This restaurant has undergone scaling back and adjusting to the COVID crisis, which completely shut down the main restaurant with its upscale menu for several months. They offered a curbside service in 2020 that was very popular but have discontinued that venture but reopened the beautiful upstairs dining room and bar, with a magnificent view of the Kamas Valley. As they start to emerge from the COVID crisis, the menu is still somewhat basic, and they do not appear to have a full-time chef or even much kitchen staff. I've only eaten lunch there, so it may be different in the evening. If you calibrate your expectations towards a beautiful place to sit and talk and eat bar food style fare, then you'll get that for which you went. I'd go more for the atmosphere than the food right now. They seem to be focused on catering events, for which they are wonderfully suited. They also appear to be just nursing the restaurant along, using the super friendly and engaged service staff for the double duty of cooking and serving and playing it safe until the economy supports more investment in their restaurant. We still go there when we're in the mood for what they offer. I hope to upgrade my rating as they restore their business back to its former state, which I fully expect. They seem to be good business people balancing keeping the doors open and not losing money so they have a healthy business to bring the full staff back to once sanity is restored. read more

Had the poutine and it puts Canada to shame, really good. Also had the special pasta that was supposed to be a spring Alfredo with veggies, except it had no sauce... once we got that corrected it was much better. Waitress was nice and pleasant but bar tender seemed awfully unhappy. Absolutely beautiful restaurant with stunning landscaping and views, surprisingly good prices! I'm not going to lie this is probably the worst quality food I've had out to eat in a long time. Don't let the ambiance and outside appearance of the restaurant fool you. Not only was all our food cold but it came straight off the Cisco truck. Looked to me like everything on our nachos was straight out of a can. The poutine we were looking forward to because someone said it was better than the poutine in Canada but that must of been a joke, I've had beater fries at McDonalds. I'm never one to complain when I go out to eat but this meal was repulsive. The chicken,bacon,ranch wrap was horrible quality. I honestly don't know how this place is still in business you could probably get a better meal in prison. Since it has open back up the food has been horrible and service even worse. I went to order take out at the bar there was 3 people behind the bar and they all ignored me for a good ten minutes. The people at the bar were really loud and dropping the f-bomb left and right. We have come to this restaurant since it open and this by far is the worse I have seen it! Imagine a stunning venue in a little out of the way Utah town. The restaurant was a nice combination of rustic & modern decor. There were flowers and water features all around and the dining room actually has a glass wall that opens up to the gorgeous patio. Aesthetically so pleasing & so unexpected for the location. The restaurant & grounds were immaculate. The food was amazing - a very creative menu with the food beautifully presented. We had the 3 tacos - one each of brisket, chicken, and pulled pork, St.Louis Ribs, Mac & cheese, and a loaded baked potato. Servings were substantial & prices excellent. The servers were polite and attentive - we were greeted immediately, and waited on throughout by pleasant and friendly staff. Couldn't be better! As I understand, there are frequent concerts at the location and many choose to have drinks and dinner overlooking the pasture and the beautiful horses, then have dinner, then attend the concert. That would be a great evening. I urge all to go here. If you are staying in Park City or exploring Wasatch National Park, it will be so worth the trip. A great experience!!! read more

We had an awesome experience here. My family has been coming through Kamas to our family cabin for as long as I've been alive, as long as my Dad has been alive, and longer. Generations of passing through town, with some former staples like the movie theater (RIP) and High Mountain Drug for a shake.. happy to add State Road to that list! It will definitely become a family tradition to stop by for dinner on nights we don't feel like home cookin' up at the cabin. We'd been eyeing the construction of this ranch over a few years and did some research before this most recent family trip and were happy to read we'd be able to stop by for dinner. It is sad to see Kamas get taken over by a huge development, but hopefully it only impacts the local community in a positive way. The place was empty on a Thursday early evening, but that was ok! We opted so sit on the patio which provided a great ambience and view. Service was friendly and attentive, the menu was explained throughly and the food arrived quickly. We tried everything from the filet mignon, half-chicken, brisket special and their french dip sandwich. Everything was high quality and presented well. Nice mixes of flavors, the sides were all delicious. It's a bit pricy, but it's justified. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area on vacation or just passing through. read more

