The drive thru line was very long, so I went inside to use the bathroom. I know why the drive thru line was so long. It was utter chaos behind the counter because the 3 employees were too busy playing around and talking amongst themselves instead of making drinks. There were only 1 person in front of me and they got water and a pastry. So I stood there waiting patiently watching drinks being remade because they were wrong. There was a female customer hanging on the counter entertaining the 3 employees and may have been trying to get a date. After about 8 minutes, one of the employees asked what I ordered, to which I replied mocha frappacino. He looked around and found one had been started in the blender and poured it in a cup. I am sure it belonged to a drive thru customer instead. The drink was flavorless and runny. Terrible service and terrible drink. I will no longer be stopping at this Starbucks. Certainly needs to provide customer service training or have them clean the trash cans until customers become important. read more

As far as SBUX goes, this place is reliable and friendly. They know their stuff, and they never mess-up my drinks, and I have some really crazy drink orders: 1) Venti 180° steamed lemonade with 1-2 bags of tea (usually Orange Blossom, but I've had it with Passion and Earl Grey) 2) [Iced] grande, soy, no classic/4 pumps peppermint, 6 scoops matcha, light ice, [shaken], green tea latte 3) Quad, half-caf, 2 raw sugar, espresso, over ice I buy whole bean from here for my espresso machine at home. Verona seems to work well with the hard, Ripon tap water, even after running it through a Brita filter. There have been many times I've found myself there until closing, and they don't even bug me about it (which honestly, makes me feel worse for being there late). They do take a while, but I trust them to not make me have them remake my drinks. I pass the time next door, ordering a sandwich at Subway, if I don't already have food. read more

This store is particularly busy given that it is right off the CA-99 and not far from the CA-120 interchange in Manteca. So if you don't expect extremely fast service, you'll be less disappointed. That said, however, as a new resident of Ripon who has been stopping by here 1-2 times a week, I find that the speed of their service is actually quite decent, all things considered. And usually my drinks are just fine. Nevertheless, there are two fatal flaws to this particular store that have continuously left me feeling like I need to search for a new go-to location (the 209 is notoriously devoid of solid, third-wave coffee shops other than Preservation Coffee & Tea in Modesto, so Starbucks is sadly one of the few viable options). 1. Forget trying to study here. The music in the shop is usually terrible and is played at an incredibly loud volume--I've repeatedly seen people struggle to have normal conversations in here. So you end up with people speaking very loudly, trying to talk over the [bad] music. This is a recipe for disaster if you're trying to get some work done. Even with headphones on full blast, you'll hear the music from the store loud and clear. 2. I normally like to study from about 7-10pm. But for whatever reason, this store likes to start cleaning up and stacking chairs around 8pm. This has happened a couple of times to me, and it's quite uncomfortable when you feel like you're the person ruining their night because you came two hours before close and cleared the chairs from the table they already stacked. It all just screams: WE DON'T WANT YOU IN HERE. To be sure, there are worse stores. Don't get me wrong. This one is decent for a cup of coffee and I've even had them give me drinks for free because they messed up my order during an especially busy afternoon. But the music is too loud and they start cleaning up much too early. That's my take, at least. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I came to Starbucks to get a trenta green tea. After sitting in line forever I finally get to the box to order I say exactly what I want a Trenta green tea no sweetener and add strawberry juice and the girl says okay pull around. I continue to sit in line forever, i get to the window an she takes my payment an then tries to give me a Grande I said I ordered a trenta. She then proceeds to say no you said Grande I said no actually I said Trenta she rolls her eyes at me and turns around. She then made me my drink the right size this time (5 mins sitting at the window) and gives it to me with so much attitude. Didn't say have a nice day didn't say sorry nothing. So on that note I will no longer be visiting this Starbucks location all because of one dumb red head with a bad attitude and an apparent hearing problem. read more

I go to this Starbucks all the time just because of the location. I have read a few of the reviews and have to agree with a thing or two and disagree with a thing or two. First, I go there in the morning and the drive-thru moves amazingly fast. There can be ten cars ahead of you on a weekend morning and you'll still get through amazingly fast and the order will be accurate. So that's not a fair criticism in my experience. I am sometimes amazed at how quick the drive-thru is. Only complaint, which others have expressed, is you would be hard-pressed to find a Starbucks with less "personality." This isn't one where people remember you and are friendly. It's totally impersonal. No friendly service or anything that a lot of Starbucks have. But that doesn't affect the quality of the coffee or the speed of the service. read more

More than most locations this store is more likely to have long lines and be out of supplies than any other location I have visited.

