This was one of the most unnecessarily rude and ridiculous customer-service experiences I've had over something as basic as a CUP OF WATER. I walked into this Starbucks and asked for ice water with extra ice. I was completely willing to PAY for it. Instead, the employee decided to lecture me that I had to "be a customer" to receive anything and then announced that she would "give it to me free this time," as if she were personally blessing me with fucking water. Let me make something very clear: I WASN'T ASKING FOR A HANDOUT. I WAS TRYING TO BUY IT. I called the store afterward and spoke with the manager on duty at approximately 2:35 PM on September 11, who identified himself as Angel. I was then told that this Starbucks "doesn't work like that" and that they don't sell cups of ice water. What kind of absurd customer-service logic is that? You operate a business that sells beverages, you have cups, water and ice, and I am standing there WITH MONEY offering to pay--but somehow the better solution is to talk down to me and make me feel like I'm begging for something? If your store has a policy against selling ice water separately, SAY THAT. Politely. There was absolutely no reason for the condescending "you have to be a customer" and "I'll give it to you free this time" performance. And please spare me the favor. I don't need anybody at Starbucks doing me a favor over a cup of damn water. Tell me the price, tell me the policy, or tell me you can't sell it--but speak to me with respect. Staff was friendly and there were a few customers working on things at the tables inside. I kept myself busy by looking at their shelves of merch before my name was called. The drink was the limited run of the Fireworks Frappuccino and I was excited that we were able to snag some so I could finally try it for myself. Their level of care, customer service, and genuine joy for their jobs was palpable -- excellent all around. Jason went above and beyond by crafting a magically delicious hot chocolate for me, even though he didn't have to. The barista who helped with the food prepared everything with care and handed it to us so kindly. One staff member had a great sense of humor, another had a very calm and grounding demeanor, and in general the whole team had a really positive attitude -- friendly and clearly supportive of one another. Coffee here is solid. Nice place to work/study. Tables is way in the back, so minimal foot traffic. Music selection isn't great though. Plus it's loud. Much better if you bring your own headset. One barista handed out mobile orders and kind words, 2 baristas prepared orders in a timely manner without standing around, and the manager took orders with a happy heart, smiles and a genuine interest in her customers. I have been a big fan of the mango dragonfruit lemonade drink for quite some time. However, whenever I order it from the South Pasadena location it's always a poor experience. The drink is either too watered down or it tastes like dragonfruit and nothing else. I ordered this morning and the same thing happened. I asked them to remake it and it was worse than the original one I had. The customer service is always nice and helpful, but I don't understand how they can't get this particular drink right. You'll have to walk up to the pickup counter as there is no designated section where you can simply pick up your order like some other locations. Staff is very friendly. Service here is impeccable. I'm so impressed. The staff is always cheerful, the coffee shop is always clean, and I usually drop in to pick up puppacinos for the pups. It's just a cup of whip and it's complimentary. I love that this is my local coffee shop and I can walk here for a quick pick me up. They have an outdoor seating area and it's usually busy when I pass by during my morning run. Great chain and even better people. There's no drive thru but they do have their own lot. One of the many Starbucks to go to in the area, I would go to this one if I were heading in the direction it is pull inside their parking lot or if I were going towards Alhambra or the 710. Sometimes its a pain to pull in and there is no open spot or if you see someone double parked. I don't really like waiting around in this one because its so small-- the area where after you order you hang around in (pre-pandemic) I think there were a couple times where I thought it was taking a while to get my drink-- someone who ordered after me had theirs before and my drink was more simple to make. This location is usually my preferred one to come to and I always order ahead in case its busy. But today Feb 23 at 9am it was definitely not a good experience and the employees can't even say it was busy because it didn't seem that way the whole time I was there. The barista that was doing drinks is either new or she doesn't care to produce quality drinks. My order is always the same one and was done wrong. When i went and asked for them to remake the drink cause it didn't taste well and they forgot the topping, the barista didn't even apologize, she just said that I should put it on the app which I had because like previously mentioned, my order never changes. When I received the remade drink, it was mostly milk on a venti cup which I found odd because I always ask for extra shots and ask for half and half, not milk. This is hidden from the main Huntington Drive but is a popular location for twenty-somethings. It is well located for schools and churches and is in a nice area of South Pasadena. Parking is sometimes tough though, as it's a small parking lot shared with T-Mobile and I think another couple of stores. To be sure, it's busy after 3:00 PM, but come in the morning for a relaxing outdoor coffee on the patio. The making of the coffee drink is rather slow though, but the baristas are so nice, it really does not bother me. For a relaxing experience, try this Starbucks with a friend! read more

