When we got sufficient resources together to "repair" our master bath's cracked shower liner, we knew that the best solution might be to gut the entire bath and remodel. Alex & team was great to work with, they really try to make things right despite some hiccups. I do feel they deserved 5 stars or 4.5 star if not for the following: 1. work was estimated to be 5 days, but it ran about 8. 2. a very small area on the tub was chipped off, assuming it happened while replacing the toilet and re-tiling the bathroom floor. I am fixing this myself since it was discovered after the fact and the chip is about 1/2"x1". 3. a couple holes were drilled through the neighbors' wall while putting up the mirror in one of the bathrooms. They fixed it as soon as they could. 4. shower valve and trim piece were replace with some hot water issues and the tub spout I provided broke so they replaced it with one they could buy at Lowes. I really liked the Delta set i got, but due to time a replacement spout was accepted. 5. Above counter sink was not installed correctly, and was fixed the next day. Overall I was very happy with the results, but I felt the work would have been smoother and saved on time if Alex was here to monitor the team members. Alex did everything he could and repaired all the issues him self and we really appreciated his work ethics and efforts! Anyway, we will not hesitate to call on them again. read more

We had a very good experience working with this team. We had a relatively urgent job we needed to address. We had purchased a new dishwasher, but the existing electrical connection in the cavity in our kitchen was not located in the right place. The installer left the dishwasher on our porch and said he would come back once we had an electrician fix the connection. He provided us with a recommendation on how the electrician should address the situation. It was relatively late in the day when I reached out for help (and it was the day before Thanksgiving). Juan came over that same day to look at the connection and provide us with his assessment of how to address the situation, and with a coat estimate. The installer said that Juan's recommendation was much better than what he had proposed. Juan also offered to come by first thing the next morning to do the job. His price was reasonable, so we agreed to have him come over. The team was very clean and by all appearances the job was done very well. This helped us to expidite getting the dishwasher off the porch and installed in our kitchen. I would recommend this business to others based on this experience. read more

The Ol' Mangaretta had a 1980s museum-quality bathroom and kitchen that needed some help. But wait just a moment on that... The first time I called Alex, it was about my dryer vent that had become detached. Not only did Alex come out the same day, but his price was reasonable. The second time, I had many other fixes that I needed him to make, and he handled all of them quickly and also at a great price. And here it comes: the '80s redesign. I had to get my house in selling order--enter Alex and Juan to the rescue. They and their crew were awesome! They are trustworthy, honest, and fair. I wasn't able to be home for the whole time they were there, but they were professional and considerate, and handled everything. They completely re-did my kitchen and bathroom, and installed new carpeting, so well that my house is ready for the red carpet. Alex and Juan offered the benefit of their experience, but also listened to what I wanted. They told me when my requests would be a waste of my money versus a smart investment. Very disappointed! I had high hopes for this company after reading all the glowing reviews. In my case, I couldn't even get an appointment for estimates. I spoke to the owner once on the phone, and sent pictures after the phone call. He said he could try to pass by after 2pm the next day. And never to be heard from again... tried texting him twice after.. and nothing. Oh well, business must be too great to even reply with a simple text saying sorry we are fully book solid for xx number of weeks. I can understand being ignored if I wanted to hire them to install 2 window blinds, but the work I needed cost at least $4,000 in labor. Thanks for nothing and happy new year. read more

They are the BEST! Arrive on time, do exactly what was supposed to be done (actually more than expected) to the highest standard and leave my home in perfect condition. Also, I wasn't home either day that they were in my house working. It's rare that I would leave workmen in my house without being there, but they are totally honest and trustworthy. Alex and his crew do great work at the lowest prices I've found in MoCo. Listen, it's Montgomery County, things are going to be a little pricier than Podunk, USA, but Alex's quotes have been cheaper for 2 guys than other places charge for 1. So far, I've had the guys remove some baseboard heating panels and repair the base molding, make a set of Ikea Billy bookcase look like built ins, and do some odd job picture/shelf hanging etc etc. Important factor for me: one of the trims on the bookcases didn't look quite how I wanted it (it was just a style opinion, I hadn't been super clear about exactly the trim I wanted). Alex came back out and redid to trim to my satisfaction for free. The fact that they'll make sure you're satisfied is pretty key. Next up, I'm going to have them hang some kitchen cabinets for me and then probably drywall up my unfinished laundry room. I have the utmost confidence that they'll do whatever job I throw at them well. read more

