He will tell you he is a custom home builder. He is not. He will tell you he has built many homes. He has not. He will tell you his customers like the work. They do not. He will tell you anything. It is all a lie. Ask him to give you five happy customer names - including his five most recent. Ask him why his last two customers are suing him in Maryland court. He is an aggressive, compulsive liar that builds over priced and sub par spec homes. He takes from one job to pay another job. It is a house of cards and will tumble. He has stolen a great deal of money from us. Be very careful. We are now initiating a large lawsuit in Maryland court against him. I am hopeful this will put him out of business and not enable him to do this to another family. If you are thinking of buying his homes in chevy chase - do not. I would advise you to run -- don't walk the other way. I am hopeful that through our work with the AG in Maryland, the BBB and the courts he will finally be shut down.

My wife and I built a custom home in Chevy Chase with Georgetown Custom Homes, and Jamie Maloney…read more We started in October 2012 and the house was finished slightly early in July 2013. This was the 4th house we have built over our lives. I do not have enough nice things to say about Jamie, who had a very bad motor vehicle accident during our project, but his team made sure that we didn't skip a beat. Every detail was first rate. My favorite example is the humidifier in the furnace. I called him after we went to contract to ask him to put in a humidifier, saying it was my nickel. He told me that he would never build a house without a humidifier, and that it would not be an extra charge. When the HVAC contractor put in the humidifier I had never seen one like it - so I looked it up on the manufacturer's website. It was their top of the line model. Because we lived in the area I frequently would go to the job site to see what was going on, and was always welcome. His foreman, Walter, kept the place immaculate - cleaning up debris every night. We did make numerous changes and were never nickeled and dimed, in some cases I think he undercharged me for changes, like making the deck bigger. During the year since we have moved in the numerous little things that one would expect would crop up were fixed quickly. He has a policy of having the painters back, at his expense, one year in to touch up anything that needs touching up. I recommend him without reservation. I cannot imagine how the person who wrote the other review was talking about the same people.

If you are seeking a home improvement contractor, NYSA Construction is the only one…read more I was looking for a contractor to repair my wooden, backyard shed. Performing the work myself was a task I surely did dread. Although I made many calls, sadly, I received no response at all. I was about to give up, thinking I had the worst luck. I then saw an advertisement for NYSA Construction. I am delighted to say, when I made the call, they came out the following Monday. Project Manager Jason Fangmeyer promised to submit to me an estimate that would fit my budget. He said, "Yes, indeed. I know what you need." He took the time to explain. He promised he could ease my shed's pain. He said he would replace the shed's rotten wood. He promised that he really could. When I received the great estimate, the work I did permit. I knew it was Jason Fangmeyer I would hire. The price was right. Jason promised I would find his work quality to be a sheer delight. Jason and his men arrived at the promised date. They were not a minute late. The company's men did a great job. They are not slobs. They take pride in their work. They are no jerks. Their work is neat and clean. They gave my shed a nice sheen. I want to tell you; Jason and his crew made my 45-year old shed look brand new. NYSA treated my property with respect. Therefore, I will definitely keep the company in mind for my next home improvement project. Don't be lame, I suggest you do the same! Call NYSA today!

Because of this the work took longer than quoted I was out of a shower in a single bathroom home for an additional week, paying for a hotel room to shower. I found multiple areas of missing grout that had to be filled in with caulk since the grout had dried. The sink leaked right after instal. The bathtub drain wouldn't close and the worker informed me they didnt think it would close when they installed it but they didnt check or tell me. They had to come back not even a month later to re-caulk the bathtub because it had cracked. The bathtub caulk has cracked again, and i've found cracks in the grout of the floor tiles now. I finally took a bath for the first time and I woke up to a giant wet spot on the ceiling in the room below the bathroom the next morning. Hopefully they can figure it out and fix it but never again will I be using them.

The project…read moreincluded the removal of the old carpet and tile and the installation of the new underlayment, ceramic tile floor, marble foyer floor, and marble baseboard for almost the entire foot print of our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condominium. Sean Lada and his crew did an excellent job not only with the installation itself but with the communication back and forth. He provided great input for the design and he listened to what we wanted and worked with our ideas to make what we envisioned happen. When the project was completed and all the punch list items taken care of (very few for a job this size), we found an issue with the baseboard around the convector units. Sean and his team worked to quickly schedule and get the marble baseboard fixed so the units could easily be opened. We appreciated the response of Sean and his team even after the job was substantially complete. We would personally recommend Adela Construction as a company that performs the quality work you pay for, and would hire them again for future projects.

Both projects were a painless process, mostly stress free due to FGS's open and clear communication. Having had less-than-great experiences with contractors in the past, we were especially appreciative that FGS proved to be a true exception. Every aspect of the job was handled professionally and with careful attention to detail. Fredy, our initial contact, listened thoughtfully to our needs, developed a clear plan of action, and guided us through decisions as unexpected issues arose. Tammy, in the office, served as our main point of contact and patiently answered our many questions before, during, and after the project. She truly "held our hand" throughout the process in a friendly, reassuring way. A special shout-out goes to Luis, who did the actual work. There seemed to be nothing he couldn't do, and everything he touched--from plumbing and tile to drywall repair and electrical--was completed with exceptional craftsmanship. He also offered practical, experience-based suggestions along the way. We genuinely enjoyed working with him each day and were consistently impressed by his perfectionism, skill, knowledge, and commitment to getting things right. We heard of them through a realtor who worked with them for another client. They gave Hauptman glowing reviews which were fully met and justified with our build. We cannot speak highly enough about the team of craftsmen that work for Hauptman. They are professional, personable and highly skilled individuals that gave our home many small but important custom finishes that we enjoy daily. Custom finishing and materials takes time to put into place and cannot be rushed. Hauptman has been in the business of building for decades and has solid relationships with all of the subcontractors required to build a home. This also attests to the type of builder that Hauptman is. When we had an issue post build with our fireplace, the contractor immediately came out and resolved it for us, replacing the defective part. First class service all the way. When we realized after our roof had been fully shingled that we needed a patio cover/roof for shade, Bill drew up 4 different options for us to choose from and seamlessly attached the sloped patio roof to our existing home structure. It looks like it was part of the original design and not the after thought that it was. Hauptman is a builder that values integrity in everything that they say and do. Their prices are very fair for this locale's market. Bill and team demonstrated a patience working with my needs for handicap features throughout our home and exceeded all of our expectations. IF you are looking for a builder that has the respect and appreciation of not only his clients but also his colleagues, give them a call. We cannot recommend them highly enough!
