Luna Flooring - Broken floor

The installation team was timely and prepared to fix unforeseen issues that arose. Of the 3 rooms we had refloored with laminate, two are satisfactory. The hall has a bit of bounce to it. Reaching someone to have this checked has taken 5 attempts, but will hopefully be fixed this week.

Review of Empire Today / Luna Carpet Services:…read more I originally booked with Empire Today, but they told me they were too busy and passed my project off to their "sister company," Luna, without much explanation. I went along with it, and we scheduled carpet replacement for our staircase -- about 26 steps total. They told me the job would be done in three stages: one day for installation, one for binding, and one for a final check. No specific time slot was given, and instead, I was woken up at 7:00 AM by a call from the installer saying he was already in my driveway. He came in, did only six of the 26 stairs, then abruptly said he was finished and left -- leaving a large, uncut piece of carpet on the bottom floor. When I moved the carpet, I discovered a hole in the floor that had been covered up. I immediately tried to contact Luna, but was told I'd have to wait "24 business hours" -- which somehow means three days -- to get any response. No one answers their phone, and even Empire can't get through to Luna when they try on my behalf. It's been over 24 hours, and I still have a hole in my floor and only a quarter of the job completed. I even texted the installer directly to ask what happened with the stairs. He replied saying he didn't do it. I then told him I was just going to call Luna, and only then did he reply saying he would come back to fix it -- but I haven't seen him since. Empire has been no help, and Luna seems totally unreachable. At this point, I feel completely scammed. I want a full refund. This experience has been frustrating, unprofessional, and unacceptable.

My experience with Next Day Floors was excellent. Cindy the Consultant. assisted me…read moreenthusiastically; with selecting the right type of flooring that I was interested in, such as the color, scratch and water resistance. The installers Adam and John were great too! They were very pleasant and professional from the scheduled time they arrived until completing the job in one day (3 rooms and hallway). I observed these guys putting their full attention into removing the old floor and installing the new flooring. Adam the supervisor, did not hesitate to address the concerns that I had throughout the day. The guys did the cutting of the tile and quarter round in detail with no errors. Also, after pulling out the stove and refrigerator, Adam allowed me the opportunity to wash down the walls behind the stove and refrigerator, while he worked in another area. At the end of their day, they cleaned all inside and outside areas that they worked in. My floors looks so nice, and I am totally proud of them. I definitely will purchase floors from Next Day Floors again when I'm ready to install new floors for the upstairs.

We decided on a super plush carpet and an 8lb. padding for two of our floors at 50% off and had the third floor completely sanded and refinished. The carpet installers and the floor refinishing teams were impeccable to say the least. They were extremely professional and extremely talented. These men get an A++ My floors are absolutely gorgeous and smooth like butter! The management team, warehouse associates, and schedulers were on their game and super professional. Perfect business name to fit an extraordinary business!…read more My husband and I have been getting all of our floorings completed by this company for the past 20+ years and there's no way we would ever stop! This company is very very professional, talented, time conscious, and customer service oriented! The quality of the carpets & flooring that they advertise and use in their showroom and residences/ businesses are of amazing quality! The knowledge base of the owner (E Rome) as well as his employees is unbelievable! We've had carpet and hard wood flooring in our house from this company for over 20+ years as I previously stated, and the workmanship and quality stands the test of time! Keep up the fantastic work A Plus as you are truly a flooring genius and the best to ever do it !!

P.S. In June 2023 I hired D B Genesis to reinstall the hardwood floors and some of the steps. They…read moredid a neat and professional job. There were no gaps between the boards evident. Subsequently I filed a claim with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission against its Guaranty Fund. The fund was set up to compensate homeowners who hire licensed contractors who either fail to complete a job or do it in an "unworkmanlike" manner. After a very long drawn out process, the MHIC opined that the multitude of gaps "were not significant enough to render the installation unworkmanlike." Prefinished hardwood flooring is an interlocking tongue-and-groove system and it is certainly not good workmanship to install the boards with clearly visible separations. This contractor left more than 50 open joints between the boards, significant gaps between boards and stair rails and installed steps with stair noses that were not level and that creaked shortly after installation. This was certainly an unworkmanlike installation. (I guess that tells you what a license from the MHIC is worth.) What matters, however, is not my opinion or the MHIC's but whether you would be pleased if this contractor did such fine work in your home. This contractor has cost me time, money and a lot of aggravation with his threats of legal action, lies and refusal to accept responsibility. He continues to lie about conditions in my home alleging that I do not operate my HVAC leading to wildly fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels, causing the multitude of gaps. Don't be fooled. He is just lying to shift blame for the shoddy work of his subcontractor to me, the homeowner. BTW he's also lying about offering to replace the flooring at cost. P.P.S. As I have stated before the "official unbiased inspection report" Eric is referring to falsely stated there were no separations visible in the floor either from a stand up position or under 10x magnification and thus, concludes there were no installation problems. So I guess those are all imaginary gaps Eric's subcontractor filled in with wood putty. The MHIC a scam?? I would not put it that way but certainly they did not have much sympathy for me as a homeowner harmed by a licensed contractor. They seemed much more concerned about protecting the Guaranty fund from claims, even legitimate ones. Sometimes the system does not deliver justice. In any case, a license from the MHIC is clearly not a guarantee against shoddy workmanship.
