Review of Empire Today / Luna Carpet Services: I originally booked with Empire Today, but they told me they were too busy and passed my project off to their "sister company," Luna, without much explanation. I went along with it, and we scheduled carpet replacement for our staircase -- about 26 steps total. They told me the job would be done in three stages: one day for installation, one for binding, and one for a final check. No specific time slot was given, and instead, I was woken up at 7:00 AM by a call from the installer saying he was already in my driveway. He came in, did only six of the 26 stairs, then abruptly said he was finished and left -- leaving a large, uncut piece of carpet on the bottom floor. When I moved the carpet, I discovered a hole in the floor that had been covered up. I immediately tried to contact Luna, but was told I'd have to wait "24 business hours" -- which somehow means three days -- to get any response. No one answers their phone, and even Empire can't get through to Luna when they try on my behalf. It's been over 24 hours, and I still have a hole in my floor and only a quarter of the job completed. I even texted the installer directly to ask what happened with the stairs. He replied saying he didn't do it. I then told him I was just going to call Luna, and only then did he reply saying he would come back to fix it -- but I haven't seen him since. We have 2 floors we needed done. The basement had to be tested for asbestos in the tiles which I understand and we've had it reviewed. The living room would have had no issues but instead of doing the living they day they just left within 15 minutes. Now we've been trying so speak with someone for the last two days just to find out where to send the certificate showing the job was done. We called last night and we were told a manager would contact us. But have not heard anything. We checked around 2pm to see if they had an idea we would get a call but we're just told to wait again. Had carpet installed 2 yrs ago with no problem. Called last week to have the same room redone. Call Rep Mike lied about how much my previous service cost, and his manager tried to argue he was right. Accused me of getting loud before putting me on hold. He then comes back to say I was correct in how much I paid the 1st time, never apologized for basically calling me a liar. Now here we are DAYS after the install and I still have NO INVOICE. I've called many times and they keep saying Luna's policy says the customer service reps cant send invoices. It was an odd experience that ultimately never ended up happening. The I wanted the upstairs hall, landing and stairs to have the carpet removed and hardwood (or laminate) installed to match what we currently have. I tried to get three quotes: Luna, Lowe's and Empire. Making the estimate appts was fine but when they asked me to call back to confirm, I'd call the Luna number and Empire would answer. The lady explained that Luna and Empire were basically the same company that shared a call center and sometimes they forget to "switch over" where they are calling from. This explains why they kept verifying the appt for the other company and getting confused who was calling from where. Anyhow the Luna sales guy came out and was nice, punctual and presentable. We decided on flooring. The price quoted was fair and they could install in two business days. I let him know I'd like an emailed quote in writing to show my husband but we likely wanted to proceed. We planned to pay upfront and didn't need financing. The salesperson said perfect, I'll wait for your husband to get home. I explained that would be in another hour so he said he'd swing back by in a few days to get the contract signed. He seemed disappointed to not do it then. I asked if we could just sign it electronically but he seemed insistent on coming back. If the answer is that it must be signed in person, just tell me that. But he reluctantly agreed to email me the quote/contract. He finally did but nothing was attached. I emailed back letting him know that the attachment didn't come through and didn't hear anything. Finally a few days later he called and said he'd text me at 9 PM to give me some times the following day where he could come by and get the contract signed. The times he selected were literally in the middle of the day and I'm at work. I explained this and asked again for the emailed quote. No quote arrived and he never answered. I called once, emailed once and texted once. I've also emailed the Luna help people because they continue to email with special promotions. They didn't respond to me either. I guess they are so busy with business they don't have time to take on new projects. I just wish they'd stop emailing me asking me to do my floors if they can't follow up. I guess my warning would be, if you are not prepared to sign that day, and ask for a written quote/contract, they ghost you. It seems evasive looking back on it. If they are sister companies this gives me great pause to work with either one of them. At least I didn't lose any money. We had Luna install hardwood flooring in our dining room, kitchen and hallway 2 years ago. Within a day of installation the quarter round we put in kitchen to protect the cabinets came loose. They came back and fixed it. a week later it was loose and hanging. We fixed it ourselves with a better glue and that has stayed in place. Now there is a gap separating in the dining room in the most visible area. I contact Luna and was told "gaps" pealing and discoloration are not covered in our warranty. Really? What is? Luna does not stand behind its product. We have fraying and pulling after 6 months of carpet install. They will have a "site" visit/inspection and blame you for the issue b/c they do not want to purchase product to ensure client satisfaction. When you attempt to escalate the issue to Customer Service, they blame "site" issue