State Line is my first choice when I need things for my cat. They have a good selection of products, and the staff is helpful.

My dog Jackie and I like this store alot. Jackie likes as he gets to go in too and pick out a rawhide or cookie. I grab big 50lb bags of Iams red bag kibble. I really do not see a big differnce in price compaired to Petco or even Market Basket for that matter. The place is new and clean and easy to park. The staff are friendly. Its all good. Not terribly impressed with this place. I have 3 dogs and order about $350 + per month in Quality dog food. They don't offer any significant discount for someone like me and they didn't seem interested in placing any special orders for me either. I will drive 45 minutes to Woof pet food in Hampton. We are semi-regulars here, even before they moved to their new location. Don't come as often since joining a private food buying group, but before then we bought all our dog food there. We are pretty selective about what we feed our dogs, and do a mix of raw and kibble. With regard to the latter, we rotate brands/protein sources for lots of variety, several of which State Line doesn't stock. But they've always been good about doing special orders, providing the distributors they use carry the product. And they can usually get it within a few days, depending on what their order day is with a particular distributor. Just be sure to plan ahead so you're not down to your last cup of kibble. Besides food, we get dog toys, Lupine collars and leashes (a great NH company with lifetime guarantee even if chewed), wild bird supplies, and our niece recently redecorated her big fish tank with accent pieces she hasn't seen at home near Toronto. State Line also has their own line of dog treats. Though we generally do grain free, we stretch the rules with treats and our dogs enjoy the blueberry biscuits. They do have the rewards program, but as people have mentioned food purchases don't go towards your points. Not a limitation for us since we buy very little food there, but we still get our bonus rewards at least a couple times a year, $10 off coupon on your next $50 purchase, and can't be used on food. They have reduced the valid time frame for the coupons though. I think it was about a month, now you have to use it within about two weeks. We do like to support an independent pet supply business, particularly one that doesn't sell animals of any species. Not even fish. Being involved in rescue, that's pretty important to us. The prices are very good and the staff is generally friendly, but the young people they hire on really know very little about the products they sell. Don't expect to get much, if any, advice about the pros and cons of different foods. Or what even makes a good food versus a questionable one. You still have to educate yourself and read the labels. read more

I like it here even though I don't usually go here for some reason. They do not carry live pets. They have good deals on cat litter and dog/cat foods and many brands to choose from. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of parking and no line to wait in. They usually have a coupon in the Carriage Town news and other local coupon mailings for $5.00 off a $20.00 purchase. but the catch is you cannot us it in conjunction with any other coupons like the $9.99 cat litter coupon (which I love!) I gotta start coming here more often once the construction all around this place is done. read more

If you buy something here and lose the receipt, don't expect store credit. When you bring the item back to the store, you will get same day credit. I don't care for that deal especially being a rewards member. This recently took place for me and I had a $60 bag of food I had to return because the dogs got sick. I saw them place that bag back on the shelf which was odd. It should have been returned to the supplier and flagged. Instead, we got a known brand bag of food which will be a gift to someone we know with a dog. The prices are high here and even though there is a lot of inventory there isn't a lot of typical food treats or toys. Seems to be the same product line. We have been here many times in the past but after this last hassle, we will not be back. I told them exactly when I bought the food and also told them both our dogs became ill with it. We had bought two bags and the other ended in the trash because they would not refund a bag that had been opened, no matter what the reason. There are plenty of other big retailers in the area we will go to instead or simply continue to order online elsewhere. This was a nice stop but not anymore. read more

Im not one of those people that strolls into a store 5 minutes before closing- I just went to Stateline at 5:45 p.m. on a holiday weekend store closes at 6 p.m. I have no choice HouseGuests plus their dog.... now all the sudden my spare bedroom has become a giant pee pee pad ughh Store was impeccably clean as always, staff Beyond kind, if the tables were turned I definitely would have given attitude! I used to be a fan. I have two cats and prefer the Science Diet food. They used to offer great coupons then changed them to say "excludes food". Now the coupons are a better deal than Petco and Petsmart but not like they used to be. I was still going until they refused to honor a manufacturer coupon with their own. Neither coupon had restrictions against using a manufacturer with a store coupon. I even pointed out that all they had to do was mail it in and they'd *get* the $10 from Science Diet. No go. Well, ok...but they moved to rt 125 in a much bigger space. They are pretty inexpensive when compared to petco and I usually get my bird's food here. Sometimes they will have a really good sale on cat food and I will pick some up here too. They have a really extensive dog toy, grooming, food etc section. Totally worth skipping over petco. I think they just started an awards program too which is nice. For example, a bag of cockatiel food at state line is about $6-7, at petco that same brand and bag is about $15. So I've been shopping here for years and joined the Cash Back Rewards program. SCAM!!! I finally reached 300 points (1 point per dollar spent NOT including food) and went through hell getting it because it was never sent to me after waiting months. I finally get them to reissue it and it comes as a crappy coupon for $10 of a $50 purchase!! That is NOT cash back! Or a reward! It's a coupon worth less than the coupons in their circular. I am SO unhappy. This kind of deceptive practice can't even be legal. read more

We love State Line Pet and bring in our boy Oliver almost weekly! The employees are always very friendly and even know our dog by name. The dog selection is great and the prices are even better. We had a guinea pig who passed away a few months ago and brought his unopened food and shavings to return them. They had no problem taking the supplies back without a receipt as they were unopened and still had the State Line price label. When asked why we were returning it, we mentioned that our guinea pig passed away and they offered their condolences. A week or two later, we received a sympathy card from State Line apologizing for our loss. I was so touched! Thank you, State Line Pet! Also, the store is a great place to socialize your dog as usually three or four dogs are there at a time. read more

