They had a bit of staffing challenges a year or two ago, but the team has really locked in over the past year. Consistently great service and fast turnover. Once in a while, I'll get a latte and you can tell it was made by a new barista who's just learning, 99% of the time the drink is perfect. Prices are too high. Almost 2X a few years ago. read more

I've visited this locations several times while I'm in the area. Not a huge location, it's a decently sized store. Several long tables and a few rounds of seating. Not super busy and can be a nice location to be able to find some quiet open space to get work done or read. They have a huge counter for mobile pick up orders, but if you don't ask for your drink, you could be waiting... waiting... waiting... forever! You have to ask an employee for your mobile order. It's not just put out in the open to grab and go. I'm guessing they may have that exact issue with coffee walking away. Bathrooms are clean. Staff is friendly. Getting into this place is a mess, everyone coming from every which way from other businesses, such chaos. Drive thru was long so we ventured inside and was helped right away by a friendly barista. Munchkins cake pop was provided immediately upon ordering (which other locations either forget or provide with drink)... there was a steady yet occasional stream of customers coming in. This must have been the most spacious starbucks I have been inside (aside from the one in Temecula). Drink was refreshing and hey its starbucks! Not sure how long the drive thru takes, but might venture back and wait in line. The parking lot has plenty of spaces for this business... but it is at the end of the strip of businesses with an unorganized intersections in the parking lot. read more

OK, I'm done. This place is nice, when it's open and they acknowledge your presence. To be clear, if you are a drive through customer you are treated extremely well, walk-ins are second thoughts to these employees. I walk in today, they were busy so I completely understand having to wait, no problem, but someone standing at the counter waiting to place an order is obviously less important then drive through customers at the window. I am waiting, and waiting, at least three cars are greeted, their drinks made and they receive their order before anyone bothers to notice a customer waiting at the counter; I walked out. They are laughing and chatting with the drive through customers, having a gay old time, while someone actually INSIDE the facility is ignored. This is not the first time this has happened to me and that, combined with the random closings and I'm done. Never again will I come to this Starbucks. If you go, I'd recommend driving through, those customers are obviously FAR more important than those that actually walk in. read more

I needed to kill some time so I ended it here ordering a cafe misto and a strawberry scone. The misto was good overall. It was slightly bitter towards the end. The strawberry scone was good. I wanted a new one that was still in a those packages but the girl still gave me one from inside the counter. As result, the scone had that texture that it had been sitting to long. It basically lost its texture and was to soft all the way through. I hate when that happens. Service was friendly enough, but I would say they need to listen a little more carefully. read more