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and give this place 5-stars. Before I list some things that I liked I would give this disclaimer. You can tell it is a new restaurant and there certainly are some kinks to work out but based on my experience last night this places deserves 5-stars. First, the building and setting is gorgeous. Everything is new and has a great vibe. It is somewhere in between rustic and contemporary. Our food was delicious. Our party tried about everything on the menu. We didn't try many of the starters but everything we had was delicious. I especially enjoyed the French dip (called the mg dip) and the Mac and cheese. The portions are quite large and the prices are pretty good. Hopefully they just keep the menu the same. I will for sure be back. read more

This place is abysma, was headed out on a Saturday for some food and saw they were open this is a big deal because the hours are and have always been very inconsistent. I had been there before the big "C" and it was never great but in a pinch it would pass. It really has a nice new building and the Views are great. I Can't comment on the food now because the service was non existent. I couldn't drink because plans I had later. It was as if a switch got flipped and I didn't exist After that which is funny because you have to have food to drink. If you want to sit at the bar and bulls*** with the staff it might be the place for you. But other than that don't go. read more

We really like the atmosphere of their upstairs bar area. Adults only with high tops and excelente views. Go before sunset. Service is a little on the slow side but mainly because it can get packed really fast. Just be sure to grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere and know it's gonna be on a slower pace. Food is great. And presentation is beautiful. We tried their restaurant downstairs too with our kids and the only thing that's was disappointing was that the lights were so bright that it didn't feel like a relaxing dinner for the whole family. I would suggest the manager to dim down a tiny bit and maybe some low soothing music just to give more of an ambiance. Service downstairs was excellent as w head a really big party. Their corn bread is to die for. Be sure to get some. Their best appetizer in my opinion is their smoked pulled pork sliders. It's good place to get dress up and have a bite or have a chill night with the fam if you don't feel like cooking for everyone. read more

I've been wanting to eat here for a while and last nigh we made the decision to try the food. The setting couldn't have been better. We sat outside on a gorgeous evening. The lettuce wraps were so good. The flavor was amazing. The lettuce was a bit hard to eat because of the shape but the Asian chicken wrap was tasty. I had the MG Dip. Great sandwich. My wife had the grilled Cheese. It's not a grilled cheese. It's a brisket sandwich with a slice of cheese. It was good as well if you like Smokey brisket. It wasn't my wife's favorite so we swapped and we both were happy. The Mac and cheese is very good. read more

Drinks took a long time to arrive and it was obvious from the get-go that this wasn't going to be a good night. Every starter ordered (four) came to the table cold - so cold that we had to send them all back. The server wasn't phased at all when we told her the food was cold and we assumed it was because this happens a lot. We suggested that in order to help - there was another function going on and so it appeared they were short staffed - that we just forget the starters and we'll just take the main dishes. They agreed this would help but then starters did turn up with the main courses and the food was still only warm at best. Suffice to say the quality of the food (even if hot) was v poor and all looked and tasted frozen and packaged. Our server disappeared and another server brought the bill and said the service fee would be "comp'd"!!!! She also asked us for our charity and good graces and when we asked are you not going to comp some of the food she said she didn't have the authority she would have to get the manager but "it won't be a pleasant conversation"!!! We were amazed at her attitude and told her that although not her fault the food and service had been terrible so we'd like to let someone know. She then walked off and told us she'd comp the food out of her own pocket!!! Wow we cam to the beautiful surroundings of Heber UT. Ready to have a drink and enjoy an evening out, concert, date night. Trying to enter the State Road Tavern when we were told to "loose the attitude " by the doorman. We had wrist band for drinking alcohol and he was so persistent and pretty rude and aggressive while pulling up our sleeves ( it is winter) to reveal the wrist band. I'm a 60 year old woman. We had to wait quite awhile to even have our orders taken, the place wasn't even that busy when we came in. To get our orders taken and our food out was probably at least 45 minutes. The food was good, definitely. And they have pretty large portions we ended up taking some home. The food was good but the overall experience wasn't the best. Which is why it got 3 stars read more

