    Pumpkin Bread and PSL...
    Maria T.

I'm not a huge coffee fan, I prefer tea, but come PSL season, I'm all about the java! PSL...It's one of those things you either love or hate... I LOVE! This hot frothy beverage with a slice of pumpkin bread makes my life! This is what fall is all about... and of course cozy sweater and boots! I like this new location in Willow Lawn, much more convenient. Today was crowded with all sorts of coffee loving folks; families, teens, couples, singles, young and old, workers, readers, and I'm sure some Yelpers! I like the outdoor patio, with the Edison lighting and plants(which needed watering). Here I sit, enjoying a crisp autumn day! That being said, the service was slow and the restrooms were atrocious(it was about 4:30 pm). But, there's a good chance I'll overlook those flaws to get my next PSL fix.

Disgusting marshmallow dream bar from Starbucks horrid smell

I ordered a marshmallow bar and upon opening it was a disgusting smell. I had it close to my mouth before spitting it out and rinsing my mouth out I'm glad I didn't eat it. I can't describe the smell it was like old gasoline. Never coming here again.

Normally this Starbucks is awesome just wanted to start with that! Today however I asked for a Iced Caramel Macchiato and received coffee with no ice and a small amount of frothed milk. The coffee was just room temperature.

Really decent Sbux with super sweet staff. Willow Lawn is a historic shopping center and so it's nice to stop here and reflect on the changes from 1958-now. Nice vibe. There are sometimes people smoking cigarettes on the patio ‍

This is my order that's been done for three minutes. Her coworker was more interested in dancing.

This is pretty much the worst Starbucks I have ever been to, which isn't difficult because Starbucks is usually on point. What made this experience difficult was that despite having several staff members working it took an incredible amount of time to prepare my drink because it was more important for one of the employees to have a dance party with themselves. I understand her fraps bring the boys to the yard, furthermore that teaching us would come with a charge (this wasn't what she was dancing to) but her dancing slowed not only her down but the people around her. I cannot stress enough that caffeine is a public safety issue and we should carefully craft our coffee drinks but also do it at an efficient pace. It being 'the worst Starbucks" still puts it in a good spot. I was impressed at people's ability to work around "dance, dance, revolution."

This is Jeff. Jeff is the manager at this location and I wanted to share his act of kindness publicly. He graciously donated 6 travelers of coffee that went to frontline healthcare providers at VCU Health caring for COVID patients. We need more people like Jeff in the world! Thank you!!

Starbucks is definitely one of my favorite hangouts all over the country. This particular one is going to be moving in July 7 which I think is a big move for them. It's pretty small and cramped and sometimes difficult to get into although all the team members here have extraordinary manners and provide great service.

This is my favorite Starbucks location in RVA. My daughter lovingly calls this place the "Mermaid coffee shop." The baristas here are friendly, and even though it is part of a chain, the baristas here make this location distantly theirs by bringing their personality and charm. My favorite barista is a former Air Force service man named Stephen, who remembered my name on my second visit. I have a pretty unique and hard name to remember, so it meant a lot to me that he remembered my name. Even my baristas at my local coffee shop in the Bellevue neighborhood can't say my name, so such a personal touch by an employee of this Mermaid coffee shop is deeply appreciated by this yelper and customer. The bathrooms are clean and are wheelchair accessible with child changing stations. This location features work commuters and regulars in the neighborhood in the morning and throughout the day that makes this place stand out among other locations of the same name.

    Nice interior

Nice Starbucks! Staff is very friendly and drinks and food are always correct and tasty. One thing I will say is there isn't much seating inside, it's a smaller location but they do have outdoor seating that's covered which is nice!

The pastries are where Ben Wong shines. Showcased in the middle of the cafe, the ability to self select pastries often leaves me going home with more than I expect. The Pineapple Bun is fluffy with a mild sweetness, the Chicken Curry Bun is savory with a satisfying crunchy exterior, and the Taro Buns have a rich taro flavor. I was a bit disappointed that they only offer whole or oat milk, as I was used to having more milk options (like low fat or nonfat). I can't drink whole milk and I'm not a big fan of oat milk. The barista recommended that I try the oat milk and said if I didn't like the drink, they would make me something else. I asked for light oak milk and hoped for the best. My latte was served in layers, so I got a big blast of oat milk in my first sip, but after I mixed my latte, it tasted so much better. The coconut flavor really came through and offset the oat milk flavor. I was really happy with my drink and with the super helpful barista. I'll for sure be coming back!

As anyone can see by my other reviews, I give a lot of 4 and 5-star ones, and am generally not a complainer. When I rate something low, there's really a reason. There was nothing for me to like about this place. First, there was no signage to speak of. It wasn't real easy to find. I didn't even know I had found the right place until I saw the name of the place on the bags of coffee. When I came in, it was a cold feeling, not a friendly one. Every person I dealt with behind the counter wasn't warm or inviting. I got the feeling that they felt I "should have known" where to order, and "should have known" where to wait, or to pick up my coffee. I got a takeout hot coffee but had to interrupt and kindly ask for a lid. And when I did I got a vibe like I was an irritation or something. I went out to the car with my coffee and told my husband I hoped it was really outstanding coffee with what I had to go through to get it. And you know what, it wasn't all that great. It's not worth going back for. I don't get why people like or recommend this place.

Walking in they do have a few spots for seating and offer Gelato, crepes and various sweet treats. The cup was very large and I could see someone sharing this amongst 2 or 3 people easily. The cashier was nice when ordering, ensured we were okay with it being topped with gelato and provided us with napkins from behind the counter. The pistachio Gelato was the star of the show it was very flavor realistic to pistachio and was my favorite part of the whole cup. The strawberries were delicious and sweet however I found myself wishing they were chopped in half to make it easier to consume. I also wish my cup came with more nutella or whatever chocolate that was drizzled into the cup as I kept coming up with pieces that had none. Overall, I think the Dubai chocolate cup was a fun one time experience, I'd recommend going with someone you can share with if you wanted to give it a try and maybe asking for extra chocolate. If the cup is not something you're interested in I would recommend getting the pistachio gelato and maybe adding nutella as a topping if that is an option. You would get a similar flavor with a much easier eating experience!
