We hired H&C for a total kitchen remodel and we are so thrilled with the results! This was by far…read morethe biggest home improvement project we had ever undertaken. We sought estimates from other contractors but we felt none of them measured up to H&C in terms of their professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail. They have a deep and talented team that was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to all of our questions no matter how small or complex. Even from the very beginning, before we had finalized a design or signed a contract, Luis and his team's responsiveness and professionalism always made us feel as though we were a valued client. That continued throughout the entire process as we worked with them to develop a design that fit within our budget. Fabio was assigned as our project manager and we couldn't be more thankful for him! He was on top of every last detail and when we had two unforeseen issues come up during demolition, he was quick to provide us a thorough assessment of the issue, several options, and his professional recommendation. It was extremely evident that Fabio and his crew that were here every day were a strong team and it was reflected in their daily communications, their craftsmanship, and their meticulous attention to detail. We'll definitely recommend H&C to our friends and family for any remodeling projects. We're looking forward to enjoying our new kitchen for years to come!

I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

I cannot say enough great things about my newly renovated kitchen. Just HOLY MOLY. I could stare at…read moreit for hours! A little backstory: My mom was first introduced to Luke when she had him renovate her kitchen. A few years later, when she moved, she had him redo her kitchen and bathroom countertops and install grab bars by her toilet. We've trusted Luke for years, and that trust has absolutely carried over to my own home. I've been living in my apartment for quite a while, and my dishwasher had started making some strange noises (although it still cleaned just fine). Then, suddenly, my refrigerator door wouldn't stay shut. I even asked ChatGPT to help me troubleshoot it, but no luck. I was literally putting a weight in front of the fridge to keep it closed! That's when I started talking to Luke about appliances. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was telling him how I didn't love my cabinets or countertops and asking, "Well, what if we did this instead?" He was more than happy to entertain all my ideas while offering his own professional input. I genuinely appreciated the communication throughout the entire process and how willing he was to listen, collaborate, and help bring my vision to life. The kitchen was completely gutted and transformed with new floors, appliances, cabinets, countertops, a sink, faucet, backsplash, and paint! He also added under-cabinet lighting and a really cool disposal button. The result? An absolutely gorgeous kitchen that feels completely new. The original estimate was about three weeks, but I tend to double renovation timelines in my head anyway--and approximately six weeks turned out to be the more realistic expectation. The wait was worth it! Luke also helped me upgrade my bathroom with a larger vanity and a new faucet, and I'm in love with that update, too. One thing I really appreciate is that Luke has a team of people for all the different parts of the job and coordinates pretty much everything. It made managing such a big project much easier. My main responsibility was being home for appliance deliveries, including one memorable Home Depot delivery window of 6:45-8:00 AM. Why?! (Apparently, Best Buy is worth checking out--they may price match!) All in all, I am SO happy with how everything turned out. Luke listened to my ideas, offered great input, communicated throughout the process, and helped turn my vision into reality. If you're looking for someone you can trust with your home, I highly recommend Luma Build and Design. In Luke I trust!

We had a great experience working with Owner, Peter Exis, Tameka, Office Administrator, and their Crew, lead by Giovanni, a skilled carpenter and project lead. They made it easy to do business and the results were spectacular, they transformed our home into our dream home. Peter worked around our budget along the way and provided us with recommendations and solutions to meet both our vision and budget. We did not hire a designer, however working with Peter, who is also an artist, to design our kitchen and bathrooms was extremely helpful. The crew, lead by Giovanni, were great, respectful, patient with us, and had a great attention to details. The craftsmanship was on point and exactly what we envisioned. The total cost was extremely reasonable for the scope of work we had done, which included, but not limited to; refinishing the hardwood floors throughout our home, two wall removals to open up our kitchen and foyer areas, refurbishing and refinishing our staircase with new balusters and knoll posts, four bathroom remodel (including our master bathroom), refurbishing and painting the basement bar, expanded kitchen remodel, and painting of all walls, doors (with new hardware replacement), trim, and all shutter blinds. We were extremely satisfied with Exis General Contracting and will definitely continue to refer them to family and friends.