A shoutout to Justin the chef!! My son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandkids ate here 7/09/16...a late lunch/early dinner. Everything we ate was fabulous. Especially the Pulled Pork Nachos--they were superb--and addicting; great with a beer to start off your meal on the outdoor patio. Our main meals were the beef dips WB and Cuban sandwiches--also winners--though we took half home since we ate so many nachos! The view is spectacular, beautifully-landscaped and peaceful; a venue for lots of outdoor gatherings. Our waitress Stephanie was friendly, helpful, patient with the kids, generous with her attention and full of local information. Lastly, we thought the prices were super-reasonable. A great dining experience. My family owns a cabin up Weber Canyon and so we decided to venture down to Oakley for dinner last night. Trying a new restaurant can be a little sketchy sometimes but we were not disappointed. The waitresses and servers were so kind and helpful and the location was gorgeous. My family ordered a lot of different menu items and we all walked away extremely satisfied. My husband and I shared the tacos and the pork sandwich. We had baked beans and mac and cheese as our sides -- both were delicious! The price was right for the amount of food we received. We were too full for dessert but it looked amazing. We started off with lettuce wraps and tater tots. Both were very good. Then we got two wedge salads. We had one of them with chicken. The lettuce was not a wedge, it was a sliver of lettuce. Something like you would put on a burger. Even a rabbit would have left here hungry. When we complained to the Manager, he agreed that it's been a problem and they will be making changes. When we got our bill we were still charged $28 and offered nothing to make it right. It wasn't about the $$ it was about correcting the problem. We will not be back. read more

Last night we tried State Road, it took a long long time for our food to come out and was cold when it finally arrived. We didn't have time to have it warmed due to a concert that night. What we did eat had good flavor. My wife tried the Half Chicken, it looked like it had come out of a boiling pot. She didn't eat much of it. The Manager did adjust the check but never came to talk to us in person. This being our first experience I don't think we'll be back even on concert night. read more

Amazing setting and atmosphere. The complex itself is beautiful, and I look forward to events there and the option to have food and drinks. Also am looking forward to dinner on the patio this summer. Loved their iced tea and the liquor menu has lots of variety too. The food is good, but it's definitely got a bar food feel which is a little disappointing as there are not any healthy options. All the items are fried, even the salad has only a fried chicken option. We will definitely be back but hope a couple healthy dishes make it onto the menu. read more

Came in for lunch today. They featured a brunch menu that included some lunch items. We ordered: Chicken & Waffles, Chilaquiles, Turkey Cobb, and a Baby Beet Salad. All were fantastic and had fantastic plate presentation. This location is beautiful, they have concerts/entertainment. We were seated promptly, but then sat at our table for over 15 min without anyone bringing water, or the waiter just checking in. the dining area was less then half full so there was no reason for the no service. it wasn't until we were walking out that anyone acknowledged us. very disappointed read more

We normally eat in PC on Sunday's but since I was by myself on this Father's Day, I decided to eat in Kamas. My go to place, the Mirror Lake Diner, was packed so I chose to try the State Tavern at High Star Ranch. Since I was alone, I chose to sit at the bar. There are lovely spots inside and out on the patio. All are good locations with the good mix of tunes just loud enough and the breeze just gentle enough. The service was excellent on this holiday. And the $4 Bloody Mary and omelette perfect for Sunday brunch. I look forward to returning with friends and the Thursday summer concert! read more

There has been a sharp decline in service, food and cleanliness. The bartender was rinsing the bar glasses under water and wiping them out with a dirty rag before reusing the glasses. I also had a beer in a hot glass and when I refused to drink it, I was charged for it anyway. The food was soggy and cold. The service is slow. There is a major problem here... it used to be our favorite place but after our anniversary dinner I will never be back. read more

Just reopening for dine in after pandemic closure. There has been curbside take out until yesterday, when they reopened for dine in. My party of 5 came in tonight for an anniversary dinner of 50yrs. Together. Gratuity was added on the bill for a party of 5. Its fine. Things are different for everyone nowadays. The new normal is strange and makes the dine in experience weird and jilted for all involved but the lack of service and expensive dine in menu items (or lack of!) and the fact the cook wouldn't cook a side order of southwest chicken after the manager said it was available to order‍. Idk, overall the food wasn't amazing and the staff can't decide what guidelines they are following, guess I'll continue to support other local businesses that have my health and continued business as a customer on their minds instead of whatever is happening here. My family and I tried a lot of the items on the menu and everything was very tasteful!specifically the tacos and the pulled pork sandwich were amazing. My favorite side was the Mac n cheese, super yummy! With the food aside I thought the service and the ambiance was very nice!