and send you to another department. Erin in customer service is condescending, rude and at one point put me on hold in the middle of my statement. Use anyone BUT Luna. If you're looking to get flooring installed, steer clear of Luna. It was easy enough to get an appointment for an estimate and to get the initial installation done. However, once I had issues it was extremely hard to get a response from the company. The installers spoke very little English so it's not easy to communicate with them. While they were installing my floors, a package was delivered so they sat it on the floor in front of my banister. A few minutes after they left, I moved the package and saw that they had not put the quarter round trim in that spot by the banister. I called them to let them know they had missed it but they claimed they didn't install it because it was against wood and they don't install it there, but there were other spots in my home where they installed the quarter round against wood trim. Anyway, they said I would have to contact customer service. I also noticed a few pieces of flooring that seemed to be not sitting flush with one another so I called customer service and they said someone would contact me. Long story short, I had to call them 3 or 4 times and it took over a month to get someone to respond and set up at time to fix these issues. They sent out the same crew but the one person who spoke English was not able to come. They added the quarter round and "fixed" the floor boards saying one needed to stay taped for 24-48 hours for glue to dry. Once I removed the tape I saw the board was still sticking up quite a bit. Some other issues I've noticed is that they left a ton of pencil marks on the trim and flooring. The quarter round is a mess across the board. Where it meets at corners, it doesn't sit flush, there are gaps between pieces on long stretches of wall where they had to connect two pieces together. It's also starting to fray and peel at at corners even though it was only installed in August or September of 2021 and it's now March 2022. The flooring itself also scratches somewhat easily. I'm convinced the samples the sales person brings is a higher quality than the product they install. He took his keys to the sample and scratched it up and down to show it wouldn't make a mark. If I were to do that to my floors, I guarantee there would be scratches. I'm also pretty sure my floor is creakier than it used to be. Maybe I just notice it more but I don't really think that's it. There's definitely a clicking sound if I step in a certain spot that started within the last month. There's also a dip in the floor my my stairs. I can't visibly see it but I can feel it when I step in the right spot. Im very dissatisfied with the quality of the installation and the quality of the flooring itself. The customer service has been less than satisfactory as well. Now that Covid seems to be dwindling again, I'm going to attempt to contact them again and see if I can get a different crew to come out and replace the the quarter round and fix the various issues with the flooring. Im dreading having to deal with this again. Luna might have been cheaper than some of the other options in the area but I still paid over $4,000 and expect the job to be done well. Unless you are getting next day flooring or don't mind having your time wasted, I would not recommend this company. The initial sales appointment went fine. Company was supposed to come the following week to install my flooring. The day before I cleared out my rooms for the flooring to go down. A representative then called me to State they did not have enough flooring in so they had to reschedule for the following week. They ended up calling a total of three times to reschedule but did not call me until the day before. The representative explained that the problem was that if someone else purchases the same flooring and wants next day flooring, the stock items go to them even if a deposit has already been put down for the flooring. Also, I called my sales rep to complain after the first reschedule. He was very nice and understanding on the phone and said he would look into the problem. So after months of phone tag and me calling every single day until someone would return our call we finally get a call back last Wednesday. We are told that the manufacturer of the wood floor planks will not replace or supply replacement for the flooring that was placed in our home. Luna said they would send someone out to " repair" the planks that were damaged with the supplies that were left behind LAST YEAR!!! They arrive this morning and tell us that they will fix " the gaps between the planks but if we want the planks that have chipped splintered and fallen apart replaced that we must pay the labor" Are you serious right now!!!! This resulted in not only receiving the wrong, more expensive flooring on our install date, but also an ENTIRE ROOM being left off our contract. And then wanted an additional $5K to fix HIS mistake. i had Luna install Berber carpet in my 16X20 sunroom lady April. I have a seem in the middle of my sunroom. installers came back to try and fix it but can't get it any better. I sent pictures to Luna and sent them to manufacture. my claim was denied. the berber carpet I had down for over 18 years still looked better than the newly installed carpet. when you call them no one ever answers. if you press 1,2,3 or 4 at the 877 number. **warning - LONG REVIEW** My install isn't even complete and I'm already so fed up I'm just writing the review now. Based on the way things are going, I'm sure my opinion won't be changing for the better. Smh. 4/20 - sales rep comes out for measurements & pricing. everything goes smoothly, they have the flooring choice I want, we had everything set up for the install date and I'm shocked to hear that it's going to be that upcoming Monday, 4/25. The sales rep tells me I don't need to worry about removing everything from the areas where the flooring is being installed, just smaller items and the bigger furniture will be moved and then replaced by the installers. Great! stay up super late on Sunday night getting everything moved down and rearranged to the basement, anxiously awaiting what was promised to be a two day install on Monday and Tuesday. 