Danzco was recommended by a good friend, who I know would only except perfection. Dan, the owner,…read morecame to do an estimate. He seemed like a straight up guy. I was quoted a fair price that was consistent with my other 2 estimates. The estimate included hardwood floors in my family room, on my steps, and in the upstairs hallway. Also, they would put on baseboard and shoe molding, sand and seal the floors, and then apply 2 coats of oil based polyurethane. I was away on vacation when the men came to do the work. When I came home (late Saturday evening) I was appalled at the sloppy job that was done. I immediately called Dan and left him a text message. He came out Monday morning. He seemed pretty upset about the work that was done. He said he would come back and fix everything. The following problems needed to be fix: 1. the baseboard molding: none of the corners touched, some of the baseboard was cut to short and there was a broken piece. 2. The polyurethane coating: it was clumpy in some areas 3. The transition pieces: a number of them were cracked and they never put a transition piece between the hallway and my bathroom 4. Chips and gaps: a number of the floor boards were chipped and there were major gaps between some of the boards 5. The steps: These were a disaster. There were gaps between the steps and risers, many of the wood pieces were cut to short. They used a non matching orange wood putty to fill in mistakes and also used white caulk (which was not approved for use on wood floors). Dan and his son came out for 2 days to try and fix it. They fixed most of the molding, however one piece they cut was cracked in half and we had to glue it back together and the molding inside the upstairs closet still does not look right. They replaced 2 transition pieces and installed a transition piece between the bathroom and hallway. They fixed some of the gaps on the floors, but used a darker wood putty that did not match the color of my floor. The steps still had gaps and looked awful. My husband and I had to spend two days fixing the steps, putting putty in the gaps, staining the putty to match the floors, then applying two coats of oil based polyurethane on the steps and entire upstairs hallway. After our hard work they look ok, but are not perfect. The entire process was extremely stressful and very time consuming for my husband and myself. It cost us time, money, and a great deal of personal stress. All of this could have been avoided if we went with another company I would never recommend Danzco and suggest that you choose another company.

The second day I wasn't around and the doors were never shut so dust got everywhere but they did clean up some. The third day they seemed to just not care anymore because they were 3 hours late, made more of a mess, didn't clean it up, and left the house without telling me. I still don't know if they are to come back. Overall, the finished product was OK but I've seen better. This is a fine example of how small businesses fail. From beginning to end, the customer should experience complete satisfaction in the work they paid for. This includes the professionalism of the workers, which is part of the finished product. I found that part lacking.

In my bedroom, they painted, added new baseboards, installed recessed lights, & replaced my old ceiling fan with a fandelier. In my bathroom, it was a complete renovation; all I kept was the toilet so everything else was new. The guys installed a new floor, vanity, lights, shower, shelves, mirror, medicine cabinet, and curtain. The entire project took two weeks. Kras Development is my new favorite contractor & I know from experience that a great contractor is hard to find. I'm not sure if they know it but they're stuck with me now & I'll be calling them for all my future projects. You can tell they love what they do. I was surprised to receive an email canceling the appointment outright because they determined that the project was outside the type of work they typically undertake. To be clear, I completely understand that a contractor has the right to determine that a prospective project is not a good fit for their company. My disappointment is not that Zion chose not to take on the project -- it is how the situation was handled. What I provided was a preliminary description of my vision and the things I hoped to explore during the consultation. It was not a finalized scope of work. I am not a remodeling professional, which is precisely why I scheduled a consultation. I expected the professionals to look at the space, discuss what was feasible, tell me what might need to be modified or eliminated, and explain what alternatives might accomplish the overall goal. Zion advertises basement remodeling services, including guidance involving issues such as egress, plumbing and electrical considerations, so I don't believe it was unreasonable for me to expect that conversation. Even if, after speaking with me, they ultimately determined that the project was outside their expertise, I would have completely respected that decision. Instead, the appointment was simply canceled by email without a phone call or any opportunity to clarify that many of the items in my description were ideas and could have been modified based on their professional recommendations. I can't speak to the quality of Zion's construction work because I never had the opportunity to meet with them. This review is specifically about my experience with their consultation and communication process. Given the strong reviews I had read about the company, I expected a more personal and professional approach to communicating that decision. A brief phone conversation would have gone a long way.

We used DDL last year for some renovations in our house and about a month ago we realized we had a…read moreleak. It was on the weekend and we had a guest, so we wanted to get the situation resolved quickly. We were fortunate though because even with the pictures we sent David, he still wanted to come out to see in person what was going on with the leak. The same day we called, he came out. They didn't charge us like it was an emergency like companies like roto-rooter would. They ended up replacing a copper sewer pipe (our house is from the 60s) running from the upstairs bathroom down to the kitchen pantry. It only took them two days for the repairs and others have stated the estimates and final cost were very reasonable. We hope to use DDL again in the future.
