I want to share my experience with this Starbucks as a Bayview resident and as a parent. My daughter called me because police had been called to the Starbucks regarding a group of students who were being disruptive. I understand that managing a busy store can be challenging, and I also understand that employees have policies and procedures they are expected to follow. However, I was disappointed with how this situation was handled. My daughter was a paying customer and had already purchased her drink, yet she did not receive it until I arrived. When I got there, I felt the interaction with the manager was rude and condescending, and I did not feel there was much effort to de-escalate the situation before involving law enforcement. I am a former Starbucks employee, so I understand that managers sometimes have difficult situations to handle. I also understand that students should be respectful of the business and its employees. At the same time, calling law enforcement should be a last resort, especially when dealing with young people. As someone who lives in the Bayview community, I believe it is important for businesses serving this neighborhood to take the time to understand the community and build positive relationships with the young people who come into the store. My concern is not that the students should be exempt from following the rules, but that there should be opportunities to communicate, de-escalate, and resolve situations before they reach the point of police involvement. I was especially disappointed that my daughter, who had paid for her drink, did not receive it until I personally came to the store. I hope Starbucks will use situations like this as an opportunity to review how these incidents are handled and consider approaches that prioritize communication and de-escalation while still maintaining a safe environment for everyone. read more

Overall, the drinks are made pretty well, but the customer service needs major improvement. I walked into the shop around 4:30pm after work, hoping to grab a pick-me-up, but was met with long wait times and attitude from the barista. The last two times I've come to this location, my name has never been called when my drink is ready--it's always set aside. I'm not sure why. This last visit, I noticed my drink sitting on the counter, so I walked up and politely asked, "Excuse me, is that my drink?" The barista looked at me and responded, "What!?" with the worst attitude. I love my local Starbucks Where I come every day almost since I moved to the area a month ago. However today on Thanksgiving Glynell(?name on apron) who doesn't normally work that often tried to stop me from picking up my drink off the counter when the barista called my name. I asked her why and that it has my name on it and she said "because of what happened last time" which referred to a busy day here about three weeks back when I had grabbed another persons coffee by mistake when it was really busy in here. I didn't remember it was her until she said her rude comment but I seem to recall three weeks ago I ordered food and a coffee and the two items were presented on the counter when I had made the mistake because they were for a mobile order or something. I don't think she should be rude to customers like that and her entitled attitude to discriminate me because of some bias she had before. I also remember how for a day or two after that incident before they actually staffed a dedicated expeditor to pass out food for a day or two because she was that upset about my existence (I'm white lol) which I don't think corporate Starbucks approved since they quit about a day after that. since I drop money on here all the time and I don't even know her and don't engage negatively or cause issues I don't appreciate the attitude or her fixation on me. We are grateful that they are in the neighborhood, and so near our house, though admittedly, the service here is much worse than almost any other Starbucks that you go to. Their hours are really strange but I also understand that sometimes when we go, there's almost no one there and so they have to do what they need to do to stay in business. Being completely honest, if it's not just black coffee, they mess up our drink orders about 50% of the time. Since the "travelers" usually take longer, I went ahead and pre-ordered before getting to the store. When I got to there, they told me they were out of bags, no biggie I can carry the cups, condiments, and milk. I continue to place an order for 6 drinks and a sandwich. It probably took me 10 mins just to place my order. My drinks weren't even complicated! The guy at the register was either new or needs more training. I used to work at a Starbucks, it is really not that hard of a job. I probably repeated the drinks at least 3 times because he kept on getting them mixed up. I was worried so I told him to read them back to me just to triple-check that he understood what I was trying to order. Okay, so I am standing there waiting for my drinks. On the tickets that gets printed out for the drinks it tells you how many are in that order. One of my tickets somehow got lost. I had to tell her that I was missing a drink. As she was making my mocha the barista did not place the cup directly under the espresso dispenser. As a result I did not get the full two shots that I am supposed to have in a grande. So I had asked for an additional shot and explained to them what had happened. I was standing there the whole time watching her make all the drinks. The other girl there was not trying to give me the extra shot. The barista that made it knew what I was talking about. In the end they did give me the extra shot they owed. Another thing was that they forgot to mention that they were out of carrying trays until my drinks were almost all done. How do you suppose I put 6 drinks, plus the cup of milk for the travelers pack, with no freaking tray in my car??? I had to ask them to look for a box for me. They should have thought about that in the beginning instead of me asking for it. They were not happy about helping at all. I was at the store for about half an hour for 6 freaking drinks!! It wasn't even busy, there was hardly anyone in there. Anyways overall it was the worst experienced I have ever had at a Starbucks. They were rude and unwilling to help. If I could rate no stars I most definitely would. I hate that this is the only coffee place around me open past 2 as I really hate coming to this Starbucks. Most employees, if not all, could care less how long you wait and NEVER acknowledge you if you don't yell for their attention. I hate having to every time say "hey excuse me" when it should be automatic when they see you come up to the handoff bar. Not even a bat of an eye. Especially if you're a mobile order. Every time I come and my order isn't ready, I very nicely ask for an update, and every time I kid you not, all I get is dead pan answers. And mind you I always go in AFTER the estimated time as I know it's never true. The people here need an attitude check and adjustment.