Located near my parents' house. I have probably been to this starbucks more than any other branch. Everytime I go, I always see familiar faces. Seems like the workers here work here for a long time. They are nice and fast. The counter is kept a little dirty but its OK. Its always packed here with people studying with laptops. Parking can be difficult at times. No better place to be inspired than an inviting coffee shop, in a nice neighborhood, with plenty of outlets to juice up my laptop. Wait, what is this? Now there is a communal table with a proprietary wireless ring charger. Outlet is blocked. Apparently you need to purchase the ring charger - which I believe works only at Starbucks locations. Grr... I did find table with an outlet, next to the door. Left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, like airlines who charge you extra for aisle or window seats if you say you have a preference. (I'm looking at you, United Airlines). Fine. So I get settled and get the coffee, and am prepared to pay. Do you accept Apple Pay, I ask. Nope. Dumbfounded look. I wouldn't have been so irked if not for the whole outlet thing, and I get that not everywhere accepts NFC payments. But Jamba Juice does. As does Trader Joe's. Staff was also way friendlier at the Alhambra Starbucks. When we went on a Sunday morning at this SoPas location, the two cashiers seemed more interested in socializing and talking with one another rather than paying attention to the customers. Tried the Spinach Wheat Croissant (new La Boulange) patry, and it reminded me of the spinach pastry at Porto's Bakery. It was pretty good heated up, and hopefully this one at Starbucks is healthier. Maybe I'll go to the Alhambra location instead and just hope for parking since the people there are nicer. read more

I usually "app" order a venti dark roast with a splash of half and half, nothing special, but when I've accumulated enough stars for a free drink- a venti triple shot latte is what I prefer. (I'm long overdue for a caramel frappe'.) Most of the morning crew has been here for a while. Amanda, Ashley, Augie, Frank, Michele, and Saul are the folks with whom I have the pleasure of interacting with most often. They are always cordial, and efficient; and I believe that Starbucks is fortunate to have them as employees! Seeing the crew is very nice way to start my day! read more

The parking lot was almost full, and I expected the Starbucks to be packed as well. The Starbucks, had some clientele but it was not to crowded. There is plenty of seating inside and outside they have a patio area. The service is good and a friendly staff, and my Tall Skinny Vanilla Latte was also of satisfying taste. I ordered with it a Banana Wall nut Loaf, cause the Bostok Almond was nowhere to be found. If I ever have to wait again, I will probably end up here to enjoy a TSVL with (this time) a Bostok Almond. read more

Sometimes I walk in and whomever is behind the counter at least says hi to me if they can't take my order right away. Other times I could stand at the register for a while and no one would say anything, though they've all looked at me. It's odd because it doesn't seem to matter if it's busy or not. Some of the employees just don't seem to be "people" people, which then begs the question why go into customer service? I do appreciate this store has its own parking lot and its always clean inside. When it's busy they still work diligently to get you your drink, even if they never say a word to you in the process. I appreciate the positive energy and the genuine kindness I see in almost every Starbucks I enter.The customer service at this Starbucks leaves much to be desired. Having had bad experiences at this store in the past, I avoid it whenever possible. On Christmas Day, I thought I would give it another try. I was disappointed. The baristas moved slowly and one of them. spent a great deal of time socializing with a customer who was hanging his unmasked face and hands over the plexiglass barrier. My drinks were ready in a reasonable amount of time. When I picked them up, the barista made a snarky remark about me not checking in when I arrived. (Actually I did check in with her coworker.)
