I have been getting my dog groomed for a couple of years at the Plaistow location. For The most part I was overall happy. Last appointment the didn't clean his ears at All and I put my finger in his ears and it was covered with stuff. All they said was we tried. They didn't suggest taking him back and trying again. When I suggested that they said NO. He is done. When I went to pay the price was increased by $10. When I asked about that they said that's what the computer says . Now they have banned me because of complained of the bad service and the price increase. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. No communication. Poor customer service and just a poor overall experience. You would think after being a loyal client my treatment would be better. read more

Zero star rating- but forced to put one star to post this review. The first photo is my dog when I brought him in this morning. The second is the reference picture which I showed two of the groomers when I brought him in. The third is what we got when we picked him up. His tail is completely gone and ruined. He looks absolutely disgusting. The only part of him that was matted were his ears, and I discussed with the groomers beforehand that they might need to be shaved. These are the notes I provided to the groomers: Can go a smidge shorter if needed, continue to grow out top of tail and blend it in- do not shave it, under ears very matted ok to shave if needed, not too short on his privates because it irritates his skin. Not one thing was regarded during this process. He is itching and scratching as they did not follow a single direction. I also got conned into some spa package which clearly was not worth a single cent. Gross behavior by these groomers. They ruined his tail many times ago and we have been working to regrow it which is why I requested it not be touched and instead be blended. His tail is gone. The fourth photo is his beautiful tail before. The fifth is his male-genital-looking tail now. Hideous. Waste of money and time as the workers were rude to begin with. They constantly claim that your dog is entirely matted when they are NOT. We noted the one portion that was matted, his ears. They lie to make their job easier because they are lazy and ignorant. They do not want to actually groom your dog in the manner that they should. Will NEVER be back. Maybe you don't care about your own dogs, but some of us do. Disgusting. read more

What the actual F$&@!!! 1 cashier with 4-5 consistent customers in queue, 2 dog groomers who were actively working on a few dogs, a lady doing dog training, and not another sole on the floor to assist a few customers looking for help. Customers have to wait in the queue to ask a question that the cashier may or may not know. One response generated a page for assistance for which someone came out of hiding from the back of the store to not offer assistance. Don't shop here expecting customer support on the floor. You need to know what you want, where it is, and then purchase. Bad staffing management! read more

A friend of mine went to Petco in Plaistow NH and look what happened I know I'm a cheap , but.... Do your homework before you go to Petco in Plaistow. I only go there when I need something that day and no other stores have it in stock. First time I went to the register with something that the Petco website said pick up in store today for $29.99 the clerk says that will be $49.99. I showed her the price on the website. She fixed it and I was happy. The next time I went there, same thing with another item. $54.99, it rang in at $79.99. Once again I was right. She smugly said we do price matching. I told her that's good because you're matching your own price. Today, what I got was $9.99. It rang in at $19.99. I told the cashier that has happened to me the times in a row with different items. Her answer, oh that happens a lot. I can't imagine how many unsuspecting buyers paid the higher price. read more

I went to buy about 7-8 tropical fish. Stood there by the aquariums for at least 10 minutes. No one to help me. Walked to the front of the store to get help. The man said, "That will be easy". I heard a page for help in aquatics. I stood by the aquariums for another 15 minutes. No one ever came to help me. I left, and won't set foot in there again. I'm glad that I don't own stock in Petco. read more

This review is for the Saturday puppy playtime only. This PP setup was odd. It was a mock set up in the front of the store with unstable partitions, that are loose and fall over, dogs are at risk from getting out. The group started late, and ended early, and nothing was really explained in terms of rules, etc. I believe that some dogs there are over the age limit (6 months) but get in as they are small. Limited room for the owners outside of the barriers. 1 woman staff, ran the group best she could. I will drive the extra miles to Manchester's PP group. read more

I take my Boston Terrier here to get her nails clipped once a month. She actually gets very excited when we walk into the store, she knows that the employees are basically walking treat dispensers - they always ask if its ok first, which I appreciate. Today I brought her in for the usual, and the groomer scooped her up and said 'you are the cutest dog in the world!' I'm pretty sure she got a big wet dog kiss in return. Very happy with the grooming department here, definitely a thumbs up. Dan is right though, about the bird food. 15$ for a 4.5 pound bag of Fiesta Cockatiel food is too much. Its 17$ at the other big chain store, and only about 11$ at the discount pet supply shop up 125. read more

