cute venue for a party as well. Vana is incredible to work with and will make sure your event turns out exactly how you envision it. Highly recommend!

This is my new favorite bar! I've been here a couple times now and the pho is so good! Love that they serve this in a bar. I come here to grab a few drinks and get a pho to go to cure my hangover the next day. This place soothes my soul in so many ways haha. Service has always been great. Def can't wait to come back and try other food items.

Bo Ne! Sizzling skillet with beef and eggs served with bread. Yum!

It is a very casual setup, so do not expect an elevated dining experience. We ordered the FOB shrimp and the Chicken Katsu plate. The shrimp arrived a bit too sour and noticeably greasy for my taste. The Chicken Katsu was average and lacked the flavor and crispness I was hoping for. The macaroni and cheese that came with it was also quite dry, which made the plate feel incomplete. Service is minimal since you order at the counter and pick up your food yourself. I went in with high expectations and left feeling disappointed, especially considering how popular the place seems to be. That said, I am still open to giving it another try. There are a few other dishes on the menu that look promising, and I hope they will deliver a better impression on my next visit.

Honestly, I'm so…read moresad it's been so long since my last visit, because this place serves up some amazing food. The menu changes depending on what they're making, but they have certain items that are pretty consistent. One of those is poke. I LOVE their poke here, they have their own seasoned poke mix with fresh fish, veggies and sauce and it is delicious. They offer it as nachos, a bowl, or loaded fries and while I'm tempted to try some of the other options the bowl is my go-to. The poke bowl is $15 and comes with rice with furikake as well as a good portion of poke. Like I mentioned, it's preseasoned and it delicious. The ingredients are fresh and I love their flavor combination. I would love if the bowl came with a scoop of mac salad, but with the portion at this price I'm happy to add it as a side. I ordered the spring rolls ($4) and it came with five pieces of crispy and flavorful fried spring rolls. Great value for the price. I also ordered the pork laulau ($14) and Musubi ($3) for my husband and the portions on these were also great. The musubi was hot and flavorful and they gave me some FOB sauce with the musubi that went surprising well together. The laulau plate had mac salad, rice, and the wrapped pork. The pork was fattier than some of the laulau I've had in Hawaii, but was flavorful and the whole plate was a perfect portion for the price. The team working here was very friendly and helped me get in and out with my to-go order pretty quickly. The food was packed with care and made it home and was still nice and hot after the drive. They use high quality to-go containers and line them with aluminum foil which is a nice touch. They also made sure the vents were open on the spring rolls so they'd stay crispy. They have plenty of seating inside, as well as some outdoor seating. This restaurant is a bit tucked away, but has plenty of parking. I will definitely be back, and I won't wait as long between visits, because the food is so good! Check out their instagram for specials.

The restaurant is super cute and has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and shaded which is perfect for warmer Sacramento months. They have a variety of menu items including a build your own bowl opton, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, loaded fries, musubi and an udon special. I ended up ordering the Umami Udon with special chicken as my protein ($13.50), a Build Your Own Bowl with fried rice, katsu chicken, the triple katsu sauce, and stir fried veggies with "The Works" ($16.50), and Musubi ($8.75). The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. I'll definitely be back again soon, and while I want to explore more of the menu the umami udon is happening again!

I don't always know what to order at new places - so I liked that they had signs for specials as well as "favorites." We ordered the Rice with Teriyaki Chicken, Oliver's Favorite which was Spam Musubi and Spam and Bacon Fried Rice and Mom and Dad's Forbidden Feast. Everything looked and tasted really good! Obviously, it would have been much better had we actually eaten in the restaurant, but still no complaints once we got it home. Spam Musubi is one of my favorite things to eat so I could have downed like 5 of them! Portions were huge too - they even have a 100 year old teriyaki recipe! Overall, I would definitely come back and try other items! Staff were also very friendly, personable and gave great recommendations! Check them out!

That makes sense to why the drinks were quite stiff. I understand why many of the older guests chose to sit outside on the patio, where it was much quieter. Danielle was wonderful. Even though she was handling a large party, she remained attentive and checked on us regularly. Food-wise, it fell short for my Asian taste buds, which tend to prefer bolder and more layered flavors. For starters, we had the tartare, which was enjoyable and very flavorful. For the main entrées, we had the beef carpaccio, but it unfortunately missed the mark. The vegetables on top were visually appealing, but flavor-wise it lacked depth. It needed extra mint or perhaps to be wrapped in a sesame leaf to give it more bite and contrast. Next, we tried the lion meatball with veggie fried rice. The meatball was dry and had a grainy texture. It needed more fat in the blend for better richness. Pairing it with a baguette or even a savory donut stick would have added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I'm usually not a fried rice person, but I kept eating it because it was the only dish I genuinely enjoyed and found well-seasoned. It wasn't the traditional wok-hei style fried rice; instead, it tasted fresher and lighter. I understand and appreciate the direction of the flavors and dishes, as they seem intentionally designed to be more subtle, calming, and approachable for American palates. However, from my perspective and personal preference as someone who enjoys stronger Asian flavors, it lacked the "wow" factor I was hoping for.