Likes: - Speedy, friendly service. - Two long benches with plenty of seating. Five sets of single tables. Single group of 4 arm chairs. - Restrooms with stalls, generally clean. - I see five sets of outlets along the outer perimeter. One underneath the main bench table. I come here almost every afternoon before I go to work. Today, I worked morning and grabbed Starbucks. I understood that this location is slow, and it takes time to make the drinks. I placed a mobile order at 10:18 AM and arrived at 10:25 AM for my breakfast, and waited until 11:00 AM to get my food. I asked the young lady who made the drink about four times, and she kept ignoring me. When others talked to her, she answered and made their drinks. She did not answer me and kept forgetting me. Everyone who's after me got their drink. I decided to ask the cashier, and she was friendly and made my drink for me at 11:00 AM and got my drink at 11:03 AM . Taylor at this location is a freakin saint and Starbucks should do whatever it takes to make sure he stays and is promoted and rewarded for his cheery attitude and stellar customer service. I watched Taylor patiently wait on a customer who was paying in coins, gently wrap a mug for another customer and show genuine concern for whether the mug was sufficiently secured, and then he got to me and was sincerely interested in spelling my name right. All with a smile. People are wasting their lives away outside in the drive-thru and all the while Taylor is inside serving up homes, smiles, and dreams. This location should actually get rid of the drive-thru just so people go inside and enjoy Taylor. It's for their own good and for the good of mankind overall. I may start a petition. Particularly chaotic location especially between 630-8am. Exceptionally spacious inside and very clean as well. The staff keeps it remarkably clean, well-stocked and organized. The baristas do their best to keep the lines moving getting your drink out promptly. They are incredibly efficient, friendly and accurate with the orders. I always get excited when I'm about to head into a Starbucks, because I love the hustle and bustle and the amazing smell of fresh grounded coffee beans. However, this Starbucks threw me off a little since it was so quiet! I came here around 8 PM on a Saturday night. This Starbucks location is a drive-through, but they also have a huge indoor seating area. For some odd reason, their sizes are a lot larger than usual. Not sure if this is a new thing across all Starbucks? We ordered: -1 Blueberry scone: decent scone. A little to dry for my liking, but still not bad! -1 tall Strawberries and Creme Frapp: sour and too bland. Did Tasted like ice water and some pumps of strawberries. They ran out of whipped cream so they asked me if I could use marshmallow whip instead. -1 tall iced coffee: standard iced coffee. maybe a bit too much ice though! -1 venti S'more frapp: not too bad, sweet enough for Starbucks standard. -1 venti black brewed coffee: bland, and not "coffee" like enough. -1 mango smoothie -1 iced caramel macchiato Pros: -Friendly service! 8 of us came in all of a sudden, but they still kindly took our orders. -Quick service! I mean, there was really no one there. But at least they didn't drag on! Cons: -Maybe because they were closing at 9 PM, but everything tasted watered down. The frapps didn't taste sweet enough (coming from Starbucks?! No way...) and the coffee just tasted like hot water. Tips/Observations: -Usually I'm all about independence and traveling solo, but this particular neighborhood was a bit too much for me. A couple hundred feet away, the plaza is busy, but in this end, it is too quiet. I don't like to judge others, but there was a customer sitting inside who kept on giving me long glances multiple times that we felt so uncomfortable we had to leave. Just make sure you stick with a pac when you come here! -This should be applicable to all Starbucks, but same day refills for Iced/Hot coffee, Iced/Hot Tea is only $0.50 (50 cents!) a cup! YAY! -They close at 9 PM on Saturdays! Not exactly sure of their other hours, since I didn't see a sign on their door. Overall, I would come here again! I gave this location (Clairemont Mesa + Diane) a whole months worth of the benefit of the doubt before deciding to write this, and I'd give negative stars if I could. Pre-covid, this location was my favorite; and, conveniently the location closest to me. I never had issues, I knew the staff, and there was great mutual respect. Recently, this Starbucks location has become the source of nothing but problems. I've wasted countless dollars; and collective hours, on this location. My mobile orders; that I would place well in advance, would never be ready on time. If my orders were miraculously ready in time, they were always incorrect. I talked to the store manager multiple times but nothing has changed. I work in customer service, and have for the past 7 years. I understand turnover happens, and people have bad days; but for the amount of time this has been happening: I'd recommend hiring more competent, caring, trustworthy associates, or shutting down this Starbucks altogether. I'm highly disappointed in this location. I'll be recommending other locations, or other coffeeshops to everyone I know, and warning everyone I see not to use this location. I don't want or expect anything from this, other than for this location to just do better. If it isn't abundantly clear by now, I will not ever use this location for any of my orders again. read more

This is by far one of the worst locations in Clairemont. San Diego even. The barista do not care about their customers anymore. They are rude and unhelpful. I had a mobile order for 9:16am. Come 9:26am it is still not ready. I tried to get the barista at the hand off's attention and she rolled her eyes at me and just said ,"yeah?" I told her I was now waiting for my mobile order for almost 15 extra minutes and she snarked back, "well you should expect a long wait if you order in the morning," and then turned away from me and kept making a cold beverage. Unacceptable! When I received my drink almost 5 more minutes later it was the incorrect milk. I asked her to remake it with the soy milk I paid extra for. She again rolled her eyes and started making my new drink. She sloppily threw it in a cup with milk all over it and handed it out. Again, unacceptable! I later called to speak with the manager (I didn't want to pull a Karen, but I had to in this case) and the manager told me there was not much that could be done and if I wanted further compensation to go to corporate. I never asked for compensation and wanted to just let them know what their partner did to a customer. So again, just wowzers. You are much better off going to Genesee Plaza where there will at least not roll their eyes at you. This location is in need of new staff all around or just close. read more

We came here Sunday December 29th at 8:09 via drive thru. We ordered a peppermint mocha frap and a hot chocolate. The blonde haired guy gave us a coffee. My husband took it unknowingly sipped it and said this is coffee. He took the drink back through the window and said with an attitude "I just heard coffee". He didn't say sorry. Then he was about to charge us the difference but said "it's only $1 don't worry about it". We weren't worried about paying the correct amount- we were just wanting what we ordered. The appropriate response would be "I'm sorry! I misheard you. Let me get you that hog chocolate." We don't frequent Starbucks often but we had two bad experiences tonight at two different Starbucks.
