I'm not a huge coffee fan, I prefer tea, but come PSL season, I'm all about the java! PSL...It's one of those things you either love or hate... I LOVE! This hot frothy beverage with a slice of pumpkin bread makes my life! This is what fall is all about... and of course cozy sweater and boots! I like this new location in Willow Lawn, much more convenient. Today was crowded with all sorts of coffee loving folks; families, teens, couples, singles, young and old, workers, readers, and I'm sure some Yelpers! I like the outdoor patio, with the Edison lighting and plants(which needed watering). Here I sit, enjoying a crisp autumn day! That being said, the service was slow and the restrooms were atrocious(it was about 4:30 pm). But, there's a good chance I'll overlook those flaws to get my next PSL fix. read more

This is a very busy location, the staff here is exceptional. I went on a Friday morning and they were really busy. It has a very small seating area and all the tables were full, there is space for 3 at the bar, it was full too. I had the Verona which was good and a piece of heated banana nut bread, it was cold. Dropped my mom off to a super early appointment and was happy to see the larger, newer location (it's been a long time since I've visited this location). I remember when it held down a smaller space across the parking lot which wasn't easy to navigate. I,a black American, walked into an empty Starbucks and it took a significant amount of time to even be noticed, even though I came straight up to the counter. After waiting to be acknowledged I was directly told that someone would be with me soon (not greeted with a hello or anything- but a cold "someone will be with you soon") . After someone came from the back(even though there were plenty of people walking around aimlessly) I was greeted and asked what I would like. Not even a minute later did a white man walk in & up to the counter and was IMMEDIATELY greeted with a "good morning" & his order taken. It's frustrating being ignored when coming into an establishment to spend your own money. I highly doubt I will be coming back. Dunkin has better cold brew anyways...also my drink was served in a dirty cup with sticky sugar at the bottom. Thanks. read more

This is pretty much the worst Starbucks I have ever been to, which isn't difficult because Starbucks is usually on point. What made this experience difficult was that despite having several staff members working it took an incredible amount of time to prepare my drink because it was more important for one of the employees to have a dance party with themselves. I understand her fraps bring the boys to the yard, furthermore that teaching us would come with a charge (this wasn't what she was dancing to) but her dancing slowed not only her down but the people around her. I cannot stress enough that caffeine is a public safety issue and we should carefully craft our coffee drinks but also do it at an efficient pace. It being 'the worst Starbucks" still puts it in a good spot. I was impressed at people's ability to work around "dance, dance, revolution." read more

The entrance and location of this Starbucks was really not well thought out or planned. There's no room, a "one way" entrance that's almost impossible to access, and when you're in the drive thru line, your car will block people leaving. Horrible setup all. read more

This is my favorite Starbucks location in RVA. My daughter lovingly calls this place the "Mermaid coffee shop." The baristas here are friendly, and even though it is part of a chain, the baristas here make this location distantly theirs by bringing their personality and charm. My favorite barista is a former Air Force service man named Stephen, who remembered my name on my second visit. I have a pretty unique and hard name to remember, so it meant a lot to me that he remembered my name. Even my baristas at my local coffee shop in the Bellevue neighborhood can't say my name, so such a personal touch by an employee of this Mermaid coffee shop is deeply appreciated by this yelper and customer. The bathrooms are clean and are wheelchair accessible with child changing stations. This location features work commuters and regulars in the neighborhood in the morning and throughout the day that makes this place stand out among other locations of the same name. read more

The reason we always come back here is because one, we are Starbucks addicts (because who isn't) and two, because the employees here are always so friendly and happy to do their jobs. I wanted to ask a question about the cups for sale but i had to call the worker who made my drink back over. She called my drink out instead of my name. This might be the smallest Starbucks I've ever visited (not counting those found in airports). I think there's a two-top, a four-top, one corner with comfy-ish chairs, and two seats at a tiny bar. Not that that's a bad thing, necessarily, but it just means don't count on this being your place to hang out and work for any considerable amount of time. I was super lucky to score the two-top when I chose this as a meeting place earlier in the week, but I doubt I'll be picking this for any meetings in the future. I will say, though, that the staff here was quite possibly the friendliest of any Sbucks I've visited, so big ups for that. During my hour-plus stay, I was slightly bummed about two things: 1. The wi-fi was uber slow. 2. The air conditioning was on! On a cold, February day. And I was sitting directly below the vent, so by the time I left I was totally frozen. Normally I would have just moved seats, but as I mentioned above, the options are super limited and there was nothing else open. I guess this makes smart business sense if you're selling hot coffee to cold patrons, but I was shivering. If you're just looking to grab a coffee at Willow Lawn, then this will do the trick. If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a leisurely visit, I'd probably look elsewhere. read more

Worst customer service I've ever had at a Starbucks. The woman in front of me was picking out and charging up 30+ gift cards. Cool, no problem, however after waiting for quite a while, neither the cashier or the 4 baristas acknowledged I was waiting or thought to take my order from the other register. The baristas were just chit chatting with one another and it was obvious they weren't busy, it was just that nobody cared. I don't mind waiting but that was blatantly a disregard for service. This isn't a real Starbucks, it's just a coffee shop licensed to sell Starbucks. I don't know if I love or hate that, but I do know they have Coconut Lattes and that's pretty damned amazing. They also have different pastries like Cheesecake Factory products. Still not the best, but better than Starbucks normal crap pastries. read more

At this point in the world I expect most people know what the actual coffee products are about at Starbucks. This review is based on the new location next to Chopt, and more about the space inside than the coffee. The staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee is pretty mediocre, as most Starbucks is. I've had much better elsewhere, but again, that's not the point here. The new space is gorgeous, very open and light, especially compared to that tiny dark hole it used to inhabit. There are major downsides though. They clearly are trying to discourage people from coming and doing work. There are no tables with plugs, and I could only see one wall outlet in the entire place. Seriously? What century are we in here? Also there's a giant exposed A.C. pipe in the ceiling with giant blowers that literally were blowing my hair and making it uncomfortably cold inside. I tried to find a table out of the path of the blowers but it was impossible. Thirdly, the WiFi was so slow I couldn't even get my email opened. I had to leave! Totally sucks. I like going somewhere to have a coffee and a snack and bang out some work, but this location is now gonna be nixed from the rotation! read more

This Starbucks is my go-to as it's a mile from my home. With that being said, I primarily visit it because it is convenient. I appreciate how quickly the staff gets my drink and for the most part it's done correctly. I'm going to let it go that one time they forgot my cinnamon dolce. I survived even though I choked down the drink without that little extra flair. I've been going in there on a regular basis and now the staff knows exactly what I want. I appreciate that. I don't need a lot of small talk, I just need my caffeine. Even though I have never dined in I do enjoy the visualization of the outside diners sipping their coffee and reading the paper. It almost feels a bit like Europe. I would've given them five stars but I recently had a request and when they could not fulfill it, they gave me an answer with a bit of condescending tone. Again I'm gonna let that go because caffeine is one of my favorite food groups. read more