4/25 - the start time which was agreed-upon during scheduling (hard deadline of 8 am since I needed to leave for work by then) comes and goes with nobody showing up. I get a phone call at about 8:10 from the installer saying he'll be there at 9:30. Huh? I remind him that no, that won't work since I've already left for work 10 minutes prior and won't be back until after 4 PM. There's no one to let them into the house and this was discussed prior to the installation dates even being set. we work through what I assume is just a scheduling mishap and miscommunication, and the installer text me to confirm that he will be there tomorrow (Tuesday) before 8 am. 4/26 - Installation crew shows up at 7:46, wanting me to walk through the entire house explain to them all the areas that are being done, confirm the color of the flooring, confirm the quarter round color, answer any last minute questions, and also apparently pay the entire rest of the balance off before they start any work??? this was not what was communicated to me from the sales rep, and quite frankly makes no sense because in what world do you pay for a job before it's even been done? So, the crew leaves. After making me 15 minutes late for work. 4/27 - payment details are worked out, the crew shows up by 740, everything is fine and they are set to work. I come back home around 5:30. They have done the entire upstairs (2 bedrooms & closets, a hallway, and a bathroom) which look right on first inspection but upon looking closer I see that they literally removed the old quarter round and then put it right back on with the new completely different colored flooring. I walked downstairs and asked the installer guy why the quarter round doesn't match the flooring, and he looks at me like I'm crazy. You can see in the pictures below it is clearly not anywhere near the same color, and why would I want the old quarter round back on top of my new flooring???! mind you, MY CONTRACT SAYS I ORDERED WHITE QUARTER ROUND. He assures me that they will fix it, shows me what work still needs to be done, and I kick them out at 7 PM because I'm annoyed. I also notice some corner areas that are definitely not set or cut right, and my bathroom sink is broken (see pictures below). 4/28 - Day four of living out of my basement, I'm getting ready for work and at 7:59 no one has showed up at the house. I walk out my door at exactly 8 AM, get in my car and drive to work. 805 my ring camera goes off and what do you know, the installation guys are at the door. About four minutes later they call asking why they can't get into the house. Oh, I don't know... Because we agreed upon you being there before 8 AM because I had a hard deadline I'm leaving for work at eight?! The in-home consultant was friendly and informative. She listened to our desires and showed the flooring that fit these wishes. The installation team was timely and prepared to fix unforeseen issues that arose. Of the 3 rooms we had refloored with laminate, two are satisfactory. The hall has a bit of bounce to it. I am only giving two stars because my carpet was installed in a timely manner, but the lvp order never happened! The lvp guys came this past Wednesday and said that they didn't have enough material. Then they said that my bathroom floors are uneven and the vinyl I picked was too thin to put over the ceramic tile. He said if he laid lvp over the tile it would even crack. They didn't do any of the bathrooms and I gave my deposit. He also said if they pulled up the ceramic the lvp was to thin. Now I get a text message because they are going to put flooring that will bend and try take my money! Not! I want a refund!! On Luna's website, is says it has a "110% price match guarantee: We'll Beat Any Competitor's Price or Refund 110% of the Difference." The carpet I selected cost $2482. I asked the saleswoman who came to my home how to get the price match for the carpet I selected, given that Luna's brand names and colors are not available in stores. She said to get a written estimate for a carpet of the same weight or higher. The face weight of the Luna carpet I selected was 30 oz. Lowes gave me a written estimate for a carpet with a face weight of 36 oz. The carpet from Luna was stain-resistant, so I also chose a stain-resistant carpet at Lowes, even though the saleswoman didn't say that I needed to. I paid $30 for Lowes to measure the area. Their quote was $2165. I sent the written quote to the saleswoman via text, and she said she had to get the price match approved by the national office. She texted back that the national office didn't approve the price match. I asked why it was denied, but she never replied. It's deceptive to advertise a guaranteed price match and then not honor it! The carpet at Lowes was somewhat better quality than the Luna carpet in terms of face weight and texture. My understanding is that Lowes and Luna both use independent contractors to install the carpet, which means the quality of the installation is the luck of the draw. The only reason I wanted to go with Luna if they honored the price match was that the carpet color was an exact match to an adjacent area that Lowes had installed a few years earlier. The Lowes carpet almost matches. I'm on a tight budget and can't afford to pay an extra $317 just to have an exact color match, so I went with Lowes. Interestingly, before I knew that vinyl plank was far out of my price range, I got a quote from Lowes for it. Luna's quote for their cheapest vinyl plank was about $1,000 more expensive. In