I never have a problem with my tea or breakfast sandwich, but the customer service is terrible. I honestly can't wait for the other Starbucks to open up here in Ripon, because every time I go through the drive-thru, the normal thing to witness is no one standing there to greet you or take your money, and you just sit there waiting as if you're invisible. Once the person comes up with your order they barely even say a word. I know it's hard to have a job like that, but there's no reason that friendly people like me should get the blunt end of it. This place is 50-50. Sometimes you get good service sometimes you get dismal service. As far as today unfortunately I'm gonna have to give it a dismal service. When I walked in there was no greeting, the cashier looked like she didn't want to be here at all, and the line was super long in the drive-through. My coffee is a little difficult but they get it right. This Starbucks is located next to the freeway you will have to wait a little bit but they are quick it's worth the wait. I go here all the time. The worst Starbucks!! I watched the barista make 17 drive thru drinks before mine and she still got it wrong. I was given the wrong breakfast sandwich too. I used to go to the new Starbucks that opened off the highway 99 but they kept getting my order wrong and always running out of Almond milk therefor I stopped going there and began going to this location. I at-least come to this location 3-4xs a week in the mornings and I am driving from Salida to come here. I've never had an issue before I have really liked the Baristas who have attended me through the drive thru always friendly, smiling and they talk to you. Today was one of the most uncomfortable drive thru visits I have ever had. I ordered my usual went to the window the girl accepting payments I've never seen her before so I thought she must be new she looked Samoan she seemed friendly she greeted me I paid. The barista making the coffees gave her my order in that moment while the girl held my order I realized for the first time ever shoot I completely forgot to tell the girl a splash of heavy cream so I told the girl I'm so sorry I completely forgot to ask for heavy cream and I politely asked her if they can add some she rolled her eyes like it was a burden to her. First of all I'm paying for my drink it ain't cheap, second of all she's not even the one making it. If she can't handle customer service mistakes she should not even be in customer service. Her entire demeanor changed. I thanked her when she took back my drink to add heavy cream not one word from her mouth than again when she handed me my fixed drink I thanked her again and yet again she had a shitty face and did not say a word. I was in a rush and had my kids in the car but had my kids not been there I would have gone inside to tell her manager. Moral of the story it only takes one shitty employee to ruin customers experiences even though I loved going here because of the good service I received in the past because of her eye roll and rude demeanor I will definitely not be going back to this Starbucks anymore. read more

This has got to be the worst run Starbucks ever! Drive thru line is super long, huge delays, wrong drinks and poor service! The customer service is awful, no one stays very long and the ones that do are not trained properly. I've been handed the wrong drink more than the one I've ordered. The manager needs to be replaced. On one visit I even found the plastic piece from the whipped cream in my coffee cup! Have you ever been to a place that's given you consistently bad service and wondered why you still go there? In Ripon that's a question we should ask ourselves about our local Starbucks drive-thru. Drive-thru operations aren't really complex; McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell and countless other chains have been in the drive-thru business for years and have been highly successful. Apparently the problems arise when you add coffee to the mix. I can't tell you how many times I've gone through the Ripon Starbucks drive-thru, which is supposed to be convenient for those of us in a hurry, and had to wait longer then I would at the DMV. I particularly enjoy being stuck in the coffee traffic jam right next to the foul smelling garbage can that looks like it hasn't been dumped since the place opened. I also enjoy screaming my head off as the barista is trying to take my order because the genius that built the place didn't realize that no one would be able to hear a word you say when you position your speaker as close to the freeway as possible without taking an on ramp. The coffee is always good and it's the only game in town so chances are you'll find me sitting in the drive-thru tomorrow morning, you'll be able to recognize me easily enough, I'll be the one endlessly waiting by the garbage can or giving the speaker the finger while I try to be polite because its really not the barista's fault. read more

The several times I've come here I always experience drive thru lines that seem like they take longer than they need to compared to others I've visited or was a regular at. Tried going inside and it was the same, but I also got to see the unorganized and clustered atmosphere behind the counter. Totally depends on who is working, but it seems as though they have a lot of newbies who haven't handled rushes or fully grasp the quick-fire-ordering that a lot of guests are accustomed to. Honestly not sure what everyone is complaining about! Don't come into our small town and be pissed that the baristas are personable and maybe have a two sentence conversation with each of their regulars instead of passing them right ahead so they can get to the next order. They may take a little time, but it really is because of human interaction taking place (something many no longer understand). As for getting the wrong drink- our baristas are HUMAN. Mistakes happen, maybe instead of rudely insisting your order is wrong KINDLY let them know and they will be more than happy to remake it. On another note I have had the redheaded barista serve me many times and it's been nothing but pleasant! She happily says hello & takes your order with a smile! Those that have had trouble with her were probably rude in the first place! These baristas are human and deal with way more sass than they should have to. If she did role her eyes you probably weren't the first person to rudely act entitled about their Trenta cup of green tea or coffee that day- so cut them some slack and say it with a smile next time! This is my favorite Starbucks & will remain that way. Baristas are kind and very personable. Oh yeah & if you hate long lines, maybe don't come to a town with only ONE Starbucks (duh) or try ordering on the mobile app and picking it up right when you get there (also duh- we live in the 21st century- if you're going to act like an entitled snob who deserves to be served coffee in under 2 mins at least be smart enough to solve your own problems with technology! This was one of the worst Starbucks I've been to in quite some time, so bad I came out in a bad mood! The organization of the parking lot isn't that great for starters but I know that isn't their fault. BUT what is their fault is the partners that work there. The woman who was taking the orders and ringing up guests seemed annoyed with each person that she was talking to including me. When I then ordered an iced chai along with a raspberry swirl loaf she looked terribly confused and gave me a strange look which made me feel odd. The bathrooms hadn't been kept up, there is a handle missing on one of the doors, the drive thru was backed up, and every partner there didn't seem happy to be there in the first place. I did read the reviews and hesitated before going through the drive-through at this location. The wait was quicker than a lot of drive-through Starbucks I've been to before. I had two barista's help me at the window and they are both very friendly, kind and courteous - what more can you ask for. My drink was made perfectly and is very delicious. If you have no patience maybe don't go, but it was actually pretty quick and there were probably 8 - 11 cars ahead of me.