Waited 20 minuets in the fish Dept with my 12 year old daughter with no help, waited in line to ask for help in the fish dept, waited another 10 min for someone to tell me they were helping other customers and would get to us when he got the chance, finally he was available, I told him I wanted to buy a goldfish for our 2 gallon filtered tank which I purchased two years ago from the store. I was told they would not sell me a goldfish for a 2 gallon tank. He was very rude! After spending close to an hour trying to get help to get a pet for my daughter, we left disgruntled to say the least. The last goldfish lived a happy 2 years in our kitchen and was a beloved member of our family. I will not be shopping at the Plaistow store ever again. Horrible do not bring your dog here they cut my dog and made him bald and said his hair was matted when he is not, I had to go get medicine for him because of the bad razor burn! This place is a bunch of kids who do not have the proper training. I spent 80 dollars for his hair to be shaved down, never again. read more

Went there today feeling safe as there is a masks required sign on the door. Several people were shopping with no masks. No staff said a word - not even a manager who was chatting with one of the offending shoppers. On their website the CEO proudly reports that all stores require masks for our safety. Our special family member, Cookie, a Border Collie, had been taken care of by Cheryl and her "Shagg'NWagN" service. She was awesome in taking care of Cookie's, and our, needs concerning her hygiene care. However, her van broke down which she used to drive to each of her customer's residence to provide the service, was unable to replace the van. She only charged $50 for Cookie and she provided the most excellent of service. I hope to be able to aid Cheryl in the eventual replacement of her van and the return of her service to not only here with Cookie, but to all her customers that admired her amazing work. I also hope that I am able to coordinate with her past customers to aid in this mission as well, as I am certain she provided the same amazing service to everyone. Since Cheryl stopped her service, we shopped around and Petco's service providers in Plaistow, NH strongly stated that their work was the exact duplicate service that Cheryl provided, and I also found out that Cheryl was to be working at a new Petco location in Hookset, NH. After the discussion, I was convinced that Petco was the right choice for Cookie. I informed the rest of the family and the appointment was scheduled. The day of Cookie's appointment was yesterday, July 17, 2014 and here are the results of that appointment: *Cookie's eyes were bloodshot and she had gobs of stuff on her eyes and face = F *Cookie's belly was all red with small scratches = F *Haircut was not complete and had various patches of miss-cut areas = F *Cookie's skin seemed to be highly irritated since her behavior of scratching and biting was nearly OCD = F *Cost for Petco Grooming Service = $63.00 = $13USD more than Cheryl for less quality = F *And lastly, our dog now has FLEAS! THANKS PETCO! Final Report Card of Petco, Plaistow, NH = F Petco had one opportunity to solidify a service relationship with this family's dog and they could not deliver. My cats like cat grass......I've been to the store to buy it and 7 out of 10 times its dead and they still want 6.99 for it. So today I go in, out of the10 there...one was just ok. So I talk to the store manager and told him most weren't fit to sell. He stone cold lied to me and told me they came in the day before like that.........I told him he was a poor excuse for a manager and now I'm contacting the corporate headquarters. I have used Petco grooming in a pinch in the past (twice), but they aren't my usual groomer. NEVER AGAIN will I got in there for anything. I went in today to get my 7th month old puppy groomed since my normal groomer isn't open yet. When we arrived, the woman groomer came out and angrily asked if we had an appointment and I said yes and she looked pissed. She then said my puppy was "totally matted" and I told her that she wasn't matted at all and that I comb her every day. She didn't even reply, just started angrily brushing her to check for matting. I then gave her a photo of the cut I wanted for my puppy (a very standard doodle cut) and she said "This picture doesn't have any instructions". I was surprised that a professional groomer would need instructions but did not say anything. Then she made me sign a waiver that said I was requesting "special conditions" that could stress my dog. I signed it but then asked what about a normal groom would stress a dog? She said it wouldn't and I said, then why are you making me sign a waiver for "special conditions"? I said my normal groomer would do this cut without a problem and she then took off her mask and said "I am a normal groomer and I'm the best groomer here." I said that was great and that I just wanted my puppy to have a good experience and that the cut didn't have to be perfect and then she said "You know what, I am not comfortable grooming your dog so I'm going to refuse service." I was shocked. I asked her why and she said she just wasn't comfortable. I was like are you kidding? Couldn't believe it. In retrospect, I think she was very stressed already, maybe overworked, and didn't want to deal with a dog with a lot of puppy hair. My guess is they claim they have matting and then shave the dogs because it's fast and easy. You get what you pay for! There is a reason reputable groomers charge more than Petco. But it was a colossal waste of my time and obviously really crappy customer service but I don't want a psycho working on my puppy anyway. To be denied service because I asked for clarity says more about the low standards at Petco than anything else. read more