less than a year the flooring is buckling and has gaps. I got specific flooring and was told that it would not do this and would withstand water for days. I had Luna come and look over the floor and was told it was under warranty and the entire floor had to be redone. The individual who came broke off a piece that was buckled, can be seen in the picture below. So now I have a broken piece of floor and will have to get this redone. Now they won't return any inquiries. They say that because it buckled it isn't under warranty. I would never recommend this company. If they were trying customer oriented they would make it right. Less than Zero is my rating of their Customer Service. On installation day, I called to confirm what time the installation would take place. The woman who answered the phone was rude as heck! She kept asking me to repeat all of my information over and over as if she was recording my voice so that she could ID fraud me later. The line was very clear so I asked her what the reason for repeating all information and the she hung up on me. I called back, got the same lady on the phone (she said her name was Judy). She denied ever speaking with me-and immediately hung up on me again! I called back then she wouldn't answer. WTF Do I have installation scheduled for today or not! If I hadn't already paid I would tell them where to stick their carpet...file this company with the never again list... I had flooring replaced in my home and the contractor was so terrible I had to let him go before the stairs were finished. I needed to have them done and had Luna come out. The guy gave me a quote of 5800 to place vinyl on my stairs. I questioned it and he said no it's 1400... only to say nope the 1400 was die materials.. the actual cost is 11000. I promptly asked him to leave my house. Ridiculous . I was skeptical to even call them initially and now i know it was for good reason. read more

The salesman said they'd leave a few pieces of vinyl behind for me. They did not. They also did not install a transition at my FRONT door! The people who installed the carpet canceled, leaving me with everything moved around and out of their way for 2 extra days. I called the salesman. He said it had to be a "life or death" situation for them not to show up and offered to have some manager or another call me. That never happened. Well, they didn't do our floors. I mean, the couldn't (wouldn't?) do what we paid them to do. We live in a highrise with specific rules about soundproofing floors. We discussed the underlayment requirements with our salesperson who wrote it into our contract and charged us appropiately. Our sales person also needed to complete a construction packet and certificate of insurance and submit it to our building management. He said it wasn't his job to do it but he'd bend over backwards for us. Then, the crew showed up and our salesperson hadn't submitted the necessary paperwork. Additionally, the crew said that the materials they brought didn't fit the specifications for our building. So they left. Lots of back and forth, anger and confusion ensued. The paperwork was submitted and another crew showed up. They said that the folks at the Luna warehouse (or wherever they get their work orders and materials from for the day) wouldn't give them the underlayment. In fact, Luna said they don't do that despite it being in our contract and us paying for it. So that crew left too. Ultimately, our salesperson was kind of apologetic and tried to get us to change the type of floors so that it met the requirements of our building and fell within the realm of capability for Luna. We'd already wasted over two weeks and irritation over our original plan of action and we were unwilling to waste more time. We got a full refund. In retrospect, having a knowledgeable salesperson would have made all the difference. We would have paid for something that Luna was capable of delivering and not wasted time. I also don't know what was going on with the multiple crews and supplies they were provided (or not) and them walking away without doing anything. read more

I've purchase carpet and laminate flooring with a lifetime warranty on both. Call twice about my flooring last year and this year about replacement for a couple of flooring. Last year someone came out. I wasn't home but my partner was. She stated and individually came out and spread the floor and that was it. Never received a follow up. After the Rep. told her it would be. I called this year about the replacement again. I was told by a rep. Over the phone that they do not have my brand of flooring anymore. I would need to purchase a whole new floor. I don't understand why, I should pay for new product because they didn't carry the old one. The life time warranty should still be honored. Now that the pandemic is over and I'm more comfortable with workers in my house I want this fixed. I am greatly disappointed that they want to charge over $400 to restretch the carpet. I have used this company for many years in this same house, and never has this ever happened aside from the same installers cracking my hardwood floor transsion plate the same day. The one star is for both the customer service and the product. We had problems with the flooring from installation. Per the salesman and multiple installers that came out the product was not connecting and wasn't laying flat. Everyone agreed that we needed a different floor. Instead customer service took the cheap route and replaced a few tiles. No surprise a couple month later the ones they put in are now popping up along with others. Customer service now says that it is no longer under warranty. This problem has been reported with 30 days of them laying these tiles and has continued. I would never recommend your company or use ypu again. Anyone can sell a product but its important how you back up your product...very unhappy customer read more