I had a hole in my ceiling and needed drywall replacement. Alex was very nice and respectful. His man did a good job fixing the ceiling. It took a couple hours. It would have been perfect service if not for the damage left behind. Their ladder scraped my wall, even gouged a bit of it out. Also scraped up a spindle on the stairs. He cleaned up before he left but didn't do a very good job. This left me to clean up and repair his damage. I considered the ceiling fix 5 stars but the damage and poor clean up 3 stars. I'm selling a house and there were a couple of home inspection items that the buyer wanted me to fix. The list of work was: fixing/replacing two window counterbalances, repairing and painting about 2 square feet of exterior wood trim, replacing 2-3 roof shingles which had been blown off, painting 2 garage doors and painting 2 deck steps (as in literally two steps). Alex came and I pointed out all of the above items I wanted to be done. He did not seem to know how to fix the window, and said that they would attempt to fix it and improvise if they couldn't. Everything else was quite straightforward. A few hours later, he sends me a quote of $1650. Now I see a lot of reviews saying that the pricing is fair and reasonable, so I'm not sure what happened with my quote. My family owns a number of rental properties and I've dealt with my fair share of contractors and handymen, so I know how long every repair/fix/job takes. I estimated that it would take 4 hours to do all of the work, so I did not find $400+ an hour to be fair nor reasonable. I replied to Alex noting that this seemed high and asking for a quote without painting the garage doors and deck steps (which I could do myself). Instead of a different quote, I got a seemingly sarcastic reply saying "how much did you plan to pay for this?". I replied, politely asking again for a quote without the painting and I did not get any reply back. I suppose it wasn't worth their time to do work for less than $1650. I ended up painting the garage doors and deck steps myself in 2 hours. Then I contacted a window specialist who knew exactly what the problem was, went and purchased the exact parts needed, and came to fix the two windows properly. It took him 20 minutes and the labor cost was a meager $60. Then I had a different handyman handle the roof and exterior trim. It only took 40 minutes and cost $180. So if you've been following along, the total time for everything was just 3 hours. I'll admit that it was slightly more inconvenient to have two guys come out and it took a little elbow grease with the painting, but in the end, it saved me $1400. So the moral of the story is: always, always get second and third opinions and estimates. read more

The business owner did not inquire about my timeline (I did not include it in my inquiry) or ask any clarifying questions to consider the possibilities of my inquiry nor was I offered an estimate/quote for services. I highly suspect I am being profiled in some way (really fully booked? Until when? So much so that you turn away potential business?) and am dismayed at the level of interaction/customer service, yet, happy at this early warning and ok with continuing my search elsewhere. I'd like to add that I read recent reviews of the business owner responding to inquiries and coming out in a few days to assess/complete a project. My message is below: Hi Handyman - I have a condo/studio unit in Congress Heights in need of a few adjustments. First, I'm interested in a quote for a Flat Screen/Book Feature wall (hang tv and add shelves above and floating storage unit below). Wall Measures 84"H x 48"W (~5.5" of floor level molding) and installing recessed lighting (or alternative lighting source at top of wall). When I hired a dryer vent cleaning company to vacuum the ducts I learned the duct was broken open and venting into the area above the ceiling drywall. I needed a repair contractor who would completely replace the complete ductwork properly and quickly. They recommended Alex and All Solutions. He was able to do it within 24 hours, routed it in a way that minimized angles and cutting into the ceiling drywall, built in a place to easily open it for cleaning. He does quality work is reasonably priced and worked quickly and efficiently, finishing it in half a day. He also explained what he was doing and the reasoning behind it.