I usually don't come here but while paint through I decided to run in and grab my pup a few toys! All the workers were very friendly although it seemed like there were only 3 people working in the entire store. The people here are really nice and pretty knowledgeable as well. I like Joanne the dog trainer/ fish expert. She knows her stuff. She even gave us a preview training class and it was excellent! The prices are a bit on the higher end, but it's a fun store and there's always some sort of adoption event or something going on! Yay! read more

If it is possible to give a -1,000,000 rating for this place I would. We had our dog scheduled for a grooming at 4 p.m. on a Friday night. We live northwest of Boston and there is always traffic on a Friday night. My wife called and to let them know we will be 15 minutes late, and the employee, Megan Castricone, had rudely informed her that the appointment is at 4 p.m. and if we cannot be there they will have to cancel it and reschedule the appointment. We decided to just show up and got there at 4:15 p.m. Megan proceeded to tell me the appointment was canceled due to us not being there on time. I had asked if there was a grace period and she said no, even if I walked in at 4:01 she wouldn't take me. She got frustrated with my questions, threw her pen down and said, "Why don't you just talk to my manager!" and then stormed off. I had waited there patiently for the manager to come out (never happened), and then I see Megan starting to groom another persons dog, and looking at me and telling another employee what just happened. Finally, the employee who was scheduled to groom my dog came over and had asked me if I was all set. I told her no and explained why. She the tells me they do have a 15 minute grace period however she couldn't take my dog anymore because she had to leave at 5:30 to go pick up her kid. No one was able to fit my dog in and they didn't care about a negative review and losing my business altogether. Stay away from this place! read more

I usually love them. however their pet care has changed they have their bearded dragons on sand and that is horrible for them. there was also baby dragons in with much bigger dragons and that is not okay either. the tank was covered in poop and they did not have the proper lighting either. when mentioning this issue to the girl that was there she said she knew more than me because she worked there I have had reptiles for a long time and own 2 bearded dragons as well as 20 snakes . Brought my daughter there so we can get a hamster. After waiting around and seeing no employees we stood in the register line to ask the attendant if they can send someone down to help us with hamsters. 20 minutes later, still no help so I put all our items down and we went elsewhere. The staff at this store is very nice and friendly, and always willing to help. The prices at Petco, in general are much higher than other pet stores chains and otherwise. Especially the food. Most dry food is 5-10$ cheaper by the bag at the "discount " pet store just up the road in Plaistow. I do shop the toy sales tho... read more

I'm a fan of Pecto, but not this particular store. I usually go to another Petco store and they're great. At this store, I asked the cashier if someone could be sent over so I could hold one of their animals. The cashier said she couldn't unless I was buying them that day because it stresses them out. Not sure if she just didn't want to send someone over? At the Petco store I usually go to, they have let me hold a few animals even when I wasn't buying them that day. read more

Typically I have had great experiences at this Petco. We really only come for grooming when Free dog is busy and we need our dog groomed last minute. Today I had a young girl who was absolutely miserable. She may have been having a bad day, but that is no excuse for being rude. I was actually hesitant to let my dog go back there with her. The manager here needs to train the staff to leave their bad moods at the door, and represent their company in a polite, friendly manner. read more

Been bringing our Newfoundland for grooming for over a year the girl that would groom him no longer works there. This time when i brought him i found the girl to be rude, and I do not feel that she did a good job. the dog obviously had not been given water he drank about a gallon of water when we got home they assured me he was given water while this usually took four hours this time took eight and cost thirty dollars more. FYI...Do not take your dog to Petco in Plaistow for grooming. They shaved my beautiful goldendoodle without permission. The poor guy is visibly uncomfortable. Normally we wouldn't have taken him to a box store but we were in a jam and he needed a bath badly due to him being sick. Unfortunately, the groomer completely disregarded our instructions and decided to shave his coat down to one inch. Max really misses his long hair. It will grow back but it will take quite awhile. Stay away from Petco in Plaistow. I am only giving a star because in order to post a review, it requires me to do so. They do not deserve any stars whatsoever. read more