People and their pets were trolling for chew toys, buying 50 pound bags of dog food, etc. I picked up some treats for our office dog and wish that I could have brought her. Since I don't have any pets at home, I probably won't shop here often. But I really would if I needed a pet supply store. read more

Visited a new pet store in Derry, NH and was EXTREMELY disappointed. Decided to go to State Line after some suggestions and we loved it. Prices were awesome. Dog beds were very cheap.....dog toys were great....hadnt seen a lot of them before. We'll go back. to do Christmas shopping :) read more

Dont be fooled into the convenience of the big box pet supply stores, venture a little further up rt. 125 to Stateline and save yourself some cash. Stateline has the best prices for pet food, supplies, and toys in the area. I've been coming here for YEARS, and will continue to do so. PetCo has my dogs food, a 30lb. bag, for 50$... at Stateline its about 35$. My birds food at PetCo is over 17$ for a 4.5lb. bag... at Stateline its 11. They offer a great selection of toys, supplies, and treats for every kind of pet you could think of. The staff is usually friendly, although today the young girl at the register didnt greet me, or respond when I said 'Thanks' at the end of the transaction. Whatever. The lady working on the floor who helped me find some dog toys for my super powerful chewer was excellent, she knew where everything was and listened when I told her my concerns about certain toys. Stateline runs a good business, I'd much rather support a local business like this rather than a big box retailer. read more

We have two dogs, a 6 yr F Labradoodle, and a 3 yr F English Labradore. Needless to say, food and medical supplies are essential! We've been to LOTS of pet supply places, ranging from mom/pop shops to big chain stores, and this is the only place we really enjoy shopping at. Their staff are well versed in what they have and how to use it, and they have a really great inventory of low priced food, treats, and supplies. In fact, we often compare their prices to those at the big chain stores, and there really isn't any comparison. We go there regularly (with both dogs in tow), and often spend hours walking through the aisles, investigating new toys and/or tretas, and really thing this is one of the best pet supply stores around. My elderly husband, a regular customer of Stateline for several years, purchased three 25/30/40 pound bags of dog food and bird seed there yesterday, as well as a small box of tick medication ($41 on sale). After loading the 3 bags into our car and driving off, he realized he had no memory of taking the tick medication from the carriage and placing it in the car. He returned to the store within 30 mins after he had left and searched all carriages. After not finding the tick med, he asked if any employee or customer had found it in the carriage. A staff member said no and told him they would review the store video. Today, a staff member told my husband that the store has no responsibility after a product is taken from the store. Though this my be an accurate statement of legal responsibility, it says a lot more about the extremely unfriendly and uncaring attitude this business takes toward its customers, including seniors. We will not be back, as I will not support such a culture of profit over empathy and goodwill. Humans (especially seniors!) make mistakes, and most business owners know that a gesture of goodwill gains a lot more customer support and patronage than coupons do!!!! read more

Great prices and selection. The dog food was usuallly buy (Solid Gold) is about $32 for a 15 lb. bag in MA was $25.99 plus no sales tax ... yeah! They often have coupons in the mail for extra savings on non-dog/cat food items. Plenty of parking and they also offer a rewards program. Worth the drive. read more

Best prices. Even popular online stores charge $7 more per case for my cats canned food. That's a lot when I'm having to buy 4-5 cases per month. Great staff. They always assist me when I call asking for them to put the food aside. I know that they are busy but they always take care of me. The fact that this is a local business is important to me too. The fact that on all of the toys, food and other items that we buy for our dog and two cats are so much less expensive, obviously that is important to me too. I recently purchased a pair of dog boots for my 20 lb. Boston Terrier. When purchasing these boots I was told if they did not fit or if he did not like them they could be returned in 30 days. My dog tried them on in the house and when doing so he fell and slipped several times. . I knew I needed to return them. When bringing them back to the store on a Sunday afternoon in perfect condition and in their original packaging I was told by the store manager Brian that they coud not take them back and that I needed to speak with the owner Dana Post. who was not there at the time. I decided to call before drivng another 50 mile round trip back to Plaistow. After several attempts to reach him by phone he refused to take my call. He was either too busy or at a meeting. The owner Dana Post did not abide by his own store policy and did not have the courtesy to take my phone call. I would never purchase anything ever again from this store read more

This store doesn't sell pets; only supplies. They have a large selection of food, treats, cages/habitats, and other accessories. As other people have also said, the prices are very inexpensive compared to other pet stores. I wish I found them sooner. I would recommend giving this store a try to see how much you can save on the same products offered at other pet stores. read more

I have to say you can't beat the prices and will still shop here BUT some of the clerks including the manager were very very rude when we were there Sunday afternoon. We bought a leash and used it maybe 2 times that day. The following evening we noticed the leash had torn about an inch from the end as it was an retractable leash. Was really strange to say the least. I got the correct one up to 77lbs and my dog is 68lbs. So we were going to take it back. Unfortunately the box and the receipt got thrown in recycling. We took it back anyways just wanted a different one and the first thing the manager says is that it looked like our dog chewed it. Clearly my dog could not have seems it was about an inch from the end. We have a German Shepard/Lab mix that could never had reached where the tear was. Wasn't the fact that he said it but really the way he said it. The girl at the desk was rolling her eyes at my wife which I found really rude because my wife said she took exception to the way he was acting and talking to us. I realize that some people will try and take advantage of stores and return something that they really know how the damage occurred but this was sincere. Not everyone is trying to steal from stores. I honestly don't thing my dog could have managed to reach to chew on it seems we've had 2 others and nothing like this happened to the others. We were buying a new one because the spring broke inside the old one. I'll tell you right now the only reason why I'll go back is because the prices are the best.
